If you have ever seen Pulp Fiction, which most haven't sadly. Your missing out on a comic jem, and a great film. I am here to argue that Pulp Fiction is the second greatest movie ever (Raiders of the Lost Ark being first but thats another topic) and to convice people to witness this masterpiece. Although it does contain an "R" rating on the movie, just to tell younger people.
If you have seen this movie post your opinions on it.

Any Thoughts?

Pulp Fiction truly is a great movie, though It is not my favorite it is definitly on my list. Many people dont like this movie I dont know why, its got Mace in it haha(with some wicked sideburnshaha). But all jokes aside if you havent seen it go and rent it see what you think, if you just dont like it watch it again maybe you missed something or didnt give it your full attention, and if you still dont like it cool. But I give this film a negative 4 , ohh you dont understand my grade system it goes from 5 to negative 5, negative 5 being the best of course.

Pulp Fiction earns a negative 5!!!!

That's one thing people might not get. The timeline in the movie is split up. It is the most action-packed comedy you will ever see, though. S.L.J does have some wicked sideburns, but he has the best wallet in the movie.

It does rate highly on my movie scale but so do most Tarentino film's, one of the best pure comedy films would have to be 4 room's which is a must see. Natural Bourn Killers is a great film too and was written by Tarentino. But I do think there better movies out there, Sorry guy's but it's true. of course there is no way I could pick just one favourite movie, I'd need at least ten.

Every movie Tarentino, makes is a classic. Although the only one I have seen is Pulp Fiction, I have read the scripts for Reservoir Dogs and Natural Born Killers. I did not know until you told me that Tarentino wrote Natural Born Killers, I just assumed Oliver Stone did. I am dying to see Reservoir Dogs, since I am buying the dvd this weekend. Tarentino also directed Jackie Brown, but he didn't write that one. Neverthless Pulp Fiction is still a great movie.

I didn't like Pulp Fiction much the first time I saw it. However, it's one of those movies that seems to get better every time I watch it. I definitely like it now but I wouldn't consider it one of my all time favorites.

That's the same thing that happened to me with the first time I saw Reservoir Dogs(yesterday). Upon first viewing I thought it didn't live up to it's hype, but when I watched it a second time. I enjoyed the movie much more, although I still like Pulp Fiction better. Has anyone seen Reservoir Dogs? It's Tarentino's first film, came out in 1992.

Pulp Fiction is definitely not the greatest movie ever. I didn't even like it. The only part I liked was the Bruce Willis part. He was really the only character with any redeeming qualities in the whole movie.

<span style="color:seagreen">All the characters in Pulp Fiction were excellent, the actors were excellent, the plot was excellent, the script was excellent and the direction was excellent. It was excellent. Bruce WIllis was my favourite character though, and the part where Christopher Walken was explaining how he saved the watch is a classic. And Samuel L. Jackson's line from the bible was awesome. Its probably one of the underated movies in the last decade.</span>

I thought the movie was as gratuitously violent as possible. And while the editing was interesting (although it put off a lot of people) I think a movie, in general, shouldn't be confusing to people.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, Pulp Fiction is one of my personal favourites. Tarentino is a very clever guy. Saranac, I just saw Reservoir Dogs last night in fact; I never grow tired of seeing that one. Tarentino has a special ability to keep you captivated until the very end. He actually makes you care about the characters and what's going on in the story. Not to mention, he knows how to use humor in the strangest ways.

Yessss Pulp Fiction is a great film.

Tarentino is brilliant, nobody before him had the idea of cutting a movie into pieces. Showing the ending first then the beginning. Also in Reservoir Dogs he builds up about 6 characters in depth. Some movies don't even build up 2 characters in a movie. He shows perfectly detailed characters with completely different personalities, in Reservoir Dogs. Not to mention he can write great screenplays. Tarentino talks about the oddest things in movies that turn out hilarious. I don't think any director could make fast food sound so funny.

Your right Pulp Fiction should not confuse anyone. The first time I watched the movie I understood it perfectly. For those who didn't get it here is a timeline of the events in chronological order http://godamongdirectors.com/tarantino/faq...q/sequence.html (http://godamongdirectors.com/tarantino/faq/sequence.html)
It is violent but it carries an R rating so that's what you have to be prepared for if your watching. The violence factors in movies has never affected me. Although the Bruce Willis part is excellent, I still prefer the Hitmen duo. SLJ and JT have perfect chemistry throughout the entire movie. It seems as if their conversations actually took place, as their emotions change so real.

