One of my many favorites was my Death Star Playset

I remember taking the trash monster with me to school everyday in my backpack

Ahhh, yes, the Death Star playset was pretty damn cool. That said, my favorite was the Star Destoyer Executor from ESB. I love how it had Vader's little meditation chamber!

It's a toss up between my death star playset and the Jabba the hutt playset/action figure.

Come to think of it… the Dagobah playset rocked Big Time

I loved my vintage dewback! Long after I had "outgrown" my other sw toys, I still had him hanging out in my bookshelf with my stormtroopers.

I have fond memories of Luke's X-Wing, but I can't remember if Artoo was part of the model or if he could be removed ...

jedijaybird

R2-D2 "detail-less head" was fixed with the fuselage and when you pushed it down it forced the wings to open in "attack-position".

i know that look pretty lame now, but you still can't beat those old slide out lightsabres on Ben / Luke and Vader...

thay sorta havent reproduced those - which i'm kinda surprised about - all the sabres are solid and always 'out'...surely technology has evoleved whereby action figures can have retractable sabres like they used to in the 'vintage' days...??? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/saber.gif

They kind of re-attempted the retractable saber deal with the first Anakin AOTC figure. And failed horribly IMHO

Them made a bunch for AOTC and maybe some for TPM that have a metal or plastic hilt with a plastic saber "blade" that you can put on or take off.

If you look at that pic closely you can see that Luke is already "missing" his saber style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif and that pic is from mid '78...

The very first one in the series. It came with . . . the box lookin' thing that . . . I think had magnets in it so it could flip open or closed with "the Force."

Jabba the Hutt's playset. I got it when I was a kid, and to this day I think it's the coolest. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I remember the first Star Wars action figures I was given, it was the Cloud Car pilot, C-3PO and R2, and later it was to grow. I lost my first collection when my family moved to an other city here in Sweden 1985, and my second collection disappeared in the early '90s (I do, however, still have the vehicles). Whenever I think of my childhood collection, it's that Cloud Car pilot that comes to mind.

Ahhh...the memories. I love how the trash compactor had little foam cubes that served as the 'trash'.
How about the plastic capes for Vader and Obi-Wan and Lando? It didn't take too much for them to tear and become useless.

Oh, yeah, I remember those! They were flimsy, but as I recall, none of those was broken for me.

One of my first toys was the Death Star playset.

A little trivia here: What three colors did the "trash" come in? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Hi - I'm a newbie - first post - woo hoo! I'm fairly old, and Star Wars was my life when I was little, so I have a really hard time picking a vintage favorite. I think I'd have to choose my TaunTaun with the slit belly that you could stuff Luke halfway into. I LOVED that thing. I wish I had a picture to post. As for a smaller figure - I would have to choose my R2D2 with the pop-up lightsaber style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/artoo.gif Love my Artoo style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/inlove.gif

BTW, I'm female, late 20s, currently into collecting the larger statue items (like the ones from Gentle Giant and Sideshow's newest line). And I'm getting really really excited about ROTS style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happydance.gif
