I decided to write my own version of events to take place in Episode III. Here is just the opening... trying to have some fun here. interested in your comments:

OPENING CRAWL:

Episode III: Fall of the Jedi

In the three years since the Battle on Geonosius, through the
leadership of Chancellor Palpatine, the Republic has utilized
the clone army under the command of the Jedi Knights to quell
the separaist threat on numerous worlds throughout the
galaxy.

After a recent battle on the planet Theorin, Count Dooku,
leader of the separatists has disappeared, leaving the
remaining leadership of the Confederacy of Independent
Systems in disarray. The Banking Clan and the Commerce Guild
are both under complete Republic control now.

Without Dooku's leadership, and in a desperate move, the
Trade Federation has launched an offensive on the planet
Kamino, hoping to cripple the growth of the Republic Clone
Army by destroying the cloning facilities. Jedi Masters Mace
Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Obi-Wan Kenobi arrive at Kamino to
help head off this threat...

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

PAN down to follow two Jedi starfighters racing through space
and headed towards the planet Kamino rising ahead. Behind
the two fighters, a Star Destroyer lumbers forward as well
flanked by a few more Jedi starfighters and many Republic
fighters.

INSIDE MACE'S COCKPIT, we join MACE WINDU as he pilots
towards the planet.

MACE
We are in time, the Confederate control
ships have yet to launch their droids.

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, Obi-Wan Kenobi examines a readout
on a display inside his starfighter.

OBI-WAN
We must hurry, Master Windu. The
Kaminoans have limited military
resources. Like the Geonosians, they
build armies for profit... not for
defense.

MACE
They may be more resourceful than you
think.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
Master Obi-Wan, lead the strike against
those control ships. Perhaps our
surprise arrival will allow us to destroy
them before they have a chance to deploy
their droids.

MACE
Indeed. We will head down to prepare for
a surface attack.

IN MACE'S COCKPIT, an alert begins flashing and whirring on
Mace's display panel.

MACE (CONT'D)
We've been noticed...

OBI-WAN
So much for the surprise. I hope they
have prepared a warm welcome.

MACE
Not likely, my friend. May the force be
with you.

OBI-WAN
And with you. See you on the surface.

Outside we see the three fighters break apart as Obi-Wan's
fighter blasts towards the control ships. A squadron of
Republic fighters follows.

Five droid fighters come careening towards Ki-Adi-Mundi's
ship, lasers blasting. Ki-Adi-Mundi maneuvers precisely
between blasts and then lets loose with a barrage of his own
laser fire. Two droid ships explode as three more dodge the
debris and race towards him.

Ki-Adi-Mundi flips the fighter over and narrowly avoids
colliding with the three droid ships as he heads towards the
planet's surface. The droid ships double back and follow.

With a sudden rain of laser fire, two of the ships on Ki-Adi
Mundi's trail are destroyed and Mace's fighter drops in
behind the third.

INSIDE MACE'S COCKPIT, the display shows a lock on the droid
ship. Mace squeezes the trigger and the droid fighter
explodes.

INSIDE KI-ADI-MUNDI'S COCKPIT, he smiles.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
Very nice.

MACE
I'm sure you'll return the favor.

Outside the ships, more droids join the chase.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan is dealing with a few droid fighters
himself. He blasts one but another ship clips his wing with
a laser blast. His R4 droids squeals and bleeps.

OBI-WAN
My sentiments exactly, R4. Hang on.

Obi-Wan breaks to the left to narrowly avoid colliding with a
droid fighter as laser fire again ripples past him. Republic
fighters and two Jedi fighters engage the droids. In a hail
of lasers, more droid ships are destroyed.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Red team follow me to that first control
ship. Green and Orange teams, engage the
droid fighters.

EXT. KAMINO ATMOSPHERE

Mace, Ki-Adi-Mundi and a cadre of Republic fighters are
pursued by a half dozen droid ships.

INSIDE MACE'S COCKPIT, Mace examines some displays.

MACE
Blue team, fall back and take care of
those droid fighters. Master Ki-Adi
Mundi, let's set up base operations at
that platform. Yellow team, follow us.

Eight of the Republic fighters break off and engage the droid
ships. Mace's fighter breaks towards the planet's surface
followed by Ki-Adi-Mundi and yellow team.

MACE (CONT'D)
(into comm unit)
Prime Minister, this is Jedi Master Mace
Windu.

LAMA SU (O.S.)
(from comm unit)
Master Windu, we are prepared for your
arrival. I wish I could say we were
prepared for this threat.

MACE
Don't worry, Prime Minister. We will do
everything we can to protect your people.

LAMA SU
I have no doubt.

We follow Mace and Ki-Adi-Mundi's fighters as they race
towards the stilt city of Tipoca. Giant waves broil and
crash beneath the ships. From out of nowhere, laser fire
grazes Mace's fighter.

INSIDE KI-ADI-MUNDI'S COCKPIT, he taps his display.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
Three droid ships, from the right.

MACE
I see them.

One of the droid ships opens fire on one of the Republic
fighters which catches fire and careens into the roiling
ocean. Mace spins his fighter in a barrel roll and breaks to
the left.

MACE (CONT'D)
Continue to the city, I will try to draw
them away.

Ki-Adi-Mundi leads yellow team towards the city as Mace
pilots his fighter directly towards the three ships. He
fires his guns and narrowly avoids the exploding debris of
one of the fighters. The other two turn quickly and fall in
behind Mace, lasers blasting. Mace executes some amazing
aerial feats trying to avoid the blasts.

INSIDE MACE'S COCKPIT, we see Mace's brow furrow. He senses
something. He adjusts something on his control panel and
then smiles knowingly.

Outside the ship, the droids are closing in. Mace quickly
jerks his fighter down, heading straight for the waters of
the ocean. The droids immediately follow. Mace yanks the
fighter horizontal again just above the roiling ocean. He
skims almost too close to the water, the droids drop in
behind him again and begin closing in.

Suddenly, white foam begins to rise from the water below the
droid ships. In a burst of water, two aiwha rise from the
ocean deeps and take to the air behind the droid fighters.
Water rains down from these huge beasts as their powerful
wings beat the air. On the backs of the aiwha are mounted two
Kaminoans.
The Kaminoans fire weapons mounted to the saddle backs that
send powerful blue blast waves towards the droid fighters.
The fighters are buffeted by the blasts and one of them
careens into the ocean. The other uprights long enough to be
blasted again by one of the Kaminoan guns. This droid too
crashes into the ocean.

INSIDE MACE'S COCKPIT, Mace slows the fighter and he smiles
again as he waves a thank you to the Kaminoans from his
cockpit window before engaging speed again and heading for
Tipico City.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

Obi-Wan and his squadrons of Republic fighters blast through
waves of droid fighters on their way to the Control Ships.
Gun turrets on the surface of the nearest control vessel open
fire.

OBI-WAN
Take out those guns! Red leader come
with me.

RED LEADER
How will do you plan to destroy those
control ships with small fighters?
Surely the Star Destroyer...

OBI-WAN
(interupting)
A big gun is not always the answer.
Besides, it's busy unloading the
transport ships. I'm going to show you a
little trick a friend of mine taught me.

Obi-Wan and Red Leader break from the pack and zoom towards
the center of the ship. Republic fighters from red team
begin raining laser fire down on the surface of the ship,
taking out the turrets.

Obi-Wan pilots his fighter carefully along the edge of the
control ship, Red Leader following closely behind. Suddenly,
Obi-Wan breaks towards a hangar bay. A force field drops as
more droid fighters exit the hangar to join the battle
outside. At that moment, Obi-Wan and Red Leader fly in.

INT - CONTROL SHIP HANGAR

Battle droids are smashed against the nose of the ships as
the fighters make their way through the hangar. The droids
come running towards the intruding fighters, but are either
blasted by the fighter's lasers or broken to pieces as the
fighters fly right through them.

RED LEADER
I hope you know what you're doing!

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, Obi-Wan smiles, but then the smile
turns to slight concern.

OBI-WAN
(to himself)
If Anakin could see me being reckless
like this... ugh, I hate flying.

There is an explosion over Obi-Wan's right shoulder...

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Red Leader?

RED LEADER
Still here...

Outside, Red Leader's fighter swerves around a flaming droid
ship that was docked in the hangar.

