Working my way through them, and enjoying each story in it's own way.Spoiler Below I liked the format chosen for Soldier's Stories as transcribed audio...very original, I had not encountered that before (I haven't read that much fan fiction)
Hanging in the Balance was well written but depressing. The characterization of the Jedi character was far too negative for my tastes. This read like something the Empire would have done after Episode III, but not during the Clone Wars with a Jedi in command...at least to me...I like my Jedi noble. War is hell, but it doesn't have to make everyone evil.
Which is why I enjoyed Savage Territory, which might be my favorite so far (reading one per night) I liked the characterization of the Jedi and the clones. I liked the character arc of the young Jedi padawan, who hated the clones at first...because of the Fett connection...but ended up respecting them and sacrificing herself for them. That was a nice touch.
I'll be back for more later!

See, I didn't read the Jedi as evil. The GAR to me were just as they always were, but war is war, accidents happen, tough choices are made and not everyone is going to see the 'good guys' as the good guys. To a planet of people who are used to being ignored and keep out of galactic affairs, any army who come to their planet and take stuff for the war effort are going to be seen as an enemy, that's just human nature.
Can you imagine if the GAR landed in the US and said they'd made a deal with your president to use your resources in their intergalactic war that you didn't even consider yourself part of? You'd be pissed off, of course you would! You'd want them to get off your continent before they brought the war to you and your families. Now they might claim it's for the greater good, but you just want to protect your family and all you know is that before they came there was no threat of war. Before they came, as far as you were concerned, your family weren't in danger, your planet wasn't a target for the seperatists. It's not a story about the GAR being evil or empire like, it's a story of perspectives.
Sorry, rambling on now. I'll get me coat.

I can see your point Flo on Hanging in the BalanceSpoiler Below and I supposethe term evil was a bit harsh. However, I don't think that the Jedi would lead that type of destructive invasion/occupation to destroy a world like that...even if the titular "leader" of the planet gave approval....if it was so obviously at odds with the will of the people... I can see the clones in the story...bred and trained for war without regret or remorse, react the way they did. I just didn't care for the characterization of the Jedi in this story
Now, here are some more spoiler protected comments. I'll put the story name before each so if you've read that story, or not, you'll know
Night of the Sand Panther
Spoiler Below I liked Night of the Sand Panther. The author gave some nice depth to the two characters in the story (having only two characters did help...Savage Territory had almost too many...hard to keep track) anyway Sand Panther ended like Chapter one of a larger piece that would be fun to read more about.
Soul Survivor
Spoiler Below Another one which might lead to more adventures is Soul Survivor. It would be cool to explore what happens to the character who joins the rebellion at the end...see what adventures he goes on. I also liked the arc of the main character. Having only one clone might not be enough for some readersbut it allowed this one to build some depth. I also liked how this one introduced some new wrinkles, the indoctrination of the clones, the new droid armor, and how Palpatine used it, like everything else, to his advantage
Savage Territory
Spoiler Below I still like this one a lot. it also added new stuff to the clone wars story, the assassin droids for example...very cool new dangerous development.
Will try to read the rest over the weekend, and then vote
How we doin? Same as always. That bad, huh?
I see now that I may have to read Hanging in the Balance again. That was the first one I read and I may have read the incomplete version

Anyone else up for sharing opinions as they read through the submissions? I've only seen a couple so far.
Although be sure to use spoiler tags, or DC will come and beat you with a baseball bat![]()
