Re: Last Television Show Watched
The X-Files , Season One: "Young at Heart." I continue to be amazed that the program made such an impact at the time, until, of course, I recall the time, which I do just before nodding off and missing the payoff, as I did last night. I don't think I ever saw the first season. Maybe not e...

Re: Last Television Show Watched
Humans , Episode 1.8. Interesting, open-ended, but that's what season 2 is for. One criticism I would make is that there a virtual blackout on the technique by which these beings are made, programmed, and operate in this fictional universe. They run off wall current, and have rechargeable batteries...

Re: What's the last book you read?
Reading The Fellowship of the Ring . Really coming to realize that I prefer the films to the books. 1) To each his own, but... 2) There's only one book: it's a single novel, published in three volumes, largely due to economics, paper shortages, and publisher nerves in Britain in the 1950s; 3) I'll ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
Odd that the first word we hear from Luke Skywalker after thirty-odd years is "breathe." Something his father couldn't.....I'm here all week folks! Of course Darth Vader could breathe. He just needed a little mechanical help. You don't breathe, you die, after all, and well, he didn't. Die...

Okay, the very last part of breakfast was, as always, the fruit, which was grapes. So, Grapes.borgmatrix wrote: ↑April 14th, 2017, 1:59 pmIsn't that kind of like saying you ate food. How about some specifics?

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
A few additional trailer thoughts, after another viewing: Those podracer-like things...look silly. Why did Kylo Ren smash his helmet? Putting some distance between himself and Grampy? Done on the orders of Snokey? Or did someone else smash his helmet? I'm assuming Luke-like figure with Artoo seen be...

That poster! Infinitely better than TFA rainbow edition poster. Am I the only one that instantly thought of pod racing with those small vessels skimming the surface heading Towards the AT-AT's waaaay off in the distance. Poster? There was a poster? Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
Well, that's...impressive, I suppose. The Trailer, I mean. I suppose I could attempt to interpret it as being supportive of my theory that Luke is behind the First Order. Odd that the first word we hear from Luke Skywalker after thirty-odd years is "breathe." Odd also that it's time for th...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
Another thing: Is there any substance to the assertion I've seen made that Samuel L. Jackson made video appearance at Celebration, in which he said, "Mace Windu is not dead"? No, he said something to the effect that he wants to return as an older Mace Windu with prosthetic limbs. I see. T...

Re: Last Movie Watched
The last good Star Wars film was ESB, and that was a long time ago, in cinemas far, far away. We shall not see its like again. I liked the prequels, especially ROTS. And, I liked Rogue One . So I do think there will be more SW movies that I like and consider good. I'm sure a great one will come up ...

Re: Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
So, based on our discussion in the "last movie watched" thread, I'll say you should have listened to Rolla. And maybe I should have come in here first, and taken heed of his "futile exercise" assessment. Perhaps I should have. But I already lapsed by not seeing the film ...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (SPOILERS ALLOWED)
It's quite possible that the first trailer (or teaser) will be shown tomorrow Friday during Celebration. At the End of an Age[/i, by John Lukacs. Interesting in places, a couple or three ideas worth encountering, but so parenthetical even I, no stranger to meandering prose, found it off-putting.

What the heck was that game called...
Remember the one where you spliced two movies titles together, the requirement being that the last word of the first film be the same as the first word of the second, and that the splice occur there? For example, one my efforts was: Close Encounters of the Third Kind Hearts and Coronets (Close Encou...
