How many of you bought the platinum edition of the LOTR DVD? I was really impressed with the presentation of the case, I hope when the ultimate edition comes out in 05 or 06 that Lucasfilm puts that amount of love into their box set! Many of you want to have the original version of the OT incorporated into the disk, there is no reason why GL couldn't and shouldn't. I hope he does.
I figure the box set will retail for around $120-$150, I'll buy it (as long as I'm employed), will you? Also name any special features on the disks you'd like as well as any additional material the box set should include.
I'd like individual disks within a case, not a six disk fold out like LOTR platinum ed.

Careful, Bond might complain that theres a thread similar to this somewhere on this message board. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif But yeah I hope they do a really cool box set with the original releases as well as an Ultimate edition.

I would buy the edition that has both sets of movies on DVD. I still have an unwatched version of the SE on video just in case and my copies of the ORIGINAL original trilogy.

I would love to have them both(OT & SE) on DVD, and would buy a more expensive set to do it. I didn't buy the little box set thing of LOTR, but got the extended version. I didn't see any reason to pay more for some bookends i would never use. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

The reason for buying the book ends? They look really nice, especially when you add the other two films in between.

Jedi-d'oh, years ago, and recently GL stated that the original versions of the classic trilogy, are never going to be released again, he considers them obsolete.

Personnally, I think GLshould understand that there are plenty of fans who want the original versions on DVD, and he should respect that, and put the original versions with whatever other version, in a set together, much like they did with E.T.

I know he said that, but as you put it, the fans want it and enough pressure from them may make it happen. The point was that I would buy it.

Again, I wouldn't use the bookends, so why pay an extra $30 just to get a box and some bookends? I keep all my movies on a shelf grouped together. Nothing is seperated just because.

In the DVDs of the OT I want to see the Ewok ending to return of the Jedi, you can throw all of the celebrating stuff in there, but I just want those little fur balls singing!

I hope the UE is very spectacular with even more add ins and more of a clen up job, but i to want the original included and i want alot of the cut scenes included. I wish Lucas had never come up with those Pathetic Ewoks they only in my opinion were a screw up it makes it unrealistic that these things could have defeated the Emperors finest.

But thats just me.

I'm not saying they were the best plot device, but they sing a damn fine song.

Just how many Ultimate Edition threads are there?

Darth Vegas

About five. One of which (he original by Master Gandalf) should be reopened mods (hint, hint), Martini is gone, there is no one here to turn the thread back into that hell hole.

Do you guys think that the UE will allow people to 'insert' the 'improved' scenes? What's to prevent GL from making a single DVD that can be both the SE and 'traditional' version?

Of course, it might make more business sense to just release the UE, and let fans sweat for the 'old' version. By that time of course, it won't be the 'old' version - we'll be calling it 'Classic Star Wars'.

This whole version thing is starting to remind me of the 'Cola Wars' - remember clear Pepsi? Pretty soon the only sci-fi movies on sale will be SW-related. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

All he has to do is put the "classic" version of the OT on one side of the disk and the "ultimate" version on the other, like a few disks out there that offer letterbox/pan and scan on either side.

I think lucas should take a good look at the back to the future triology on dvd they have lots of things included in that dvd and those movies are old also. So i think there is no excuse for lucas not to put in there the true ot and then they should have like i said the true ot then the special ed and then the ut. You should be able to chose which one you watch or all three combined. Plus i think they you should be able to add the deleted sences in the movie. Like one that sticks out the most is in rtoj when vader is stoped from goin to the palpe and he force chokes, that one guy i forget who it is gut. If these would be included that would be great. i also think he should realease it before like 05 and plus we don't even know if he will put them on dvd but he damn well better!!!

One scene I want to see in the deleted scene section of the DVD's is the one from ESB where 3PO tears off a warning sign on a door in Echo Base and several Snowtroopers walk into the room to find the imprisoned Wampas inside!

i also think he should realease it before like 05

They won't be out until after Episode III, and by the way it sounds it will be awhile. Gah!

I'd like to see lucasfilm put some love into the case that will house the UE! It should hold all six DVD cases, and open like the OT SE, 2 peices. All 6 DVD cases should have universal fonts and artwork. And a worthwhile color insert booklet w/ worthwhile literature/pics in it.

As long as it contains the real OT on it somewhere then I'll be happy. He can change what ever he wants as long as I can get the OT in all its original glory. If not then at least I have the SE on DVD and I'll have to live with that I guess. ???

Have you guys seen the original ESB script? It's like twice the length of all the others. The Whole Wampa sequence was filmed, but the they never used it.

MegoHulk
12-30-2002, 03:39 PM
Yeah the Wampa scene would have been cool to see, and to make up for all of C3POs bumbling. Theres alot of deleted scenes in all 3 films I wouldn't mind seeing.

Mann

Not just that Wampa scene, but thw whole battle against the wampa's in Echo base. It's bloddy though.

Oh Star Wars on DVD, why must you make us wait so long to unlock your secrets? I can't wait to see the deleted scenes! Another I think we all will want to see are the ones with Biggs and Luke on Tatooine with their friends!

Mann
12-31-2002, 02:54 PM
X-3PO, I totally agree. I thought that scene was going to be in the special Edition, but it wasn't. I was pissed.

X-3PO
12-31-2002, 03:41 PM
Yeah the Special Edition taunted us with this glorious new Star Wars with all the scenes we knew had been left out, and all we get is that OK Jabba scene with a half-assed Jabba!

Mann
12-31-2002, 04:28 PM
well, at the time, Jabba looked ok. I mean, they've improved him since, but at the time, I like the scene. I lie when Han walks over him, that was funny.

X-3PO
12-31-2002, 04:40 PM
Oh I like the scene too, but there were alot of good scenes that they left out! But I just want to see TPM Jabba in that scene.

Siamese Sith
01-02-2003, 12:51 AM
Me too, TPM Jabba is light years better than ANH SE! The Jabba fron ANH SE looks younger and smaller than TPM version.
And I wanna see that scene where wormy goes with Biggs to Ancorhead and walk in on the fixer and that girl.

That scenes on the Making Magic CD. Although it's interesting it's obvious to see why it was cut. Biggs looks like an extra from Buck Rogers and the acting is really quite crap.
