How many of you guys have bought the book? Anyone given into temptation and read it?

I bought it when it was released, but I haven't cracked it open yet.

I bought the book, but won't read it until after I see the movie. That's what I did with TPM. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Bought it. Read it. Bought the TPB. Read it. Bought Boba Fett: The Fight to Survive, which crosses over with AOTC. Read it.

With all the timelining work, I gave up on being spoiler-free.

I am getting the book as soon as I am done with a research paper. I will read it, and then see the movie. Last time, I didn't see the movie until toward the end of the summer. So I got the TPM book, and knew how the movie ended. But I still loved the movie! I will love this one, as well. I already think the soundtrack is great.

I've read the book, but I had already known the basic plot outline before the thing was published. I think I may have to work harder on surprising myself once Episode III starts to come around. *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I haven't read the novelization, but I have read the movie storybook, so I know the general plot and some details...

Yes, I was hanging around the children's rack of SW books... and the sad thing is, I'm nearly 17 and I bought a paper doll book and a coloring book. I couldn't help it!

Whew... I am way too in touch with my inner child...

Well, I got my paper done, and read the book last night. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif I really liked it, and can't wait to see the movie on the big screen!  The thing I love about novelizations of movies is that they add parts that had to be cut from the movie due to time or budgetary restraints. From what I've heard, there are a few things that didn't make it into AOTC that are in the book. I'll be glad to see what made it onto the big screen.

I have not read the book but I did read the Comic Book and it was awsome.

I bought the Comic Books, but I haven't read them yet (waiting until I actually see the movie). I downloaded the "script" but I haven't read that one yet either. I can't wait to see it!

I waited until seeing the movie before buying the novelization. Of course, the fact that I couldn't afford to buy the book until then didn't help. But I wanted to wait until after I'd seen the movie.

Overall, the book was a lot better than the movie. It helped clear up a lot of the reasoning behind certain emotions in the movie. For instance, in the film, the first kiss between Padme and Anakin felt VERY rushed, but in the book, the entire first half was given over to the leadup to that point, and the kiss actually felt right in the book. Padme really got a lot of depth in this novelization, rather than just being glossed over in the film.

I'm afraid I won't like the movie now, after reading the book. Too much was left out of the movie, just like The Phantom Menace.

The book was pretty good. I read it after seeing the movie and I was surprised at how much it had expanded on it. The only thing that bugged me is that Salvatore used the term "like a work of art" for every building that he described.

I bought it and I am in the process of reading the book. I was in fact going to pick up where I left off after I am finished at the boards. *

i bought the novelization the day it came out. *finished reading it three days later. *a record for me! *to me, you have to read the book in order to really get the movie! *there are some things that if you didn't read the book i don't see how you can get it! * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eh.gif

I like how the book expanded on the Count.

count is a funny word when you say it and see it over and over hehe

I just bought the book and am now starting on it. I saw the movie first though, like I do with every movie I've seen. So far, I've read up to the part with Zam and Jango Fett and I'm glad they included the story on Shmi's capture. I was wondering when I first saw Clieg(or something like that),in the movie, how he had lost his leg. Another advantage to the book is that it gives more detail then the movie, like deleted scenes or something. Anyways, I'm still reading, but it's good so far.

TOS announced that this novel will be released on paperback on April 1, 2003. It will have 32 pages of never-before-published storyboard art from the film's climactic battle on Geonosis, and an introduction by producer Rick McCallum. Also, it will contain a preview chapter of Matthew Stover's upcoming Clone Wars novel, Star Wars: Shatterpoint.

Sounds like a definite buy for me ($7.50).

Thanks for the info! I was just about to post a new thread asking if there was any news about the release date then I saw your thread. I can't wait to buy that myself. I prefer paperback to hardback books simply because they are more confortable to read. With extra material...that seals the deal for me.

I prefer hardbacks, but since I have not bought AOTC yet, I guess I'll wait for the paperback for those extras.

Why does Salvatore describe lots of buildings as a work of art?

If there's a large space, and different characters are in diffrent parts of it, why is everyone across the way from each other?

He's probably trying to describe the environment so that the reader can vividly imagine how it would look. Buildings in a manner of saying, are works of art by the architects that design them. I don't think he was off-base by describing them that way.

The story is about a core group of characters. Naturally, they would be in close proximity of each other. Is this what you mean?

I guess I understood what he meant because I picked up on it, too. Also, I've been rereading the X-wing books, and I've noticed that every time Michael Stackpole describes Kirtan Loor, he uses the exact same wording. It's like he copied what he'd written the first time for use in all later cases. Kind of annoying, really.

Why do some authors use the same phrases all the time? Habbit, I guess. Either that, or lack of imagination. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif

he did tend to use the same wording to discribe the same things a lot...I agree, it's hella annoying.

Bumping, since the novel is going to be released tomorrow! I am more excited about the storyboard art than the book (since I already read it...)

I might scan the art and post it on my website for those that don't get the book.

The "extras" are exclusive to the paperback. I wasn't aware of any "extras" in the AOTC 2nd ed. hc. I knew about the new cover and reduced price. That was about it as far as I thought. ???
