Rogue Squadron

Post by thepepgal »

Next film will be about Rogue Squadron and directed by Patty Jenkins of the Wonder Woman films. he father was a fighter pilot so she will draw on her memories to bring that feeling to the movie.

It is due for release Christmas 2023.

The director is promising and the movie sounds exciting, despite the scant details! Looking forward to this one!

While no longer canon, i hope they lift some of the characters from The X-Wing series written by Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston.

Do we know the time period? Based on the logo I’m guessing ST time period....

It's set "in the future" according to Kennedy (fingers crossed that it'll ignore the ST).

EDIT: It was mentioned in the announcement over at the Official Site as well:
The story will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.

The internet has reports on many sites that this film is now cancelled, after being supposedly still in development in December. It appears that Patty Jenkins isn't having a good run since she had Wonder Woman 3 cancelled recently too. Mind Wonder Woman 1984 wasn't the best film.

This was one of the slated films I was looking forward to.

I will lock this thread in about a week's time in case anyone wants to comment.

If at any stage Disney changes it's mind then we can unlock it again.

The news is disappointing. I was hoping for a Rouge One with a lot of Spaceship dogfights and stuff.
