View Full Version : Bringing The Force Into Balance

According to C-3PO at the beginning of the Attack of the Clones VHS, Anakin "truly did bring balance to the Force, and helped make the universe a safer place".
Anakin brought balance to the Force by returning from the Dark Side and destroying Emperor Palpatine, the ultimate agent of evil. With this, both Sith Lords were destroyed, thus eradicating this evil force from the galaxy.
But Luke played a part in this, too. (The whole OT is about him!!) He was the catalyst that got his evil father thinking, "hey, maybe there is still good in me." (Or something to that effect.)
My question for you is, would Anakin truly have brought balance to the Force if Luke had not completed his training?
Thoughts welcome, please.

Well i think the answer would be no, if it wasn't for Luke Vader would have never come back from the darkside, that is why Obi-Wan and Yoda (mostly obi-wan) wanted him to complete his training, although they must have just wanted him to KILL Vader and the Emperor, he instead brought Vader back from the darkside but the outcome was the same both Sith Lords died.

I know that I'm probably the only one on this website who has not yet seen the AOTC VHS or DVD yet, but when did C-3PO say this about Anakin? Is there something that was not in the original film release or the IMAX release? Please refresh my memory, if I had missed it then. Thanks!

It's a special feature at the beginning of the VHS where Artoo and Threepio tell us the entire history of Star Wars. I don't know if it's on the DVD, but it's worth checking out.

As far as I know it is not on the DVD, what a bummer! I want to see that now. Interesting.

I agree with Frendon probly Obi-Wan & Yoda just thought that Luke was going to kill Vader and his boss but Yoda and Obi should have known better that Vader would turn because he was the chosen one, i guess the Dark side was still clouding them like always. I think that Obi thought he was the only one that could somehow bring Vader back when they were in that Duel and just had Luke as a back-up to kill Vader or some hope. But Luke was who got to Vader that gave him the power to overcome the dark. I especially like the scene were Vader sees Lukes mechanical arm and he sees that Luke would be turned like Vader a machine i almost can see though Vaders mask like a worried look.

When did Vader see Luke's busted up arm? The only place I think he would have seen it was on the base at Endor. But I don't remember him seeing it.

I'm guessing that Bandet means the scene at the end of ROTJ when Luke cuts off Vaders hand, sees that it is mechanical, and then looks at his own gloved, mechanical hand. But then, I was only being sarcastic in my response to Bandet, so who knows?

It's a feature called Star Wars: Connections and is only on the VHS. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif It was originally produced for when they showed ANH, ESB, ROTJ, and TPM on TV in the weeks leading up to the release of AOTC last April and May.

Thanks, Luvinna! Now I don't have to feel like I'm missing something, since I saw that "Connections" stuff on FOX last spring. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Well, I saw it too, but I'd still like to have it. What, there wasn't enough room on the DVDs for 20 more minutes? And I don't want to spend the money for the VHS when I already have the DVDs.
Sorry. I'll stop venting now. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif
