Yes, he does mean digitally. Had my first watch through on the small screen, and still really like it.

I'm waiting for Blu Ray. I have to have my grubby hands on it. Can't wait. I really loved this movie.

April 5 for Oz. Since I've preorder the 2 bluray disc version, I'm given a extra dvd with 10 mins of specials. Probably ties in with a promo in the US.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Yes, very much looking forward to next Tuesday. Of course, with Mrs. Rollafett being off that night as well, I won't get a chance to dive in until the following night, and even then it won't be until after I get Rollafett Jr. to bed.
"All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi."
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I've watched Rogue One a few times post digital purchase now, and I feel I have a new question; If Krennic ordered all the original Death Star techs killed, and then Galen is killed in the ensuing Rebel strike, and then the Death Star destorys Scarif with the original Death Star plans that Jyn transmitted, and Leia passes the transmitted plans to the Alliance via R2 in ANH............then how the hell did the Empire know how to build the second Death Star?
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Perhaps they drew new blueprints? I mean, since the second is quite larger than the first.DblDwn wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2017, 12:20 am I've watched Rogue One a few times post digital purchase now, and I feel I have a new question; If Krennic ordered all the original Death Star techs killed, and then Galen is killed in the ensuing Rebel strike, and then the Death Star destorys Scarif with the original Death Star plans that Jyn transmitted, and Leia passes the transmitted plans to the Alliance via R2 in ANH............then how the hell did the Empire know how to build the second Death Star?
Perhaps they engaged new techs and arcitects?
Perhaps the Emperor had a copy of the drawings stuffed away in a locker somewhere?
The answers can be many.
It's a trap....

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Looking forward to the Blu-Ray release. Loved the film but I've only seen it once. Out on the 10th in the UK, but I'm getting the Target version on import. Of course the extra shipping time will probably add a week, so it'll be a similar wait anyway. I do like that packaging though.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The book Catalyst addressed the fact that all of the people who worked on the first Death Star did so without really realizing it. They were deliberately kept separated in order to keep the secret that they were actually working on a weapon. For example, Galen being a crystal specialist was originally told his team was working to create a power supply for out of the way colonies and such. Or another team was working on a planetary shield in order to protect a planet from asteroid bombardment or something. Anybody that started to put two and two together about these teams would then mysteriously disappear, or their research facility would be destroyed.DblDwn wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2017, 12:20 am I've watched Rogue One a few times post digital purchase now, and I feel I have a new question; If Krennic ordered all the original Death Star techs killed, and then Galen is killed in the ensuing Rebel strike, and then the Death Star destorys Scarif with the original Death Star plans that Jyn transmitted, and Leia passes the transmitted plans to the Alliance via R2 in ANH............then how the hell did the Empire know how to build the second Death Star?
In theory, Galen's team would only have been concerned with the laser. So if only his team is eradicated, the others still exist and they could work on a second Death Star.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
DblDwn, cast your mind back to Ep 2 as it was the Geonosians who created the original plans. I'm sure that Palpatine kept a copy of them.
Galen only worked on the disc and getting it to work. The thermal port created to help cool the weapon reactor down. Galen confirmed he wasn't needed but he made himself invaluable. So new engineers would have been given appropriate encouragement (torture) to work on DS2.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Ookay. I've seen the film now. One word review: spackle.
Two-hours-and-fifteen-minutes of tedium. Characters...you don't give a crap who they are when the appear; you don't give a crap when they die, inevitably, so as not to screw too seriously with continuity. James Earl Jones can no longer properly produce the Vader voice. Digital Tarkin looked like an upgrade from the Clone Wars cartoon; Princess Leia looked...unnatural, somewhere between an inflatable doll (you know what I mean), and a waxwork. If I had had to hear "I am one with the Force and the Force is with me" one more time, I think I would have been one with the freakin' insanity, and batsith crazy.
That said, it was about what I expected.
I did like that brief bit with Vader in the corridor chastening rebels. I didn't like the lackluster music, though.
And one other thing: Where did Director Kneecrack get that cape? Whose idea was that? What a sorry piece of Sith. It looked like he made it himself out of a bedsheet.
Those are my preliminary thoughts.
Thanks for your attention!

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Oh, I almost forgot: I liked the droid. The droid should have capped all the human characters, and taken care of the mission himself. It would have been a nice, neat, 90 minute flick, probably with some entertainment value.

Fiancee bought me the Blu-Ray as an early birthday gift and we watched it again last night.
Still absolutely love it.

RO has been purchased!
We went with Target, it's the only one that has 2 exclusive extras. I don't know why I care about that since the last SW movies I bought were the Special Edition on VHS.

Great! It's not released on Blu-Ray here in Sweden before Wednesday next week.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
My 2 dsc bluray copy arrived Monday and has an extra dvd with two extras: 1. Inside the creature shop and 2. Digital storytelling.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
My copy arrived earlier than expected. Great film, poor extras. The "Rogue Connections" one was particularly bad, going over some of the connections to other stories before ending with a "oh and there are other connections too.." after a few minutes. There are some good moments in the extras, but not enough detail.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
That felt like it was produced for some terrible AOL site or something, haha.Darth Fool wrote: ↑April 7th, 2017, 9:29 am My copy arrived earlier than expected. Great film, poor extras. Definitely agree the extras are lacking. Seems like most movies are moving away from including good bonus content nowadays.

How good are those exclusive extras? I've been wrestling with whether to buy it now, or wait for a lower price. Hugely disappointed there's no commentary track, which is part of why I'm hesitant to buy it at all.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
They're a similar standard to the other videos, ending as they seem to get going although I did quite enjoy the creature shop one. Bare in mind they have a combined runtime of around 10 minutes, so I wouldn't say they're a big selling point.borgmatrix wrote: ↑April 10th, 2017, 12:37 pmHow good are those exclusive extras? Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Picked mine up at Best Buy on Thursday, since I suddenly got busy Tuesday and Wednesday and Amazon didn't have it up for presale. I watched it Friday night and still teared up. I guess that is a bit better than the outright crying at the theater! I actually think I have a new favorite Star Wars quote now and should update my signature.

Great movie but I was disappointed in the Blu-ray.
I can't help but think that we will be getting a "directors cut" in 5-10 years or something similar to force us to buy it again.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Yay! I got Rogue One in the mail a day early (it's released on Blu-Ray tomorrow here in Sweden). A truly remarkable Star Wars movie and what a glorious evening I had.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I bought the DVD last night, the cheaper version, not the BlueRay so I didn't get any extras. And oh, it's not like I liked the movie or anything but I have watched it 3 times in less than 18 hours.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
I've watched it on Blu-Ray three times in less than a week. Love Rogue One!
When I saw one of the TV-spots for ROTS, the one with Yoda saying "Twisted by the Dark Side young Skywalker has become", I was certain the wonderfully tragic piece of music in the TV-spot was for the scene when Anakin/Vader became horribly injured. It almost seems like heresy, but when I on opening night watched ROTS in theater, I was surprised that the music was for the Jedi Temple scene and I actually found the piece WIlliams had written, "The Immolation Scene", to be somewhat... lacking.
Michael Giacchino's scores for the Star Trek movies really didn't do much for me and when I first read that he was to be the composer for R1, I wasn't too excited, but I must say that Giacchino's piece for the most emotional scene in the movie really is beautiful and effective, like most of his score for the movie.