RED LEADER (CONT'D)
Sir, we're running out of hangar!

Ahead of Obi-Wan, a bulkhead comes screaming towards them.
Obi-Wan, slows the fighter quickly and spins, Red Leader does
the same and they both touch the hangar floor and screech
across, sparks flying. They pause there for a moment.

RED LEADER (CONT'D)
Sir?

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, we hear R4 beeping with annoyance.

OBI-WAN
I know R4... but you'll repair it when we
get back. It's what you do best.

R4 spins his head and blats at Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan smiles a bit
and then looks ahead. Dozens of battle droids march towards
them and a few destroyer droids roll in.

INSIDE RED LEADER'S COCKPIT, Red Leader watches the droids
carefully.

RED LEADER
Um, sir?

OBI-WAN
Now.

Obi-Wan opens fire with his lasers as does Red Leader. They
begin mowing down the droids.

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, we see him targeting the reactor
room across the hangar.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Get ready to run, Red Leader.

INSIDE RED LEADER'S COCKPIT, he continues to blast droids and
shakes his head.

Outside in the hangar, we see Obi-Wan's fighter let loose two
missles that whistle and careen through the hangar towards
the reactor room. The fighter lurches forward and knocks any
remaining droids to the side as it speeds towards the exit.
Red Leader follows.

Behind them, the hangar explodes into white light and flame.
The fighters boost forward, flames licking at their tails as
they blow out of the hangar.

The explosion follows them out into space.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

The two fighters race away from the explosion as the control
ship begins breaking apart. A droid fighter fires at Red
Leader, but Obi-Wan destroys it with a hail of lasers.

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, Obi-Wan fiddles with his displays.

OBI-WAN
There you go, red leader... there are two
more. Take your team, go and do
likewise.

RED LEADER
Yes sir!

Obi Wan blasts a couple more droid fighters and begins to
head towards the surface.

There is a flash of light from one of the remaining control
ships and something zooms towards the planet with great
speed.

OBI-WAN
Now what is that?

Obi-Wan reverts course and races towards the plummeting
object.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
(into com-link)
Master Windu.

MACE (O.S.)
(from com-link)
Yes, Obi-Wan.

OBI-WAN
One of the control ships has ejected
something towards the surface of the
planet. According to the trajectory it
appears to be headed towards your
location.

MACE (O.S.)
(from com-link)
A bomb?

OBI-WAN
I don't think so. It's actually appears
that it will impact in the water.

MACE (O.S.)
(from com-link)
We'll check it out.

Obi-Wan's face grows grim as he watches what appears to be
some sort of large pod race towards the planet.

EXT - TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Clone troopers are setting up some gun turrets as Mace Windu
peers towards the sky his hand covering his eyes from the
pelting rain. Ki-Adi-Mundi and LAMA SU come up behind him.

The pod Obi-Wan saw is racing towards them from the sky, but
then impacts into the ocean with a tremendous plume of water
rising into the sky. The water crashes down over the site of
impact and the object appears to sink into the ocean.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
What do you think?

MACE
I didn't sense any life-forms.

LAMA SU
I will send someone down to investigate.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
Best be careful.

Lama Su nods slowly and turns towards a group of Kaminoans
carrying smooth curved blasters.

KI-ADI-MUNDI (CONT'D)
Prime Minister, you'd best get inside
now!

Lama Su nods and heads inside as the armed Kaminoans follow.

Ki-Adi-Mundi looks at Mace.

KI-ADI-MUNDI (CONT'D)
You are troubled.

MACE
I've got a bad feeling about this.

Mace looks up as more pods fall from the sky. He turns to Ki
Adi-Mundi who returns the grim look.

Suddenly the platform quakes. Clone troopers fall down, while
others cling to turrets to keep their footing. Mace and Ki
Adi-Mundi are both bathed in a glowing light as they raise
their light sabers at the same time.

The platform is rocked again.

MACE (CONT'D)
They're coming through the bottom!

As if on cue, there is an explosion as the floor of the
platform bursts upwards, sending clone troopers flying and
knocking over two gun turrets. Hald a dozen balls of metal
hurl upward through the newly blasted hole and hit the
platform rolling.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
Destroyers!

The metal balls roll to a stop and unfold into destroyer
droids that begin opening fire. Clone troopers begin
returning fire that is absorbed into the destroyer force
fields.

Mace and Ki-Adi-Mundi begin deflecting the barrage with their
light sabers and heading for the hole in the platform where
large bulkier versions of battle droids begin climbing out of
the rubble.

KI-ADI-MUNDI (CONT'D)
We must'nt let them get inside!

Mace swings his saber at one of these metallic monsters,
severing a mechanical arm. The other arm of the droid comes
down, but Mace flits to the side narrowly avoiding being
smashed by the heavy metal fist. With agility only a Jedi
can muster, Mace swings around behind the monster. For a
moment we can't see him, but before the droid can turn
around, purple light flashes through its midsection and its
torso topples from atop its legs and we see Mace behind it
lightsaber blazing.

He turns to see two more droids heading inside the cloning
facility. He follows quickly.

More pods begin falling from the sky and crashing into the
ocean. Some of them resurface and skim along the roiling
waters with ease. Turrets open on the sides and cannons
protrude. Other pods resurface and open bays letting loose
cadres of battle droids on STAPS that whiz through the
downpour towards Tipoca City.

Ki-Adi-Mundi observes Mace following the two droids into the
facility as he himself quickly dispatches a droid with his
lightsaber. Then he turns his attention towards the oncoming
droid forces in the ocean.

KI-ADI-MUNDI (CONT'D)
(to the nearest clone trooper)
How soon until the transports arrive?

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

Transports are rocketing from the Star Destroyer towards the
planet's surface. Obi-Wan watches the Republic fighters
escorting the ground force transports.

OBI-WAN
Red leader, how are you coming with those
control ships? Something tells me we
have trouble on the surface.

We cut to Red Leader and some fighters from Red Team engaging
droid fighters near the second control ship.

RED LEADER
We're having a little difficulty getting
near, sir. The droid fighters are
everywhere.

OBI-WAN
I'm on my way. Do what you can to take
out that second control ship. I'll head
for the third. Orange leader?

ORANGE LEADER
Yes sir.

OBI-WAN
Focus your attack on the third control
ship. I will join you there shortly.

ORANGE LEADER
Yes sir!

Obi-Wan's fighter breaks towards the control ships.

INT - CLONING FACILITY

One of the droids turns towards Mace and opens fire, while
the other droid heads down a corridor.

Mace deflects the blasts and uses the force to push the
droid's blaster towards the wall of the corridor. The lasers
hit some piping in the wall which crashes down on the droid's
head. Mace rushes forward and finishes the droid with a blow
severing it's head in a spray of sparks.

He steps over the sputtering droid and peers around the
corridor wall looking for the other droid. His eyes grow
stern as he senses danger. He cocks his head to one side for
a moment and then whips around, lightsaber whirring. He
instantly deflects a laser blast and then force-pushes
towards his attacker...

A young thirteen year old BOBA FETT is thrown backward
against the corridor wall, smacking his head... a blaster
falls from his hands. He slides slowly down the wall,
holding the back of his head.

BOBA
You murderer...

Mace's face softens.

MACE
You feel much anger, young one. It is
understandable.

BOBA
You killed my father...

MACE
Taking my life will not bring him back.
In fact, if we do not act now, we are
both in great danger. Do you know where
this corridor leads?

BOBA
Why should I help you?

MACE
These Kaminoans... they've been like a
family to you.

Boba's face lightens a bit. He nods.

MACE (CONT'D)
There are forces at work who would
destroy them. You would have that
happen?

Boba thinks for a moment.

BOBA
They'll probably try to blow the main
conduit. It would cause a reaction that
would drop the city into the water.

MACE
You're sure?

Boba shrugs.

BOBA
It's what I'd do.

Mace nods. Boba picks up his blaster slowly.

BOBA (CONT'D)
Follow me, there's a quicker way.

Boba runs down another corridor and Mace follows.

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Ki-Adi-Mundi continues to battle droids on the platform as we
pan back and see droid aquatic tanks advancing on the city.
Aihwa aremed with riders and cannons swoop and fly
everywhere, blasting their blue cannon waves towards the
oncoming tanks. A tank turret sends lasers through a nearby
aiwha that lurches in the air and plummets into the ocean,
rider and all. Another aiwha swoops in and blasts the tank
with it's cannon.

