Well, four years before Return of the Jedi, but I agree.Lord Tesla wrote: ↑May 6th, 2017, 3:11 am Same thing that happened about six years before Return of the Jedi, only not as much fun.
Four? 1977 to 1983...six, correct? I think you were doing Internal Chronology Math, while I was doing Release Date Math.Master Magnus wrote: ↑May 6th, 2017, 6:49 amWell, four years before Return of the Jedi, but I agree.Lord Tesla wrote: ↑May 6th, 2017, 3:11 am Same thing that happened about six years before Return of the Jedi, only not as much fun.
My top gripes about the film are 1) that it slavishly followed the plot of ANH, and 2) that the most interesting thing about it was Luke's mysterious absence, which did raise expectations that Luke might reappear and, just maybe, introduce some new wrinkle to the familiar tale, which expectations when finally (partly) satisfied were dashed as Luke, Rey, and whatever interest the story might have had were whisked out of our reach, like that football Lucy van Pelt always tormented Charlie Brown with. Making me feel like Charlie Brown is no way to me enjoy a movie.Master Magnus wrote: ↑May 6th, 2017, 6:49 amI can't say that I was disappointed with TFA as I didn't really have any expectations. Well, I knew that JJ Abrams is a poor storyteller who can't make many decent shots, but I really don't like the movie, it's as simple as that.
True. I thought you referred to the story.Lord Tesla wrote: ↑May 6th, 2017, 3:08 pmFour? 1977 to 1983...six, correct?
