perhaps i'm wrong but isn't it mentioned somewhere that the death star would chain re-act in a new hope?
because it doesn't it just explodes right? has any one else noticed this?

No, launching the torpedos down the reactor shaft would start a chain reaction, deystroying the main reactor, and the station.

still the reaction would hve been seen i doubt the whole space station would just blow up but clever of you to pick up on the lines like that. impressive...most impressive.

The chain reaction was on the inside.
The shaft led directly to the main reactor.
When the torpedos hit the shaft, it sorta lit the fuse that blew up the reactor and deystroyed the station.

Hi. Newbie here. I figure the explosions just happened deep inside the Death Star and when it got to the outside, then, the big explosion that we all saw.

I agree the reaction happenrd internally all we get to see is the last step in that chain reaction which is KA-BOOOOOM.