Ki-Adi-Mundi notices three more droids and two destroyers
have made their way into the facility.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
(into com-link)
Master Windu, you're getting some
company.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

Obi-Wan manuevers his fighter through exploding droid
fighters and joins Orange team as they advance on the third
control ship. Behind them, there is an explosion and
shockwave as control ship number two explodes.

OBI-WAN
Nice job, Red Leader.

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Several STAPS suddenly fall from the sky and clatter to the
platform, spilling their now disabled battle droids across
the ground.

More tanks advance on the city, however and the battle rages.
Republic transports lower down around the city and hover
above the waves. Bay doors drop open and Republic speeders
zoom out, skidding across the waves towards the attacking
forces, guns blazing and tearing through tank metal.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

Obi-Wan and Orange team advance on the last control ship. Obi
Wan careens towards the open hangar bay. R4 whizzes and
bleeps.

OBI-WAN
You're right R4. The force field is
down, but there aren't any ships coming
out.

Obi-Wan continues towards the bay. His brow furrows.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Something is not right.

Obi-Wan suddenly turns course and zooms up the side of the
control ship. Orange leader flies right into the hangar.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
NO! Orange leader, fall back!

INT. CONTROL SHIP 3 HANGAR

Orange leader roars through the hangar bay, but before he can
make it to the end, he sees the danger.

A large cannon has been erected blocking the entrance to the
back of the hangar bay where the reactor room is. It pulses
to life and Orange leader is obliterated. Droids come from
everywhere to begin putting out the fires started by the
exploding fighter.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

INSIDE OBI-WAN'S COCKPIT, he closes his eyes and lowers his
head slightly.

OBI-WAN
Orange team, fall back. We have to find
another way!

INT. CLONING FACILITY

Mace follows Boba into a ventilator shaft.

BOBA
This will drop us right above the main
conduit.

Boba slips through the narrow shaft and stops above a
grating. He looks through and then back at Mace. Mace looks
through the grating.

Below them, the droid is erecting some sort of explosive
device.

MACE
(to Boba)
Stay here.

In the corridor, the droid works diligently. Above it,
purple light explodes as the grating falls from the ceiling.
In a flash, Mace drops down. The droid spins quickly and
begins firing at Mace. He deflects the shots with his blade,
leaps into the air and comes down behind the droid with ease.
Two quick swipes deconstruct the monster.

A clattering sound down the hallway announces the arrival of
destroyer droids. Mace turns to face them. Two destroyers
roll up and unfold, lasers blasting. Mace deflects the
blasts back and they bounce harmlessly off the destroyer
droids' sheilds. Three of the Super Droids come up behind
the destroyers.

Mace continues to deftly block lasers. A clank sound is
heard and he sees a small metal ball roll slowly down the
hallway. Boba steps up behind Mace and watches it roll.
Mace pushes Boba behind a jutting wall and ducks behind as
well. He presses close against the wall as lasers ping and
careen past him.

The ball rolls slowly down the hall and penetrates the sheild
surrounding one of the destroyers. The destroyer pays it no
mind as it stops between it's legs. It just keeps firing.

Mace glances down at Boba and Boba grins as he presses a
trigger on his belt.

Electric bolts fire out of the ball, piercing through the
metal skeleton and causing the destroyer to shake violently.
It begins to spin erratically taking out the three super
droids behind it.

MACE (CONT'D)
Very nice.

Mace jumps out and yanks some wires away from the explosive
device. He gently pulls out the core of the device, a
pulsating orange canister. Boba fires his blaster at the
droids.

MACE (CONT'D)
We must hurry.

Mace and Boba run down the corridor away from the disoriented
droids. The one still functioning destroyer folds up and
begins rolling after them.

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD 2

Mace and Boba rush out of the door into the rain. Mace
motions Boba to get out of the way, and Mace stands next to
the doorway. In the instant the droid rolls through the
door, Mace lunges forward and jams the glowing canister
between flaps of metal. The droid skids to a stop and begins
to unfold, but appears stuck slightly.

Calling on the force, Mace concentrates hard and throws his
hands out in front of him. The droid is thrust into the air
and hurled out into the sea where it explodes, sending water
pluming high into the air.

MACE
(looking at the water)
I must get back up top.

He turns and Boba stands there with his blaster trained on
him.

MACE (CONT'D)
You don't want to shoot me now.

Boba's eyes glaze a bit. He shuts them and shakes his head.

BOBA
What?

MACE
You want to let me go so I can help your
friends.

Boba's eyes tear. He is struggling against the Jedi mind
trick.

BOBA
But...

MACE
(waving his hand)
You are going to let me go now...

Boba slowly lowers the gun and drops to his knees. Mace puts
a hand on his shoulder.

MACE (CONT'D)
Let go of your anger, my son. It will
consume you.

Mace watches him a moment longer and then heads back into the
facility. Boba puts his head in his hands and sobs. Then he
looks up, as though suddenly aware he was tricked. His eyes
blaze.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

The Star Destroyer, now finished letting the transport ships
disembark, lumbers towards the remaining control ship.

Obi-Wan blasts some droid ships as he retreats from the
control ship.

OBI-WAN
All teams, head back for the Destroyer.
This battle's over now.

The republic fighters race away as the Destroyer focuses
cannons on the control ship.

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Mace rushes out onto the landing pad to join Ki-Adi-Mundi in
dispatching some more droids coming up through the hole in
the floor.

In the water, the battle rages, speeders clash with STAPS and
tanks, aiwha and riders swoop in and out of the battle.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

The Star Destroyer opens fire and the control ship is
engulfed in light as it explodes.

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Suddenly all STAPS fall from the sky and crash into the ocean
or sides of the facilities. The water tanks rumble to stops
and begin to sink into the water.

Mace kicks a disabled droid out of his way as Ki-Adi-Mundi
knocks a frozen one over with a slight force push. A clone
trooper steps up beside Mace.

CLONE TROOPER
That's why clones are better than droids.

Mace nods as the clone moves to begin help with the cleanup
of the platform.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
That was getting too close for comfort,
would you agree?

MACE
Yes, I...

Mace's brow furrows and Ki-Adi-Mundi senses something as
well. We close up on Mace's face and begin to pan back.
Behind him, slowly rising over the edge of the platform...

...is Slave I with Boba Fett at the controls. Slowly Mace
turns around and faces the looming spacecraft.

CLOSE ON Boba's face as his anger gets the better of him. He
yanks on the triggers and opens fire with his lasers.

Mace and Ki-Adi-Mundi flip and dive out of the way. Slave I
rises and crosses to the other side, turning to face the Jedi
again.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
(to Mace)
Friend of yours?

Mace force pushes several disabled droids across the platform
and up into the air. They crash against the cockpit window,
and Boba is distracted temporarily.

Clone troopers stand around unsure as to what to do. Ki-Adi
Mundi waves his hand at them.

KI-ADI-MUNDI (CONT'D)
Fire, you fools!

The troopers look at each other and at the ship. Something
is holding them back. Missle bays on Slave I open. Mace
begins to run towards the hole in the platform.

MACE
Look out!

The missles disengage and race towards the platform. Ki-Adi
Mundi shoves Mace out of the way and Mace leaps into the air.
There is a loud explosion and clone troopers are thrown left
and right.

FROM BOBA'S COCKPIT, we watch the platform erupt in flames.
Boba looks carefully. Sees no sign of either Jedi and smiles
evilly. He then turns the ship around and rockets towards
space.

EXT. SPACE - KAMINO

Obi-Wan is on his way into the atmosphere of the planet when
he picks up Slave I on his sensors. The ship whizzes past
Obi-Wan and out of the atmosphere. He looks back but doesn't
pursue.

OBI-WAN
Master Windu? Master Ki-Adi-Mundi? Are
you there? I felt a disturbance...
please answer!

EXT. TIPOCA CITY LANDING PAD

Several clone troopers struggle to get up after being knocked
aside by the missle concussion. Kaminoans file out of the
facility to investigate. Ki-Adi-Mundi struggles to stand,
but he is hurt badly. Obi-Wan's fighter lands roughly on one
of the few undamaged parts of the platform. He jumps from
the cockpit and rushes towards Ki-Adi-Mundi.

