Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Interesting, Borg. I most certainly will watch it again and again, but I am unsure just how much overall let alone when that will start. Right now, I can easily see myself popping in TFA at any given time for a viewing, and I couldn't wait to do so once I had the blu-ray. Strangely, I have only watc...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

I bought it on Wednesday here in the states and I haven't felt an urgency to watch the film itself, which I found very strange, considering I only saw it once in theaters and knew it required multiple viewings for me to get a real good handle on it. That bothers me....hell, I watched the extremely m...

Re: Top 10 Star Wars Podcast

I've only ever listened to Full of Sith from that list. Wasn't too impressed, but it wasn't bad either. I've been listening to Rebel Force Radio a lot over the last year or so. The two main hosts, Jason Swank and Jimmy Mac leave a lot to be desired, but the other contributors/guests really keep me c...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

Though as you've both pointed out, its been haphazard and without the requisite thought. A lot of the callbacks just felt superficial to me, and without the depth/emotion deserved. Almost perfunctory. For example, Artoo plays the recording of Leia's "Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi..." and that r...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS ALLOWED)

My problem with that is that I see Artoo and Chewie having as much of an emotional connection, if not more, and just didn't buy into Luke brushing off those two, but then responding to a couple minutes of basic, obvious truths from Yoda. I'd have preferred if they dropped the Yoda scene, and earlie...

Why is the adding attachment function so much smarter than me??? Grrrrr....... Ok, so can't get the right size on some pics of my currently stored away collection. I got a bunch of figures and ships...mainly from the mid-90's to mid-00's. Recently, I also started adding vintage figures to the collec...

Re: Last Movie Watched

The Lobster Hmmmm....easily one of the strangest films I've ever seen. I really dug it, but was taken aback at how twisted it got at several points. The story pretty much lends itself to that, I suppose, but it still rightly shocked more than once. I also was expecting a bit more humor, but that wa...

Re: "EVERYTHING THAT HAS TRANSPIRED HAS DONE SO ACCORDING TO MY DESIGN" ...even the Rebel Alliance?

Certainly, based solely on his actions and words, would one have any reason to doubt that all transpired according to his design...and I'd lump the rebellion in with that. I mean, it's a bit of a stretch to come to that conclusion after seeing just the OT, but his puppeteering throughout the entire ...

Re: Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace

First I've heard about that...interesting. And then quite a bit later Kasden is back in thick of it. I wonder why he turned it down back then? Was it to do with working with Lucas, or like with the directors who turned it down...not wanting the pressure.

Re: What's the last book you read?

Star Wars: Bloodline by Claudia Gray. I enjoyed this novel tremendously and it's easily the best novel of the new canon I've read. The characterization of Leia was spot-on and I really enjoyed how the novel fleshed out the political landscape and the origins of the First Order. It also made The For...

Airplane!

Me and Mrs. RollaFett were in the mood for some chuckles the other night and gave this a watch. First time in a LONG time. A true comedy classic, despite that not all of it ages particularly well.

So, based on our discussion in the "last movie watched" thread, I'll say you should have listened to Rolla. And maybe I should have come in here first, and taken heed of his "futile exercise" assessment. Glad I drew such a hearty laugh out of you. And even after years of...

Re: Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace

Let's get down to the only true issue with this film...ego. Lucas's ego got in his own way far too much with TPM. He despises writing and directing. Ok, so he decides to do both. Now, it is true that he offered the directing gig to others - Ron Howard among them - and was turned down flat it seemed ...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

My question is, wouldn't he have to answer to the emperor and justify his actions? Perhaps he reported to Palpatine that it was the rebels who destroyed the base? Another point is this: Giving a man the power to destroy worlds was a costly move, as evidenced by his haste in destroying an important ...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I like the score though it was lacking in some areas. Especially the title scene. When "Rogue One" appeared on the screen the music was too similar IMO to some of the music in cheesy low budget 80's sci-fi like Adventures in the Forbidden Zone. However, the rest of the music was quite goo...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I took a look at a few spots in the film yesterday, probably a good twenty minutes of it. A few observations: 1) it was not as bad as I thought it was initially. It still wasn't good, and, since I was buzzing past the boring spots, that may have had a significant effect on my perception. Be careful...

I watched Kubo and the Two Strings with my son yesterday, visually impressive, but slightly predictable....for me. Not so much for my son who at first wasn't into it but by the end wanted to watch it a second time. Kubo might be a little scary children 5 and under. I can see that. Not knowing much ...

I haven't missed an episode of The Flash. The first season was beyond phenomenal, but sadly it has gone steadily downhill since. I still dig it, but this current season needs to wrap up in a extremely satisfying way for me to blindly commit to season 4. The other shows....well, I've seen a handful o...

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Michael Giacchino's scores for the Star Trek movies really didn't do much for me and when I first read that he was to be the composer for R1, I wasn't too excited, but I must say that Giacchino's piece for the most emotional scene in the movie really is beautiful and effective, like most of his sco...

Re: Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back

Don't know beef from anything about Bodhi 'cause I haven't seen Rogue One yet. However, in ESB, it was Rogue Squadron, all the speeder crews had Rogue numbers, and, when they went against the Imperial Walkers, Luke was "Rogue Leader." Now, maybe that can be retconned to be a naming in hon...
