Just a quick story about how I came to dis-believe in Santa Clause. In 1979, I was very excited for Christmas. I had sent my letter to Santa, and was especially good that year. At the top of my list was the plush stuffed Chewbacca doll, you know, the furry one that looked more like Chewie than the hard plastic action figure.

My two brothers and I tore through our respective piles of loot like there was no tomorrow. Each finding things we asked for on our lists. Soon enough, there were no more presents to open. I looked aroung in case I missed on, but no Chewie. Then my dad pointed to the back of the tree. I saw a little brown fur........so I reached behind the tree, and pulled it out!!!! There it was.....CHEWIE......AWSOME!!!! I got everything on my list. I could not have been happier!!!

So, after the X-mas gift opening, we all sat for breakfast. We sat and talked about our new treasure, and dug into our pancakes. Topic of conversation turned to to look on my face when I thought that Santa hadn't come through for me. Then it came.

My dad said, with a chuckle, " I new it was there the whole time" I said, "How?" His answer was "When I saw Santas sleight flying across the sky, Chewbaccas tail was hanging out the back with your name on the tag" I started to laugh and then it hit me. CHEWBACCA HAS NO TAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if Chewbacca has no tail, then how did dad know that the doll was there? How else could this be? He didn't see Santa, or his sleigh......................

I realized that there was no Santa........

That is a heart warming story in the sense you got what you wanted-Chewy but hard since you had to learn the truth so young.

Whats ironic about this great story is that Chewbacca isn't real either, sorry for breaking that to you at an older age.

Man, I can't even remember when I knew that Santa wasn't real. I was giving X-mas lists to folks for as long as I can remember. Not anymore, of course. :whatsthat:

I found out Santa wasn't real for two reasons:
1) I accidentally found the presents and they were marked from Santa on Xmas!
2) I recognized my parental units handwriting on the box!

I never really believed in the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, or anything else....I just believed in Santa until I discovered that it was my parents all along!

But honestly at least the parents try....now that I'm 16 I get presents from Santa as a joke from my parents. They stopped with the major Santa stuff when I was about 12 or 13!

But that sounds like a crummy way to find out that Santa isn't real!

Yay, I found the old presents marked from Santa once. That was my Santa downfall. Though my parents still give me a couple from Santa nowadays, but then again they also give me presents from our cat. http://216.40.249.192/mysmilies/contrib/ruinkai/wscared.gif

When I was about 9 I was searching for my gifts. I found a Castle Greyskull box in my parent's closet. On Christmas morning, the Castle Greyskull was waiting for me with "From Santa" on it. I did the math and there ya go.

Hehe, when I found out it was actually when I had just lost a tooth. I woke up just as mom was slipping money under my pillow, I never let on that I was awake, but I took a peak when her back was turned. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

My family was at a Christmas party once, and my 6-year old sister went up to a group of little kids and said "Hey you little brats, there's no Santa Claus!!"

I was nine at the time. I guess ... I know the truth, but it's still a lot of fun to pretend.