OBI-WAN
No! Please, Master... are you okay?

KI-ADI-MUNDI
We did well today, Obi-Wan.

OBI-WAN
No, please... stay with me. We will get
you medical attention.

KI-ADI-MUNDI
It's too late, Obi-Wan. It is my time.
I will become one with the force this
day.

OBI-WAN
But...

KI-ADI-MUNDI
No more... find Master Windu.

OBI-WAN
Was he...?

Obi-Wan looks up at some of the troopers who just shrug and
shake their heads. There is a clinking sound over by the
hole in the platform made by the first droid attack. Obi-Wan
gently lays Ki-Adi-Mundi down and some of the troopers attend
to him. Obi-Wan makes his way over to the hole and peers
down inside. Dangling above the roiling ocean several meters
down is Mace, holding desperately onto a wire attached to his
grappling hook. The hook is attached to some piping within
the hole.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Master Windu!

MACE
Glad you could make it, Obi-Wan. I could
use your help right about now.

Obi-Wan smiles with relief and looks back to the clone
troopers attending to Ki-Adi-Mundi. They have backed away as
Ki-Adi-Mundi's clothes lay on the platform, but Ki-Adi-Mundi
has disappeared.

Kopernikuz, welcome to the Senate! And this is a good fan script ... one of the best I've read so far. I look forward to reading more.

The following takes place immediately after the death of Ki-Adi-Mundi in the previous scenes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

FADE TO

INT. STAR DESTROYER

Mace and Obi-Wan supervise the return of the clone transports
onto the star destroyer. Both wear grim expressions.

MACE
Another of our brothers is lost today,
Obi-Wan. I fear the tide is turning
against us.

OBI-WAN
We are winning the war, Master Windu.

MACE
Are we?

OBI-WAN
You sense something.

MACE
I sense that more and more we are playing
into the hands of the Sith. The Dark
Side is strong, Obi-Wan... perhaps
stronger than we can expect to defend
against. Particularly with our ranks
dwindling.

OBI-WAN
Master Yoda feels it too, doesn't he.

MACE
Yes. Still, we must press on.
(forcing a smile)
You did nice work in that fighter today.
Your padawan would be proud.

OBI-WAN
(smiling now too)
When it comes to flying, I learn much
more from him than he could from me.

Obi-Wan smiles then falters, concern creases his brow.

MACE
You worry for him?

OBI-WAN
He still shows so much promise, and yet I
do not feel right about his progress.

MACE
Your padawan is stronger than you are
willing to admit, Obi-Wan. You've
hesitated to let him enter the trials.
His training should be complete.

OBI-WAN
He's arrogant, master. Over confident...
traits which can destroy a Jedi.

MACE
True. It is hard, Obi-Wan, but you must
be willing to let go, and let him learn
for himself. His destiny is already set.
You must allow him to grow up.

OBI-WAN
Well, he is getting his chance with the
peacekeeping efforts on Theorin.

MACE
Some independence will serve him well.

OBI-WAN
I fear it will be his undoing.

WE WIPE TO:

EXT. CORUSCANT LANDING PAD

A Republic transport lands on the pad and the doors open.
Jedi Master ADI GALLIA and ANAKIN SKYWALKER exit the
transport.

ANAKIN
It's good to be back away from so much
destruction.

ADI GALLIA
Yes, young one. We have borne witness to
the fruits of war.

ANAKIN
I still feel we are remiss in our
actions. The ones responsible should be
punished.

ADI GALLIA
Those who seek to destroy reap
destruction on themselves. Dooku and his
forces only sentence themselves further
with each unprovoked attack.

Anakin glances down at his metallic hand glinting in the
moonlight.

ANAKIN
Dooku will pay. That is for certain.

ADI GALLIA
You should not meditate on such things,
Anakin. Your focus should be justice,
not revenge. Obi-Wan would agree were he
here right now.

ANAKIN
But does not revenge in this case serve
justice?

ADI GALLIA
The ends are the same... but not the
means. One path makes one a hero... the
other makes one no better than the evil
he destroys.

ANAKIN
You are right of course, Master Gallia.

Anakin looks at the sky.

ADI GALLIA
You also think on your Master?

ANAKIN
I just wonder how he's doing.

ADI GALLIA
You miss him.

ANAKIN
In a way. I am grateful to be allowed
this mission on my own, but at the same
time...

Adi Gallia nods.

ADI GALLIA
I understand. One's master is much like
one's father.

ANAKIN
In this case... he's the only one I've
ever known. I have been hard on him.
But I know I am ready for the trials.

ADI GALLIA
Perhaps when this conflict has ended, you
will have your chance.

Anakin nods. Adi Gallia examines his face.

ADI GALLIA (CONT'D)
There is more, though? Someone else you
miss...

Anakin looks up quickly and tries to dismiss it.

ANAKIN
No. It's just... I just worry for the
Republic. That is all...

Adi Gallia's eyes narrow. She can tell there is more he is
not saying.

ADI GALLIA
You should rest. The day has been long,
and I fear tomorrow will be longer.

ANAKIN
I think I'll check on the conflict at
Naboo.

ADI GALLIA
Naboo?

Anakin starts...

ANAKIN
I mean Kamino, of course. With Obi-Wan.
Maybe I do need that rest after all.
Thank you for the talk.

ADI GALLIA
Keep heart, Anakin.

Adi Gallia puts her hand on his shoulder and smiles. He
returns the smile, though it is pained. Adi Gallia's smile
falters a bit and she turns to walk away. Anakin watches her
leave and then looks at the sky again.

INT. STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

A hologram of Master Yoda flickers to life as Mace and Obi
Wan look on.

YODA
Master Windu, Master Kenobi. Pleased am I
to see you alive today.

OBI-WAN
Master Ki-Adi-Mundi was...

YODA
Yes, difficult news that is. One with the
force is he. But a more pressing matter
we must now address.

SENATOR BAIL ORGANA appears in the hologram now.

ORGANA
We believe the Federation attack on
Kamino was only a decoy.

OBI-WAN
It WAS a pretty small invasion force.

ORGANA
They are desperate. With only them and
the Techno-Union still surviving, they
have launched a full-scale offensive on
Naboo. You are needed there immediately.

MACE
We will set course now.

WE CUT TO:

INT. PALPATINE'S OFFICE

PALPATINE sits smugly behind his desk, his fingers pointed
together into a tent beneath his chin. The holo-image of
Mace Windu flickers off as the communication ends. Bail
Organa, Yoda, several Jedi Council members and senators stand
around the desk.

YODA
Chancellor, Senators, if you will excuse
us, to Naboo, I must go.

PALPATINE
Of course, Master Yoda. Your wisdom and
guidance has been most appreciated.

Yoda eyes Palpatine for a moment and then turns to leave, the
rest of the Jedi following.

ORGANA
Yes, Chancellor, I too must go, I need to
return to Alderaan. It is very likely we
are the next target.

PALPATINE
Senator, I have anticipated this move and
sent a fleet to protect your homeworld.
You need not worry about anything
happening to Alderaan under my watchful
eye. Your assistance and advisement on
these matters is very valuable to me
here. I hope that you will stay.

Organa looks at him a moment longer as though he senses some
untruth in Palpatine's words.

ORGANA
At the first sign of a threat,
Chancellor, you must understand, I will
have to go.

PALPATINE
Of course. Thank you Senator for your
loyalty.

ORGANA
I am loyal to this Republic, Chancellor.
I've made it clear that I am uncertain
about your motives of late.

PALPATINE
Yes, you have. But the reason I need you
to stay is because I need you and the
other senators present now to examine
some new evidence that has come to my
attention that may help you understand my
motives.

ORGANA
Evidence? Of what?

PALPATINE
Sedition, my friend. Treason. Secrecy
and lies. Our friends are our enemies...
and our enemies are our friends...

ORGANA
What are you driving at, Chancellor.

PALPATINE
(gestures to one of his
assistants)
Bring in Governor Tarkin.

ORGANA
Who?

A lithe gentleman with chiseled features, TARKIN enters the room
behind Palpatine's assistant.

PALPATINE
I believe many of you know Governor
Tarkin.

The Senators nod greetings and Tarkin returns the nods.

