I've seen pictures of Mara Jade with both short red hair, and long brown hair. Does it have something to do with the stories? (Like, she had brown hair but cut it and dyed it red?) Also, I've heard that she has force powers and everything. Was she like a Sith? Or kinda like a neutral?

A character's hair is something distiguishable. When police cops ask for a description of someone they usually ask the hair color. In movies, the audience recognizes a character by his hair color faster than anything else. It is, obviously, the easiest thing to remember. Think about it. How often does a main character change his hair in a movie? (Given the exception of spy movies or something like that.) They don't just change hair color for the heck of it. It would confuse the audience.

Timothy Zahn always described her hair as being red-gold in color. Other authors messed up and called it auburn, which is more red-brown.

As for it being long and short, well, if her hair is anything like mine, I cut about 6 to 10 inches off my hair about every year. So I can have it long and short in the same year, depending on my mood.

Alright James, here's the deal... I haven't read every frickin Star Wars book out there, okay? I'm trying to read the books in semi-chronological order so I don't get confused. (It's obviously not working, huh?) Anyway, This question about Mara Jade's "do" was just something that I thought of. I was asking if it was part of a story or if G.Lu screwed up... again. I haven't gotten to the books about her yet so ease up, okay? I was just wondering what the deal was so I could sleep a little better at night.

Geez. Yes... I know that characters do change their hairstyle. I never said they didn't. If you read my above post, I said that it was unusual for characters to change their hair color for no apparent reason.
