Why does Yoda get amazed over a flashlight in the OT. It's quite humorous to see this Jedi Master go nuts over things. What's your opinion. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif

Probably pretending to be senial in order to test Luke's patience. You can see him drop the act in his house when he has finally had enough of Luke's whining.
Still, it makes for one of my favorite scenes in all the movies, especially after seeing just how powerful and in control he is on ATOC.

I totally agree with Master Goeweins on this one, it was all just an act that Yoda put on. He said to Luke that he knew who Yoda was and that he could take him to him. He then tested Lukes patience by making him some food and telling him he would take him to see Yoda later. Luke certainly didn't have much patience then.

Yeah I agree with both. But it's sad when Yoda dies style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

I agree it was a test on Yoda's part, but also Yoda amusing himself to a certain extent. Hermit Humor.

I think that 20 years in a swamp with no girlie mags or beer have warped the poor little green fellar's mind so that even the most basic of household devices prove to be of fantastic interest to his demented brain.
Sadly Yoda has gone barking mad, as finally proven when he starts rambling about "another" when clearly Luke is their last proper hope 'cos let's face it what's a big girl gonna do against Vader anyway???
Luckily the camera cuts away before Obi-Wan's spirit is forced to slap him and give him a cold bath to get him out of his 20 year old rags.

This is true also combined with 20 years or so of exile. Who knows how much contact he has had with anyone. I primarily think it was an act for Luke's sake.

i think that it was just the 20 years of exile had gotten into his head.

I agree, after all these years leading a primitive life and then he sees something like that...

This can easily be fixed by having a scene in Episode 3 where R2 steals the flashlight from Yoda. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

20 years of exile are probably nothing to Yoda. Remembeer: He is several hundred years old...

Or maybe Yoda thought that the flashlight was some sort of Rebel standard issue D.I.Y. sex toy for in the event that a pilot gets stranded . Yoda being alone for so long was more than likley suffering from ******s cramp and need a new source of stimulation

Someone mentioned it to be a test toward Luke. That would be one great acting green dude to put it lightly. I'm suprised he didn't beat luke with the flashlight. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/y.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif

From where?
He has returned from a dark time, of Star Wars dis-intrest, and a deeper dis-intrest in the topic of this forum. Apparently something, or a number of things, he spurned his intrest anew, and he finds himself relishing the discussions of old and new. In short, he has returned to the light. But for how long? We shall see.

I'd say that Yoda having been the ultimate Jedi Master of his time, 20 years exile would be nothing to someone with the mental discipline such as his, and also the fact that he is 900 years old at his death means however long 20 years may feel to us that to him it's just a blink of an eye. Therefore I don't think it had anything to do with a mind being alone for 20 years coming out to have some crazy fun. It's purely part of the act to test Luke. Also did you notice the symbolism? You don't even need to think about the prequils to see it. We know Luke is looking for a Jedi Master. We learn soon after that this goofy green guy is really said master. Then we remember the flashlight scene, waving it around, almost like a lightsabre. Though AOTC adds to the symbolism when we no longer have to speculate if Yoda botheres to carry a lightsabre or use one, when we see him go buck wild all over Dooku.
I wonder what happened to Yoda's sabre... Perhaps we shall soon see.