PALPATINE
We have all wondered about the mystery
surrounding the creation of this clone
army. So, I appointed Governor Tarkin
here to investigate. While we are
greatly appreciative of the army's timely
arrival, it seems it was never meant for
our use to begin with.

ORGANA
What do you mean?

TARKIN
I've spent some time digging into the
mystery. It seems a Jedi named Sifodyas
ordered the army on behalf of the Jedi.

ORGANA
How do you know this?

TARKIN
The Kaminoans will share much information
if the price is right. They were told
that the army was for the Republic. If
this were true why didn't we hear
anything about this army prior?
Shouldn't the Senate have been involved?

One of the other Senator's speaks up...

SENATOR #1
We were embroiled in debate while the
Jedi were already building the army. Why
would they do this?

PALPATINE
Is it not obvious? Look at the facts
Senators. You all must draw the same
conclusion that I have. Count Dooku is
behind the separatist threat. They say
he was a former Jedi, but don't you think
it strange that this former Jedi would
start stirring things up and trying to
start a war against the Republic?

ORGANA
You're saying the Jedi were in league
with Dooku all along? Chancellor, the
Jedi helped us in this war. There's no
reason to think...

PALPATINE
Of course they helped us, once they were
found out. Once their hand was forced.
Clearly they were building this army and
stirring up the separatists in order to
wage their own war against us.

ORGANA
The Jedi have been peacemakers in the
galaxy for thousands of years, you can't
think this of them.

SENATOR #2
It was no secret that they were becoming
increasingly frustrated with the debates
in the senate.

SENATOR #1
It does stand to reason. Why would they
build this army in secret?

ORGANA
This is madness. Master Yoda should be
here to defend himself. We shouldn't be
discussing this behind the back of the
Jedi council.

PALPATINE
In the same way they built their
conquering army behind the back of the
Republic?

Organa frowns unable to believe it.

TARKIN
The Kaminoans confirmed that it was a
Jedi Master, one of their own council
members in fact, who approached them
about the army. The sample for the
clones was a bounty hunter named Jango
Fett, who died in the service of Count
Dooku on Geonosius. This same Bounty
Hunter was the one discovered responsible
for the assassination attempt on Senator
Amidala.

ORGANA
Now you're saying the Jedi were behind
the attack on Amidala? Didn't the Jedi
assign her protection?

PALPATINE
At my request, Senator Organa. I feared
for her safety and requested they help. You
were present, Senator, don't you remember?
Little did I know I could have been
throwing her to the wolves.

ORGANA
Who is this Sifodyas? Where is he now,
let's question him.

PALPATINE
He's dead.

ORGANA
Dead, how?

PALPATINE
It makes little difference. If a member
of the council made this order, it is
clear that Master Yoda is behind it.

ORGANA
Jedi have died defending the Republic in
this war, Chancellor.

PALPATINE
Died trying to cover their tracks,
Senator.

SENATOR #1
It is clear to me that we can no longer
trust the Jedi.

SENATOR #2
We must act quickly.

ORGANA
We must put it to a vote.

PALPATINE
I'm afraid that won't be necessary as
long as I retain emergency powers... in
the interest of the Republic's welfare, I
think it best to cut ties with the Jedi.
Master Yoda is on his way into the thick
of the battle on Naboo.
Once we have triumphed over the
separatists there, we will deal with the
Master Jedi... should they even survive.

ORGANA
I cannot support this endeavor,
Chancellor. Your power has blinded you.

PALPATINE
Your ignorance has blinded you, Senator.
Perhaps you should return to Alderaan
after all.

Organa frowns and then looks at the other senators.

ORGANA
You're subscribing to this madness
without hearing the side of the Jedi?

SENATOR #1
They are powerful, Organa. They are able
to sway our opinions with a wave of their
hands. How can we trust them further?

ORGANA
You are all insane. The rest of the
senate won't stand for this. You'll see.

Organa storms out and Palpatine smiles smugly.

PALPATINE
I'm afraid the Senator's loyalties are in
the wrong place, my friends.

The other senators nod as

WE WIPE TO:

INT. PADME'S QUARTERS

PADME AMIDALA, eight months pregnant, sits on the edge of her
bed, sadness etched in her face. She stares at an animated
photo on a table next to her bed of she and Anakin in happier
times. C3PO and R2D2 are also in the room. C3PO is packing
Padme's suitcases.

C3PO
I do wish you'd recognize the urgency,
Miss Amidala.

PADME
I can't leave until I've heard from him
3PO.

C3PO
I'm sure Master Anakin will contact you
once we are safely away from this place.

R2 beeps and whirrs.

C3PO (CONT'D)
And what would you know about love, R2D2?

R2 blats back at 3PO and Padme smiles slightly at their
bickering. There is a beeping sound from a holo panel on the
wall.

PADME
Yes?

Sola's voice crackles from the speaker.

SOLA
You have a communication, Padme.

PADME
Is it...?

SOLA
Yes... and this time...

PADME
Sola, please...

SOLA
Fine...

The holopad flickers to life with Anakin's image as Padme
moves close in to the camera.

WE CUT TO:

INT. ANAKIN'S QUARTERS - CORUSCANT

We see Anakin's holoviewer and catch a glimpse of Padme as
she moves closer to the camera and the hologram becomes an
image of only her shoulders and face.

PADME
Anakin!

ANAKIN
Padme, I've missed you.

PADME
I've missed you too... I am so glad you
are safe. Where are you?

INTERCUT. BETWEEN PADME'S QUARTERS AND ANAKIN'S QUARTERS

ANAKIN
I'm back on Coruscant. You should have
seen it Padme. The battle on Theorin was
incredible.

PADME
You were heroic as usual, I'm sure.

ANAKIN
(smiling proudly)
Well, some have said so..

PADME
You're certainly my hero.

ANAKIN
What is happening on Naboo?

PADME
They're trying to evacuate us...

ANAKIN
Trying? What do you mean... why haven't
you left?

PADME
I... I will...

ANAKIN
Promise me. I couldn't bear it if
anything should happen to you.

PADME
I will, Anakin.

ANAKIN
When this conflict is over, we will be
together for good.

PADME
You know that can't happen, Anakin.

ANAKIN
Why not?

PADME
You'd be expelled from the order.

ANAKIN
I will challenge that rule. It is an old
rule anyway. When I complete the trials
and prove myself to them, they will not
be able to deny me what I want. They
will see how important I am to the order.

PADME
There it is again.

ANAKIN
What?

PADME
I don't know if it's confidence or
arrogance.

ANAKIN
Padme, please. I haven't seen you in
months. I do not wish to fight.

PADME
I'm sorry. You are right.

Anakin looks concerned.

ANAKIN
There is something wrong. I can tell.

Padme involuntarily puts her hands over her swollen belly.

PADME
There isn't Anakin. Just focus on your
missions and hurry back to me safely.

ANAKIN
I will. I love you, Padme.

PADME
I love you too, Anakin.

A tear forms at the corner of her eye as her sister SOLA
enters.

ANAKIN
I will contact you again soon.

PADME
Goodbye.

SOLA
Padme, they are evacuating. We need to
get you to safety.

PADME
I can't go on regular transport, Sola,
you know that.

SOLA
Padme, you can't keep hiding. Sooner or
later, everyone is going to know. You've
been cooped up in this house for six
months...

PADME
Six months.

SOLA
Padme, it can't remain a secret
forever... especially now.

PADME
Stop it Sola! You don't understand. You
can't understand!

Padme averts her eyes.

SOLA
Padme... what did Anakin say when you
told him.

Padme doesn't answer.

SOLA (CONT'D)
You didn't tell him?

PADME
How could I, Sola?

SOLA
How could you NOT? Padme, in eight
months... in all that time, he's
contacted you how many times and you
didn't tell him once?

PADME
Sola, he is fighting a war. He can't be
distracted...

SOLA
What are you going to say when he finally
sees you?

PADME
I don't know Sola! I don't have it all
planned out! I didn't plan any of this.

SOLA
You've always been so strong. I've always
looked at you and wondered how you did
it, how you could be so mature so young.
You were so strong... so serious.

Sola sits on the bed beside Padme and puts her arms around
her.

SOLA (CONT'D)
But this decision, Padme... this
marriage... it was the decision of a
giggling school girl... not of a former
queen... not of a senator...

