Some excellent fan films

Two films I haven't seen a lot on (other than RotO, who pointed me to it) were "Jedi Street Preachers" and "Fanboys", both by Peter Haynes.

They can be found on theforce.net, and I thought they were absolutely some of the best work done out there today (along with my own Fall of a Saga (http://www.southernronin.com), heheheh)

I don't think I've ever laughed harder in a shorter period of time than with Jedi Street Preachers, and Fanboys delivered a story that kept me guessing until the end.

They are well worth the time of anyone who wants some solidly entertaining material that goes above the call of duty on a fan film.

Fan Boys was pretty good. It did keep you wondering where it was going. If nothing else it was different, and wasn't the norm.
Jedi preachers was also different, but I must say that personally I prefer the fan-films that try to imerge themselves in the Land of Lucas.

I have 5 some gigs of fan-films downloaded (with a 56k modem), and although these two films, one more than the other, are alright. They wouldn't rank very high on my personal list. But that is just my opinion. If I had to chose my favorite film in this type of fan-film genre, it would be "The Formula". style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif

Fanboys is so entertaining that it is one of the few fan films that I keep on my hard drive. It pokes fun at the fanbase, but it always does so lovingly.

EDIT: I just downloaded and watched Feel The Force: Jedi Street Preachers, and it has joined my elite group of saved fan films. I see street preachers often in the open mall of my university, so I know exactly the type of person they are parodying. Also, any fan film that uses the works of Weird Al has something going for it.

Please note that being able to enjoy Feel The Force is not the same as agreeing with the Jedi religion. I have sufficient strength of belief that I can watch the film and enjoy the crazy people without accepting their beliefs or betraying my faith. This film can have a powerful influence on the weak-minded, however, so consider yourselves warned.
