As a member living in central Indiana, I was wondering what else those that are able to attend might be interested in doing?
I'm just offering my suggestions on other things to do. Just ask and I'll try to give a good suggestion. I'll try to gear everything towards the downtown area so you don't have to travel far from the convention center.

I won't be doing anything outside the Convention Center, I plan to be there open to close. Other than going out with Senators one or two nights.

When not at the Center, which won't be that long I'm thinking, I'll probably be hanging out the hotel. My grandma's driving 8 hours out of her way and paying for the majority of the whole trip, and isn't big on Star Wars in the first place, so I'm not gonna complain when she just wants to chill out at the room. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Hmm. I am puzzled, somewhat. I have been to this place. It was great. It's a Dave & Busters sorta place, arcade, bar, restaurant, bowling alley, etc. For parties. Could easily hold a few people from the G.S., and it's not far from the convention center (well, I walked from the RCA Dome, at least. What puzzles me is that the location does not show up on their main site. Anywho, I think that something like that would be a great place to hang out, and would help set it up, even if I don't go. Any thoughts?

If anyone has cell phones we should keep them on at the convention to keep in touch from different parts if we don't all stay together. I included me in "we" in case I go, you know. So if I do go, I have to get a new cell phone because the one I have is Metro PCS which I pay monthly a flat rate and have free long distance actross the country, but the phone itself has to stay within Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties to work. So if I make it to C3 I'll need to get a new phone, to have when in town up there, and to keep in touch with other buds there.

No one said you have to have lap dances. I honestly don't know what clubs might be downtown now. The only one I remember is the Red Garter Lounge. But it moved somewhere else and I don't know if it's still open. Most of the better ones are on the outskirts of the city limits.

I'd say that's a little pricey for a single room, but it is the La Quinta, and they've got a good reputation. Also, you're probably getting to the point where hotel rooms near Indy are in high demand, so we might start to see some price gouging. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

Not likely unless you plan on being at the con center by 7 a.m. at the latest.
Your best bet to get to the con center is to take I-70 eastbound to West Street. Head north on West Street until you see the RCA Dome and park in the lot just to the south of that. The cross street is South Street. You'll walk past Victory Field, a minor league baseball stadium on the other side of West Stree.
You can then walk from the parking lot, along West Street, to the entrance on the north side of the convention center. Last time, the line wound around the block in that direction.
I suggest that you dress for the weather. It can be quite cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. Morning lows can be in the 30's F with some highs getting into the 70's F. And it's been known to rain in Indianapolis in April.

Agree with you Blizz. If I fly all the way to Indiana for a SW convention the last thing I would do is something non SW, aside from hanging out with GS buds.
Check it peeps: Yesterday I get a spam call on my cell phone for a travel club called Agents Travel Network. Normally I would have ended the call right off the bat but she talked about air fare vouchers and free hotel rooms for 3 days, 2 nights. So I said, I may be going to Indiana in April, can this be used? And she said yes, yada yada yada, but she couldn't answer my intense questions so her suporvisor got on and tried to talk to me. He said join the club for 40 dollars and 19.99 a month, and get up to 400 in airfare vouchers, and the 3/2 in lodging. But I had to give them my bank account number. I said there was no way I was going to give my bank account number to someone over the phone with no guarantees to who that person and company was. he went on and on about how those numbers could not be used without my authorization to steal money from my account, ect, that there was no way for anybody to do so, ect. I said, whatever, there is no way, no how, I will ever give out my account number over the phone. Mail me this information and tell me your website addy and I'll check into the legality and integrity of your company. So he gives me the addy and I checked it out last night. Today, as I gave them permission to do, I got a call back from another agent to sign me up. I told him that their website was the shoddiest, sloppiest, most poorly laid out and scripted website I had ever seen, and that the site alone was enough for me to distrust that company. He apologized for the site and said he'd mention it to his manager, and told me that they cannot mail me any company/program literature unless they can check out my bank account first to make sure I have the funds to pay them, and not screw them over. I said, What are you, f***ing kidding me? I don't know who the bigger idiot is, the idiot you assumed I'd be, or the one I perceive in you?
Plus, as I theorized last night, and it was confirmed by him, the 400 in airline vouchers does not mean that it's up to 400 for round trip tickets, but instead a set amount alloted for each trip over a year's time. But I'm only going to use them once, I haven't been on an airplane in 33 years and I don't have any plans to again aside from the possibility of flying to Indiana in April. I said, forget it. Plus, you don't get the vouchers in advance, you have to lay out the money and then submit claims to get reimbursed.....after you've already paid the membership fee and the 20 a month. Hey, can I get a bridge for that price too? I've always wanted to buy one. If the deal was legit, it's not worth it for me, and based on your website, and your insistance that I tell you my bank account number, I don't trust the scheme. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya.
For laugh, here is the site address. Click the links to get the info about the program, which no surprise there isn't much info at all, and most of the text is so poorly laid out that it is set outside the box area which it was obviously intended to go into, and in many places larger sections of text overlap other sections, making it difficult to impossible to read. Scam, scam, scam, scam. www.agentstravel.net (http://www.agentstravel.net)
In all my years on the net, I've seen that the www. of a web address is a waste of typing, because I have never, ever had to type in www. before any web addy and I always got connected with no problem. With that one, you must put in the www. Wierd.

Me either, Flo. The only extra thing we went to last time was the concert and they sold the tickets for it there.
The Celebration party Saturdays night says you have to wear a contume, which I am not. There weren't a whole lot of costumes at C2, not compared to the amount of people that were there.
I just can't miss opening ceremonies, it is worth the entire trip!

The Celebration party Saturdays night says you have to wear a costume
From the official announcement
The mighty Jabba the Hutt commands you to join him at Celebration at Celebration III, for a street carnival and masquerade in the good company of Star Wars fans. Enjoy live music, entertainment, games, prizes, exclusive souvenirs, plus the opportunity to purchase edgy commemorative "Celebration at Celebration III" ringer t-shirts and iron-ons exclusive to the event. Costumes are recommended, but not required. Do keep in mind, however, that it is Jabba who recommends you wear a costume.
I'm not going in costume myself because I don't have the space in my luggage. I'm flying to Indy and I dont want to bring an extra baggage for a costume and accessories.

I'm getting paid 45 hours worth of work the week of CIII for having fun! Yay for everyone getting paid!
So far I've spent $110 on my badge (I really though I had to the end of the month to do the mail in, stupid me). I'll be paying about $150 for the hotel. Driving there will be about a tank of gas so with gass prices right now about $30 or $35. So I have a lot of extra money to buy things while I am there.
Something cool is if my friend doesn't drop out on me. We will be taking his car. He has a 7" in dash (flip-out actually) LCD screen with DVD player. He also has the audio hooked up in Dolby Digital. So I get to watch movies on the way there.