PADME
(very emotional now)
Maybe it's because I was never allowed to
be that giggling schoolgirl. Maybe it's
because I was tired of being so serious!
Maybe it's because... oh Sola...

She begins crying again.

PADME (CONT'D)
Maybe it was because... I... love him.
I've never been more sure of anything in
my life, yet at the same time... I can't
help feeling this darkness about the
whole thing...

SOLA
You can't hide any longer. Should the
Republic be unable to hold back the
Confederate forces here, Padme, they
could be in the city by nightfall. We
must get you to safety... for your
sake... and the sake of your child.

Padme nods as there is a knock on the door. Sola rises and
opens the door slightly. It is JOBAL, Padme's mother.

JOBAL
Sola, there is someone here to see Padme.

SOLA
Mother, you know she can't...

JOBAL
She must...

Sola looks back at Padme who just shrugs sadly. Sola opens
the door wider and Jobal steps aside to reveal Yoda behind
her.

PADME
Master Yoda?

She pulls blankets up from her bed to cover her stomach.
Yoda hobbles his way into the room.

YODA
Unnecessary, hiding it is. Know already
I do.

PADME
Oh, Master Yoda...

Padme slowly kneels on the ground next to the old Jedi.

PADME (CONT'D)
How long have you known.

YODA
From the beginning. Emotions are high in
your husband. Easy to sense they are.

PADME
We couldn't help it, Master Yoda, we...
we...

YODA
Were in love. Intertwined your destinies
were from the beginning I now see.

PADME
Will Anakin be forced from the order?

YODA
On this, the Jedi code is clear.

PADME
I fear that will kill him...

YODA
Unclear your husband's future is.
However, danger is your future here. A
great change in events, I sense now...
(to Sola)
She will ride on my transport. Hurry we
must.

Padme begins packing as Yoda leaves and

INT. PALPATINE'S OFFICE

An assistant leads Anakin into Palpatine's office.

ANAKIN
You wanted to see me, Chancellor?

PALPATINE
Hello Anakin. It thrills me to see you
safely returning from battle. Your
bravery and courage have not gone
unnoticed here in the capital, my son.

ANAKIN
Thank you sir. I only wish to see a safe
and peaceful Republic again.

PALPATINE
Of course. That is my desire as well,
but I fear it will not be as simple as
defeating the separatists.

ANAKIN
What do you mean?

PALPATINE
Anakin, I need to know if you trust me.

ANAKIN
Of course, Chancellor. You are about the
only politician I can stomach on
Coruscant. That and you've been my most
staunch supporter and advocate.

PALPATINE
(smiles slightly)
I appreciate that, my son. But the news
I am about to give you will be most
disturbing indeed. And it will most
likely challenge everything you've been
taught to believe.

ANAKIN
What do you mean?

PALPATINE
Anakin... are you loyal to the Republic?

ANAKIN
Of course. You know I am.

PALPATINE
Are you loyal to the Jedi Order?

ANAKIN
The loyalties are intertwined,
Chancellor. I cannot be loyal to one
without the other.

PALPATINE
I'm afraid those times are changing, my
son. It seems that the loyalties of the
Jedi are in question.

ANAKIN
What are you saying?

PALPATINE
Evidence has come to my attention,
implicating the Jedi in a conspiracy
against the Republic, Anakin. Evidence
that cannot be ignored.

ANAKIN
That's not possible, Chancellor.

PALPATINE
It appears that Count Dooku is in league
with the Jedi to create this conflict so
that they might take over the Republic in
its time of need. Were you aware that
the very clone army you command now was
ordered by the Jedi without the knowledge
of the senate?

ANAKIN
No sir.

PALPATINE
The Kaminoans themselves have confirmed
that A Jedi Master named Sifodyas ordered
the clones.

ANAKIN
Sifodyas? I know the name only. But he
is not with the order now, I know.

PALPATINE
Anakin, this will be hard for you to
accept. But it is clear there is
something not quite right going on.
I need your loyalty to the Republic right
now. I need your help to expose this
conspiracy, if it does in fact exist.

ANAKIN
My loyalty is first to the Order,
Chancellor.

PALPATINE
But as you yourself said, Anakin, the
Jedi serve the Republic in keeping peace
and justice. Is it not therefore implied
that your commission is to defend peace
and justice in the galaxy?

ANAKIN
Of course.

PALPATINE
Then in the interests of that pease and
in the pursuit of that justice, I ask
that you help me uncover the truth. In
the process, you must not acknowledge
that you know of this suspected plot.

ANAKIN
You're asking me to lie?

PALPATINE
I'm asking you to hide the truth.

ANAKIN
From Jedi...

PALPATINE
I know that is difficult, but it is clear
to me that you are much more powerful
than any Jedi I've seen, Anakin. It is
also clear to me that you are the only
one I can trust until I know the truth.
Trust in yourself, Anakin, you are the
key to everything... why else do you
think they snatched you off of that
desert planet and took you away from your
mother?

ANAKIN
They sensed the force in me.

PALPATINE
They sensed the strongest presence of the
force yet.

ANAKIN
Then why haven't they allowed me to
complete my training? Why have they held
me back.

PALPATINE
Is the answer not obvious? If there is
one entity in the galaxy that can stop
them, the only safe course is to control
that entity and derail its destiny.

ANAKIN
What do you mean... stop them?

PALPATINE
They cannot destroy you, Anakin, so they
control you. They manipulate you and
they hold you back, because it is the
only way they can keep you from finding
the truth and stopping their plot.
Haven't you wondered why you haven't been
allowed to complete the trials? It is
clear that they never intend to allow you
to complete your training. Because then
they would no longer have control over
you. Surely you must see this.

ANAKIN
I don't understand. What you're
saying... what you're saying is confusing
me.

PALPATINE
If you doubt me, Anakin. Simply call
your beloved Amidala again.

ANAKIN
I just spoke to... wait... how did you
know...?

PALPATINE
It's not important. What is important is
that right now, she is a prisoner of the
Jedi.

ANAKIN
What?

PALPATINE
Her safety is very important to me as
well... I sent a garrison to escort her
to safery...
When they arrived, she had already been
taken from the planet by Master Yoda.

ANAKIN
For her protection... that is all, I'm
sure.

PALPATINE
Is it? Contact Master Yoda, then... ask
him about her welfare...

ANAKIN
You know I can't...

PALPATINE
He would expel you from the order.

ANAKIN
Yes.

PALPATINE
More conspiracy against your happiness,
Anakin. More secrets... Yoda knows about
you and Amidala, rest assured. That is
why he has taken her. He plans to use
your feelings for her against you,
Anakin.

ANAKIN
I need... some time to contemplate this.

PALPATINE
Of course, but there is not much time to
be had, Anakin. Go, get some rest, and
we'll discuss the steps to be taken in
the morning.

Anakin nods wearily and turns to leave.

WE WIPE TO:

EXT. SPACE - NABOO

Jedi Fighters and Republic Fighters whip to and fro doing
battle with Droid fighters. A droid control ship explodes.
We pan over to see a massive Star Destroyer and we cut to:

INT. STAR DESTROYER

Obi-Wan enters a hangar within the Star Destroyer as a
transport ship arrives within. The hangar bay doors open and
clone troopers escort Yoda from the ship.

OBI-WAN
Master Yoda, it is good to see you.

YODA
You as well, Obi-Wan. Surprised you will
be to see an old friend as well...

Yoda gestures behind him and Padme, accompanied by her
family. Obi-Wan smiles with pleasure at the sight of
Padme... then slight shock at the sight of her condition.
Padme sees the shock and averts her eyes.

OBI-WAN
M'lady.

PADME
Master Kenobi.

OBI-WAN
It's been a while. Too long I would
wager...

Padme tears up.

PADME
I'm so sorry, Obi-Wan... I wanted so to
tell you...

Obi-Wan steps over and holds her.

OBI-WAN
Dear one... it is okay. I understand.

Obi-Wan looks at Yoda. Yoda sighs a bit and begins to hobble
away. Padme looks to her family who follow Yoda. Obi-Wan
stays back a bit with Padme.

PADME
Obi-Wan... he doesn't know.

OBI-WAN
I see. That's probably best.

PADME
We were married... shortly after
Geonosius.