I actually prefer True Romance {written by QT, directed by Tony Scott, starring Christian Slater amongst others}.

The Tarintino flicks are cool though. Does anyone know that Vincent Vega {John Travolta} from Pulp Fiction and Mr Blonde aka Victor Vega {Michael Madsen} from Reservoir Dogs are in fact ment to be brothers?! Cool bit of cross over I think.

I thought Pulp Fictin was a good Movie, maybe the best of Tarention's movie's. But its not in my top 10, maybe top 20 list.

I have never seen True Romance, I did read a couple reviews online about it though. It stated that it could have been a great movie if Tarentino directed it, the whole feel of the movie wasn't that good. Actually the Vega thing was never actually stated by Tarentino that they were brothers. Although any Pulp Fiction website will say a relation. Obviously he meant to have some sort of relation between them.

Wow. It seems as though you guys just recently discovered this flick. What gives? It's been out since '94! I've never considered it underrated, in fact, it did receive about 7 Oscar nominations.

I haven't recently discovered it, just thought to make a thread of it. It only won 1 oscar though, "Best Screenplay."

Should have won supporting Actor for Samuel L. Jackson! The biggest robbing of an Oscar in ten years! Tarantino wrote the story for Natural Born Killers, not the Screenplay

Saranac
12-25-2002, 07:12 PM
Wrong....Tarentino also wrote a screenplay, but Oliver Stone edited his and made a new ending.

Who won "best supporting actor that year?" SLJ was up for it.

Martin Landau for "Ed Wood". And the biggest robbery was the fact that Samual L. Jackson wasn't nominated for "Best Actor" instead of "Supporting"! Hell Travolta recieved that nomination for the same film and he had less lines than Jackson! Never mind the fact that Jackson stole that film anyway! GRRRRR!!!!!!

Mann

Well, John Travolta had more Screentime than Jackson. They had the beginning sequence and the end segment. Travolta was actually really good in that movie, but you are right, Jackson stole the show. I would have liked to see Jackson win in either catagory, his performance was the best of the year. But, my choice for best actor that year was Paul Newman in Nobody's Fool. Travolta was second.

Oh, and I'm right. Tarantino wrote the original STORY. David Veloz is credited with writing the screenplay.

Well this was Travolta's big movie comeback and he did have more screentime. Jackson was good though.

The New York Post had the followng:
Tarentino is making a new movie called "Kill Bill"
Starring Uma Thurman, Michael Madsen(from Reservoir Dogs)
About a female assassin who is attacked and put in a coma on her wedding day. When she comes out of the coma years later she wants revenge.

^
something like that
Just thought I would share the info

Kill Bill was postponed because of Uma's pregnancy. The other people in the film are Warren Beatty, Lucy Alexis Liu, Daryl Hannah and Sonny Chiba. I think that Michael Madsen had to drop out of the film because he shot Die Another Day.

It said Michael Madsen was still in it...

well I'll check my sources again. I'd like Michael Madsen in it, but he wasn't on the cast list.

okay, I checked. This other list I saw had no Warren Beatty but had a bigger cast.

Uma Thurman (The Bride, AKA Black Mamba)
David Carradine (Bill)
Jacqueline Bisset (in talks)
Sonny Chiba (Hattori Hanzo)
Vivica A. Fox (Vernita Green, AKA Cobra)
Daryl Hannah (Elle Driver, AKA California Mountain Snake)
Lucy Liu (O-Ren Ishi, AKA Cottonmouth)
Michael Madsen (Bud, AKA Sidewinder)
LaTanya Richardson (L.F. O'Boyle)
Bo Svenson (The Preacher)
Quentin Tarantino (Pei Mei)
Michael Jai White (Alburt)
Rumor: Samuel L. Jackson

note: how do you think Daryl Hannah go the part?

The last film I recall him directing was "Jackie Brown". I think that was in '97. By the way, that was based on an Elmore Leonard novel called "Rum Punch" which was probably better than the film. Not a lot, but a little.

Good Job Thrawn

I would think Michael Madsen would do anythiing for another part in a Tarentino movie. He has a statue in his house depicting himself in Reservoir Dogs.

Jackie Brown was an alright movie, but why did Tarentino direct that when he could have directed Natural Born Killers or True Romance?

Tarentino isn't that great of an actor, but he does write great parts for himself.
