I'm not sure if redneck meant it as a joke or was for real but Padme had to go to Mustafar or Obi-Wan would never have found Anakin

To me, it would have been a much more believable plotline if somehow Padme had let it slip that Lil' Ani had gone to Mustafar, and based on that information ObiKenObi went alone to take him out. The whole Padme on Mustafar deal (especially the choking scene) just wasn't believable for me.

how else could have it happened then?

I have a hard time believing that 30 years ago when GL was sitting around pencilling out ideas on his yellow legal pads that he wrote down that Darth Vader chokes his wife.

Are you guys kidding? The irony of Anakin becoming so mentally, emotionally, morally, and spiritually corrupted by the dark side that he ended up nearly killing the woman he loves with the very same powers that he adopted for the purpose of saving her life, was one of the most brilliant plot points of Ep.3.

OK this thread seems to have been killed. Let's talk about Padme and how she's so hot.

She has to be the best-looking actress/celebrity there is. Go Natalie!!

bumping with the non-informative -

I really like the Padme in all 3 prequels and that she's at different stages - she really is in a different place physically, geographically, and in just about every way - in each of the 3 episodes.

the diversified Padme.

i think padme is a bit naive in episode I, and also does some irrational things. like going back to naboo right after getting to coruscant, pushing for a vote of no confidence in chancellor velorum when he's 'her greatest supporter', etc..but she's also very wise in some of the things she says. (so much for chracter continuity). but mostly she gives off the impression of being wise, which is something i like.

I don't think Padme was irrational in TPM. She was determined to see justice delivered, and the Senate failed in its task. She took matters into her own hands when diplomacy didn't work, and used force of arms to see freedom restored.

And her vote of no confidence - Valorum may have been her strongest supporter but he was weak, completely controlled by the bureaucrats who were lining their pockets with money. Palpatine promised to rein in the bureaucrats, and she wanted it to happen before more systems were invaded by the Federation.

Just my 2 cents. Yep, I like Padme as she is portrayed throughout all the prequels. Excellent character.

Well, I'll put it this way, since you've asked that multiple times and don't seem to ever be satisfied.

You don't question a universe where a mystical energy controls everything, allowing beings to do superhuman things. A universe where you can create a sword from pure energy that is self contained. A universe where not only can you go faster than light, but you can measure just how fast past light speed you are going. A universe where cloning works pretty good. Where artificial intelligence is almost as good as real intelligence. Where people have seemingly forgotten the usefulness of the wheel. You don't have a problem understanding that, but you get hung up on one twin having faint memories of their mother and other one doesn't?

But here, how about another spitballing explanation: Perhaps while she was a baby, Bail Organa would speak of Padme often to baby Leia, and her undeveloped brain formulated that in to an image.

I like that answer, Kam.
I agree with you Melissa, it really doesn't make sense to me. But like Kam says, maybe that doesn't matter. :)

the words from Leia were "just images" - so she really doesn't remember the living, breathing Padme at all -

never understood the controversy here and why that's unacceptable....but our quirky George who could have chosen to have Leia be born first and be the one touched by Padme while being held in Obi Wan's arms (and actually at one point that is indeed what the plan was - it's in the Dark Horse comic version as exactly that way) he decides to stir the pot knowing some would perceive Leia's words in RotJ as a "plot hole".

so this was dilberate, folks.

Between the 1980s and the 2000s, I think that GL changed his mind in which direction the "Mother" storyline was going to go.

{sigh} here we go again -
lots of theories -
mine (and others agree) Leia never said she remembered her mother - she said she only remembered images - that can mean just about anything.

melissa, every place Padme and Leia is discussed, you seem to want to keep turning it into the question of how does Leia remember her real mother. Please, this topic has been discussed and picked through thoroughly.

I think that he realized that having Leia remember Padme was a mistake. When I think about it, I just cannot see Leia splitting up the twins and being near only one of them. I just cannot see that. She either had to die during childbirth, survive and raised the twins herself, or give both of them away. But give one of them away and keep the other? I don't see it.

Yeah, I don't see Leia doing that either. Haha.