OBI-WAN
Now I know what he's been up to on those
few visits here.

PADME
We weren't trying to be deceitful...

OBI-WAN
I don't know what to say. You two are in
a lot of trouble.

PADME
I know.

OBI-WAN
I was this close to approving the trials.
He'd never make it through with this on
his conscience.

PADME
He will be devastated, Obi-Wan. Isn't
there anything you can do?

OBI-WAN
I'm afraid my hands are tied, Padme. At
least you two will be together... that is
what matters, right?

PADME
Well, it is to me. But in the end... I
don't know how he would react to not
becoming a Jedi. He's obsessed with it,
Obi-Wan. He believes he will get the
council to change the rule.

OBI-WAN
Not likely, m'lady. But I think you are
right... he will take it hard. We should
get you to Coruscant...

Padme nods.

WE WIPE TO:

INT. JEDI ARCHIVES

Anakin sits at a data terminal as JOCASTA NU ushers some
young padawans towards an aisle. When they have all left,
Jocasta approaches Anakin.

JOCASTA
Hello, padawan. I have not seen you here
in ages.

ANAKIN
It has been a while. I'm trying to find
some information about previous members
of the council.

JOCASTA
Ah yes... who is it you inquire about?

ANAKIN
Sifodyas... was he on the council?

Jocasta is taken aback a bit. She clearly knows something.

JOCASTA
Of course... that information is in the
archives. He has been dead many years.

ANAKIN
Yes, that I see... but what I don't see
is any information surrounding the cause
of his death. The records have him
presiding on the council and then it just
reads "Confirmed dead".

JOCASTA
Jedi are powerful, young Skywalker... but
not immortal.

ANAKIN
So he just died? Of old age?

Jocasta bears a concerned look.

JOCASTA
The information in the archives would
imply as such.

Anakin frowns.

ANAKIN
Did you know him?

JOCASTA
I did.

ANAKIN
What can you tell me about him?

JOCASTA
Young padawan... I think with the current
trials of the Republic at hand, your
concentration should be on the present...
not the past.

ANAKIN
Perhaps the past holds answers to the
present...

JOCASTA
Perhaps...

There is a commotion somewhere down an aisle.

JOCASTA (CONT'D)
If you'll excuse me... I think the Bear
Clan may have just knocked over a
planetary exhibit.

She hurries off and Anakin frowns again. He looks back at
the screen at the glowing words "Confirmed Dead" and

INT. OBI-WAN'S QUARTERS ON STAR DESTROYER

Obi-Wan hold his head in his hands. He is clearly very
confused about what is happening. There is a beep and Obi
Wan examines a display. He presses a button and Anakin's
image flickers to life.

INTERCUT. OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN

OBI-WAN
Anakin... it's good to see you.

ANAKIN
And you master. I hear you flew the lead
in the attack of the control ships at
Kamino.

OBI-WAN
I did okay.

ANAKIN
I thought you hated flying.

OBI-WAN
Well, I'm getting used to it.

Anakin frowns.

ANAKIN
Something is wrong, master?

OBI-WAN
No.

ANAKIN
Have you seen Padme? Since you got to
Naboo?

Obi-Wan averts his eyes a moment, Anakin doesn't catch it.

OBI-WAN
Not yet, Anakin. But I'm sure I will...
a message perhaps? You'd like me to
convey?

ANAKIN
No. I just wondered about her safety...
with the conflict there and all...

OBI-WAN
Of course. Reports I have is that she is
fine.

ANAKIN
Where is she?

OBI-WAN
I believe with Master Yoda.

Anakin looks grim.

ANAKIN
I see.

OBI-WAN
What troubles you, Anakin?

ANAKIN
War is troubling, Master.

OBI-WAN
Is there anything else, you want to tell
me?

ANAKIN
Like what, master?

Obi-Wan sighs.

ANAKIN (CONT'D)
There is something I wanted to ask you.

OBI-WAN
Go ahead.

ANAKIN
What do you know about a Jedi named
Sifodyas?

Obi-Wan is surprised. His brow furrows...

OBI-WAN
Where did you hear that name, Anakin?

ANAKIN
From a friend.

OBI-WAN
What friend?

ANAKIN
Who is he? He has something to do with
the clone army, doesn't he? You know...
I can tell...

OBI-WAN
I don't know much, Anakin.

ANAKIN
You investigated on Kamino... did his
name come up?

OBI-WAN
Anakin, the mystery surrounding the clone
army is still just that... a mystery. I
know nothing more than you do...

Anakin broods.

ANAKIN
Why do I feel you are not being
completely candid, master?

OBI-WAN
You are still an apprentice, Anakin.
There is much you are not authorized to
know...

ANAKIN
Authorized?

OBI-WAN
Anakin... please do not push this issue
any further. I will bring you up to
speed as soon as I know something.

Anakin pouts.

ANAKIN
Yes master...

OBI-WAN
Now, Anakin...

Anakin's image flickers off.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Anakin?

He taps at the holopad controls.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
He hung up.

INT. YODA'S QUARTERS ON STAR DESTROYER

Yoda and Mace meditate but then are interupted when there is
a beeping.

YODA
Come.

The doors slide open and Obi-Wan enters.

YODA (CONT'D)
Ah, Master Obi-Wan... please have a seat.

OBI-WAN
Yes master...

Obi-Wan sits across from the two formidable Jedi. He looks a
little nervous.

OBI-WAN (CONT'D)
Please, Masters, I must say...

YODA
Surprised, were you... to see young
Skywalker's friend in this way?

OBI-WAN
Well, yes...

MACE
You did sense their affections before,
Obi-Wan.

OBI-WAN
Yes. I did not report it to you, master.
I felt I could handle it on my own... I
urged him against these feelings.

MACE
I'm sure you did. The fact remains that
we are in a very difficult situation.
Anakin will have to be released from the
order.

OBI-WAN
Yes, master.

MACE
You will need to tell him.

OBI-WAN
I understand.

A communications console beeps and Mace presses the controls.
Senator Bail Organa appears in the image.

MACE
Senator Organa... this is a surprise.

ORGANA
Master Windu, Master Yoda... I have grave
news.

MACE
What is it?

ORGANA
Is this communication secure?

Mace fiddles with some controls.

ORGANA (CONT'D)
I have always trusted and revered you
both, you have counselled me through many
trials as a Senator.

YODA
Much respect we have of you as well,
Senator. What troubles you?

ORGANA
I suspect Chancellor Palpatine is
plotting to turn the Republic against the
Jedi Order.

MACE
Why would he do this?

ORGANA
He believes you to be in league with
Dooku and behind the threat to the
Republic.

OBI-WAN
That's nonsense, where would he get this
idea?

ORGANA
He has hired one of the planetary
governors, a power-hungry fellow named
Tarkin. He claims to have uncovered the
mystery behind the clone army.

Mace and Yoda share a glance. Obi-Wan notices this.

ORGANA (CONT'D)
He claims the Kaminoans built the army
under the request of a Jedi Master named
Sifodyas. I have to admit, I'm ignorant
of all the prior members of the council,
do you know this name?

YODA
Know it we do, Senator.

MACE
He was a member of the council many years
ago. He has been dead for quite some
time.

ORGANA
I'm going to have to ask you directly,
and I hope you'll excuse me, under the
circumstances...

MACE
Go ahead senator...

ORGANA
Did you request the army be built without
Senate approval?

MACE
I assure you, we knew nothing of the
creation of this army until Master Kenobi
here stumbled across it three years ago.

YODA
The Dark Side is at work. Closed, our
eyes have been.

ORGANA
Of course, I believe you. I am uncertain
what to do about Palpatine however. He's
dead set on seeing you answer for this.

MACE
Let us meditate on this a while, Senator.
We will contact you again soon. Thanks
for your help.

ORGANA
Of course. I will continue to defend you
here on Coruscant.

Organa's image flickers away. Mace and Yoda look at each
other.

OBI-WAN
Masters, I hate to intrude... but
something tells me you know more about
this Sifodyas than you originally
revealed to me.

Mace looks at Yoda again and Yoda nods.

MACE
(to Obi-Wan)
Obi-Wan... what you are about to hear, is
hard for us to say... There has been a
secret that the Jedi Council has hidden
for more than ten years now. You won't
even find this version of events in the
Jedi archives... Yes... Sifodyas was a
leading member of our council. He was a
strong Jedi, a great leader, and a
wonderful Master.

