Come On, Cheer Me Up...please?

I've had a really crappy week. I've had loads of extra work to do because of colleagues who just decided to skive off and have a few days off, and I'm knackered. My father was taken into intensive care with massive head injuries and spinal trauma on Monday night after being found lying in the road. (which is why I haven't been on all week). I'm feeling run down and just generally p****d off. So please, cheer me up. Tell me nice things like any good news you've had or maybe a joke you've heard...anything!

Flo, sorry to hear about your dad, but you want to hear nice things so I'll tell you something nice: I was in Florida from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9 visiting Tovor, and it was the best time of my life. We were together for 4 very meaningful and beautiful days (I'm gonna start crying).

I guess you just have to live one day at a time, ya know.

I never expected such warm sentiments. This has really been one of the worst weeks of my life, having to take on the responsibility for my dad's hospital care even though I haven't spoken to him in five years and we don't get on. I figured someone had to do something for him though. (he doesn't have anyone else to do it, as he split from my mother 10 years ago, and alienated himself from the rest of his family cos he's a violent alcoholic) I really feel a lot better for all the nice things you guys have said. Thanks very much for caring enough to answer my wee plea. You are all truly the greatest. Just to let you know, this week hasn't been as crappy. My dad regained conciousness. the good news is he's walking about fine. Bad news is that he's brained damaged and can't separate fantasy from reality and also just says random things. He seems fairly happy in an odd sort of way though and is happily chatting away (even though it's nonsense) and making friends with other patients. Sadly it seems it took brain damage to make him into a nice person. So I've not been around the board cos I'm trying to sort out where he's going care-wise. All in all though I'm feeling better and looking forward to Christmas, so Merry Christmas to all of you incase I don't speak to you before then!

Oh and Obidobi? i don't have a clue what the translation is supposed to be, I've put it through several translation programs and all I've got was:

the norwegian I received as translation for 'the fast window went on a reason outside of black country' was 'det rask vindu gikk opp pa en grunn ytterside av sortland', or 'fakta aktivt vindu gikk opp pa en grunn ytterside av slag land'.

Thanks to everyone for caring enough to have reposted in this thread even if you did mistake the date. It means a lot to me. My life has never been an easy one, the first sixteen years being subject to a lot of violence and mental abuse and the past six years or so were particularly hard on me depression wise, but I feel I've turned a corner over the past year and there turned out to be somethings that were worth smiling for. You guys have cheered me up in times when I thought I couldn't go on, bolstered me up when I've thought that I was so ugly I didn't deserve friends and helped me through difficult events like those in this thread last year. I want to thank you all and my boyfriend if he reads this for all your support and friendship and I hope those (unlucky few! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif ) who meet me next year think it was worth the trouble to make me smile.
