With the advancement in technology, many things deemed impossible in the past have been made...well, possible. Does anyone think that there will be a remake of the OT, with modern cast and modern visual effects?

nope...no point. it would be like remaking Psycho with a modern cast...oh wait a minute, they already did that!

would digital effects bring anything else to the story? how about remaking The Wizard if Oz with digital effects...will that make it a better movie? Looks aren't everything...Lucas would never be able to recapture the heart and soul of the original Star Wars.

i think even GL knows that totally remaking the OT would be disasterous. i'm sure he'll go back and fiddle more, but he won't remake them.

besides...Harrison Ford IS Han Solo. Mark Hammil IS Luke Skywalker. Carrie Fisher IS Princess Leia. The list could go on. They nailed those roles...why try to do it over?

Please George Lucas don't ever let this happen!!!

he's also said that there are a number of scenes in the OT that he is still not happy with. can't remember where i read it or when, but i know i saw it. so there will be more addition to the OT, to be sure.

Ya... it sure be out in the OT dvds (which is gonna take ages to come... at least after episode 3 style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unhappy.gif )...Wonder where he's gonna dig out all the behind the scenes footage... he did nt enlist a documentary crew back then rite?

well, there was a making of star wars that aired along with the movie the first time it was on tv...on CBS in the early 80's. there was also "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga" which was a pretty awesome making of that was out in the mid 80's. So there's plenty of documentary footage out there.

No, that isn't true, that rumor has been denied by Lucasfilm. Indeed, when the question came up, Rick Mccalum (sp?) answered this question on the Jedi Counci in the most emphatic terms, he didn't simply deny it, he questioned the sanity of the person who suggested it. You can't get a much stronger denial than that. And for all those conspiratorial "George is lying to us because he wants confuse us" people out there, let me say this. The Lucasfilm modus operandi for dealing with rumors has been clear for a long time: when the rumor is false, they say that it is false. When the rumor is true, they say 'no comment' or something to that effect. But they have never deliberately lied to the fans about anything.
Now, about the idea of remaking Episodes IV-IV, is should not and will not ever happen. I also seriously doubt that there will be any significant changes to the OT when it is released on DVD. Maybe they will erase some more matte lines and add other minor tweaks to the FX, but nothing more than that. All the major changes that George wanted to make to the OT to make it fit with the PT were already made with the Special Edition, there won't be any more. The only major change that I can think of that might be done to the OT is restoring Obi Wan's full conversation with Luke from ROTJ. Originally, Obi had a lot more to say, he talked about his fight with Anakin, and how Anakin fell into the lava pit and other things, but these lines were cut because they felt that it gave away too much of the backstory for Episodes I-III. But now that the prequels are done, there is no reason why this scene cannot restored, if it was even filmed. Other than that, don't expect any major changes on the DVD.

i've looked at the ROTJ script, and though Luke and Ben's coversation is a bit more drawn out, there's nothing about Anakin falling into the lave pit. he really just goes into more detail about the luke and leia being seperated at birth and leia's upbringing and luke leaving to help his friends on Bespin. no more detail regarding anakin and obi-wan's battle, unfortuneately.

there's two things i'd like to see GL do to the OT for DVD release:

1. make the duel between Vader & Kenobi a bit more exciting...employing maybe a stunman and some digital face replacement for Alec Guiness(ala Dooku/Christopher Lee). make his fighting style a little more consistent with Ewans from the PT...make the fight more kinetic and impressive! maybe a stand-in with some fencing ability for David Prowse, too.

2. i'd like to see the Rancor scene get some tweaks. nothing major, just in one or two of the wide shots. replace the puppet with a digital rancor. not all of the shots...just the wide shots.

Ya gotta be careful here, most copies of 'the script' of any SW movie is basically just a transcription of what was filmed. GL has 'a shooting script' but he doesn't follow it very closely (most directors don't), so the 'screenplay' that is published is based on the movie, and not the reverse. Obi Wan originally told Luke that "Anakin and I struggled, and he fall into a molten pit, when he came out he was Darth Vader, irredeemibly scarred and blackened. He is more machine now than man, twisted and evil" He also tells Luke "don't think of that machine as your father" I don't know if this was ever filmed, but it is in the novelization.

I think they should touch it up and maybe add things that werent put in because it would ruin the PT, And I too have seen the script mtilden has seen. But I dont think GL would ever even consider throwing out the old and doing it all over again, people would hate him and the new films.

Personally...i tink lucas shld redo the jabba in episode 4 SE. It looks...out of proportion as compared to jabba in episode 1.

when Beru says that Luke's got too much of his father in him and Owen responds with, "That's what I'm afraid of," well, why would he react like that otherwise?
i agree that Jabba in E4 looks wrong, but I think the whole scene should just be removed.

first off, it's basically the same coversation that Han had with Greedo. and second, based on the personality that Jabba displayed in E6 I think he would have killed Han if he stepped on his tail! and third, i absolutely hated Boba's little glare at the camera at the end of the scene. please, GL just remove the whole scene!

i also hope that he puts the Greedo scene back to the way it should be: greedo doesn't shoot first and han just blows him away!

boba shld be there... i tink tiz character shld be introduced due to his popularity, esp. wif the elaboration of fett storyline in episode 2. Perhaps juz walk by though... not glaring. Wat's he glaring at anywae?

(Hint: i'm a fett family lover... so don't want him out... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif )

There is something that you are forgetting about this... at the time that this happened, Han was still in Jabba's favor. Jabba liked Han, and gave him special treatment because he was such a good smuggler. But by the time of ROTJ he was fed up with him. There is no inconsistency here. I also agree that Jabba should be touched up for the release on DVD. Not because he is too small (so he experienced a growth spurt between Episodes IV and VI big deal, maybe he got fat because he was overeating) but because he looks fake. He looked fine in 1997, but we know now that they can do much better than that.

a remake of star wars in inevitable, but i doubt george will personally remake it. it'll probably be fifty years down the line. i just hope it isn't an all black musical version that airs on bet or vh1.

If Jabba had a "growth spurt" between Episodes IV and VI, did he have a "shrink spurt" between Episodes I and IV?

Jabba appears to be about the same size in I and IV, maybe a little smaller in I. Indicedently, the other Hutts look smaller. This is a 'where did the Klingons get those bumpy foreheads' type question, it is not really alll that important, except to nitpickers who need to find something better to do with their time.