OBI-WAN
Your master?

MACE
Yes. He couldn't have been prouder when
I was appointed to the council alongside
him. I loved him... as far as I was
concerned, there was never a more
honorable Jedi.

YODA
Such affections, not uncommon for a
padawan.

MACE
But even the most honorable of Jedi, are
not immune to the lure of the dark side.

OBI-WAN
He was a Sith?

MACE
We didn't suspect him to be one then...
just perverted by the Dark Side.

YODA
Right under our noses, he was.
Influencing the decisions of the council.

MACE
We confronted him and expelled him from
the order... but that could not be done
without a fight.

OBI-WAN
And who... who fought him?

Yoda looked at Mace.

MACE
We fought for hours, I thought I could
turn him back... in the end... well... he
had trained me well.

OBI-WAN
You killed him.

MACE
It had to be done.

OBI-WAN
But why the secrecy?

YODA
Should it be known that one of our own
council members had fallen prey to the
dark side, trust in our abilities would
have been lost.

MACE
It is important that the Republic retain
faith in the order. Otherwise, our
enemies would multiply.

OBI-WAN
But masters, you've said... we've all
taught... that lies, deceit... these are
tools of the dark side.

YODA
You have been taught well, Obi-Wan. You
are right to challenge our decision.
Wise we are... but not infallible.
Regrettable it was, but unavoidable.

OBI-WAN
I'm stunned.

MACE
We must now assume that Sifodyas was not
just a dark jedi... but that he may
actually have been an apprentice to the
Sith Lord puppeteering this conflict now.
One prior to the one you bested on Naboo.
When you mentioned his name during your
investigation on Kamino, we recognized
that our mistake was now back to haunt
us.

OBI-WAN
So he placed the order... on behalf of
his Sith Master before you battled him.
After his death, the Zabrak who killed
Qui Gon became his apprentice?

MACE
And now he has taken Count Dooku under
his wing, most likely because of his
relationship with Sifodyas.

OBI-WAN
They knew each other then?

MACE
They were friends. Dooku was devastated
when Sifodyas was killed. His grief
eventually consumed him until he left the
order.

YODA
A natural target, Dooku was, for the Sith
Lord's lies.

OBI-WAN
Anakin was asking about Sifodyas
earlier...

MACE
How could he have known?

OBI-WAN
He said he heard it from a "friend"...
but what friend could he be talking about
on Coruscant?

MACE
He is close to the Chancellor, is he not?

OBI-WAN
But why would the Chancellor entrust such
information to Anakin of all people?

Yoda frowns.

YODA
I fear there is much more to our Supreme
Chancellor than we see on the outside.
His suspicion of us, I did not sense when
I was with him today. Sensed it, I
should have.

OBI-WAN
Dooku had said that the Senate was under
the control of the Sith Lord. Could the
Sith have gotten to the Chancellor?

YODA
Unsure of him, I have been. Clear it is
now, that the dark side is strong around
him... only way it is, that my vision
could be clouded. Careful must our steps
now be.

They all trade grim looks as

Interesting read, though being that Dooku is really just puppetering the Seperatist's at his Master's command, I doubt he would attack Kamino.

I like you take on Sifo-Dyas, though I do not agree with it. I truly believe that Sifo is Darth Sidious, while yet still being Palpatine, somehow or another, however this works out.

I also doubt Boba will be in any combat whatsoever, it takes more than three years to become a good pilot.

Also, Ki-Adi Mundi probably won't have such a big role.

Lucas has clearly stated that after the Clone Wars ends, the story will revolve around Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and then Padme.

After the battle, you kind of go back into the flow of AOTC, investigating who ordered the clones in such.

I doubt there will be much of that, other than a little something involving Obi-Wan, possibly tracking down Boba Fett who is now with Jabba the Hutt.

The mystery will be revealed much like in ROTJ, Palpatine will reveal that he is Sidious/Sifo-Dyas to the complete shock of the Jedi, much like it shocked Luke that he had allowed the Rebellion to find the location of the shield generator and steal the shuttle.

Still an interesting read, despite our difference in opinion. Keep it going, and check mine out.

Bond,

Interesting points, though if you read it, Dooku is NOT attacking Kamino... the Separatists have been left to their own devices now that the Republic/Empire is soon to turn the tide in the war. He has disappeared and left the Separatists desperate. Their usefulness to the plan is over now that Palpatine/Sidious has the Clone army and the support of the Republic to destroy their enemies... so he's disappeared (to actually join at Sidious' side now actually as you'll see) and the Separatists are trying one last ditch effort to slow the might of the Republic... in the end, Dooku WANTS the Republic to win the war... he's deceived them.

Since there seems to be some interest, I'll keep going...

thanks so much for your feedback!

Darth Vegas

In that case, how would the Seperatists know where the Republic's army is coming from?

kopernikuz
02-18-2003, 09:27 AM
I didn't say he wasn't with them before. Besides... how did the Rebels learn about the Death Star's weakness? Spies... How does Dexter Jettster know the Kaminoans are cloners? He's been around. It's apparently not THAT well kept a secret that the best cloners in the galaxy are on Kamino... there are people who know... Dex, apparently Sidious at some point...

For all the specie and worlds out there... it's still a small galaxy after all... if during the course of a several year war, you think that there's no way that Kamino is not a hotspot of Republic transport activity, someone is bound to track this and find out. It's just not a secret by the end of Episode II that clones are being used... of course word would get out.

We will find out soon why Dooku disappeared when he makes a return... that should clear up some of your questions... but Dooku had been steering them clear of Kamino until they had been mostly defeated... now that they are on their last legs, he and Sidious could care less about a futile effort against Kamino... their... sorry Sidious' plot is almost complete...

Thanks for the question!

It is a secret to the Seperatists, except for Dooku who wouldn't disclose the information. The Jedi came upon the army by complete accident trying to locate a bounty hunter (while the system was erased from the archives, obviously it wasn't a very well known system as Obi-Wan had never heard of it before Dex told him), what makes you think the Seperatists would find out about it? More importantly how (the only thing I could imagine is Boba telling them).

The other 2 millions clones that were almost ready for departure we're seen at the end of AOTC, it's highly unlikely that anymore batches were near ready during the course of three years between AOTC and E3. At any rate there wouldn't be heavy transportation between Kamino and the Republic, minimal at most, if none at all, the Republic would be smart enough to be discreet as they were in AOTC, the Seperatists had no idea they were there until they had reached the arena.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to challenge you.

BTW, being that the last two movies have started with a good guy's ship, wouldn't you think it's time to start with an enemy vessel, say Dooku's Solar Sailor?

kopernikuz
02-18-2003, 11:01 AM
No, didn't the OT all begin with bad ships? If the first two PT began with good guy ships, I think it's safe to assume that is the trend for the PT... the PT focuses on the Republic... the OT focuses on the Empire... it stands to reason...

Darth Vegas

Kopernikuz, ANH began with Princess Leia's ship, pursued by a Star Deystroyer.

kopernikuz
02-18-2003, 11:18 AM
Yeah, I guess that's right... All that sticks in your mind is that massive star destroyer... but it still works with my theory... if we've seen all good guys through the PT... we see in the first film of the OT a good guy completely dwarfed by the bad guy... it's a sign of the times, showing us how bad it's gotten... artistically it's a good method of story telling... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

'Ey Kopernikuz, are you going to continue the fanfic, or what? I'm on the edge of my seat here...

kopernikuz
02-22-2003, 10:32 PM
Sorry, it's tough... this is actually one of three I've been working on. The other two have sort of taken up my attention... I've been focused more on those, cause technically... whatever I write here will remain just my opinion... because soon Lucas will blow it away LOL. The other two are my own works in his universe and stand on their own a bit.

I actually got slowed up on this one because I had an internal argument with myself over something that's going to happen next... and how it should happen. I don't want to go into it until I'm satisfied. I'm afraid this will probably be on the backburner a bit until I get further in the other two fanfics. They're what are calling to me for some reason. They're whats in my head right now... it's just how I work. Sorry to tease ya... LOL This just isn't coming to me right now.

I'll try to get some more up soon. I promise style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
