By day, I'm a video production technician which is a fancy way of saying cameraman. By night, I'm a projectionist at an art house movie theatre in downtown Washington, D.C. I've recently applied to XM Satelite Radio as an on-air Traffic & Weather reporter. Wish me luck.

Now I'm trying to leave the news business but still find a way to continue to shoot and edit, hopefully in some sort of entertainment capacity.

I do work on computers. Re-installing systems, adding new hardware, taking care of viruses that someone may have. Fun thing is I get to check out some sweet systems and gaming crap these people do and add my own little tweaks.

And then I usually get online while I'm working. It's fun. You have to find out if it works. hehe.

I also work in the film industry (normally travelling away from home style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif ). I normally work as an assistant director. Though I have started my own company to make my own films.

I'm trying to get out of it as well. Not becasue of the pay, hell I just got a raise that appears to be more than I expected, but becasue I absolutely despise what I do. I work for the NBC news affiliate in Philadelphia and cannot stand shooting news anymore. I love shooting and editing, but would prefer to get a gig where news isn't involved, nor live shots, nor hours upon hours of driving a day. The media is so exploitative it makes me sick. I need to get a film job, or something with a tv studio or something. Just not news or sports, because that's live as well and full of crazy deadlines and the like. Ugh.

Yes. I've done news before. I could not stand it either. Way too much rushing around and pressure, and I just ran tape. The anchor would be saying hello and introing the top story, while at the same time the reporter would be placing the tape in my hand. Also we frequently would be going to break from the third block into the fourth, and I still wouldn't have any tapes for sports, which was what the entire fourth block was comprised of. They wanted me to run camera as well, but they couldn't have payed me enough to deal with the belligerent reporters.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>I hate working my butt off at The Office, and only getting two weeks vacation a year.
So I sat down and figured out how much I work every year.

For over seven years now I have worked 4 hours a day in the summer for 19 days.
I work 6 hours a day for 173 days the rest of the year.
Also 2 additional hours a day for 102 of those days.
I get 69 days off a year, PLUS weekends.
15 of those days are paid.
That doesn't count sick days and personal days, which are paid.
