I hate when customers come to my counter to be helped, active in a cell phone conversation. I used to stand there like a dumb shmuck waiting for them to end their conversation so I can say, "Hi, can I help you?" Once when I asked a woman what I could do for her, she said sharply, "Can't you see I'm on the phone? I don't appreciate your rudeness!" So I walked away and went back to finishing work for other customers, and after about 5 minutes when she ended her conversation at my counter, she said loudly, "Can I get some service here? I've been standing here for 5 minutes being ignored!"
Now, whenever someone comes to my counter with a phone stuck to their ear in the middle of a conversation, I literally ignore them until they turn the phone off. I think it is downright rude and arrogant for people to do that, especially when they start dialing the phone to make a call just as I start talking to them.

Rude bast@rds. Our job is to greet our customers, find out what they want, serve them, offer them options that best benefit their needs, and it is freaking rude when people walk in talking on their phones and stand there at the counter talking, making no indication of ending the call or telling the recipient of the call to hold on a minute, while the guy can't interrupt you or walk away, and other people are standing behind you who want to be helped and want to talk to the guy behind the counter.

Know what else I hate? Those stupid ear cell phones that people wear on their heads so they can talk without holding a phone to their ear, and they walk around the store and up to your counter talking and talking and they look like they're talking to themselves. You look up cause you think they are talking to you, then you feel like a moron and go back to what you're doing. Then they say something louder as if they were trying to get your attention or referring to you, and you look up and their still oblivious to you and talking into a tiny reciever next to their face that you can't even see, and they look like they're talking to themselves.

I hate brushing my teeth. I do it every single day but I don't like trying to get every tooth and not being sure I got each one for a long enough time. It's so time consuming. Maybe I need a longer tooth brush.
I hate it when I tell customers, "Just write your name and phone number on this envelope...no address, just name and phone number", so they write their first name after LAST NAME and their last name after FIRST NAME, and then their address and no phone number.
I also hate it when they do write their phone number and spend like 14 minutes writing the area code with parenthesis on both sides, and write the area code so big they run out of room for the whole number. Folks, the whole freaking county is the same freaking area code! Why the freak do they have such an obsessive need to write out the area code if we're all the same?

And I really freaking hate the people who move here from another country and never bother to learn to speak English, and don't make any attempt to learn how to communicate with you. This is the land of immigration and we're all immigrants or decendants of immigrants, so welcome to America. Be proud of where you come from and don't be shy about displaying with pride your heritage and diversity, but learn to speak English, the language of the land, or go back the f*c* where you came from. If I moved to your country I would be ashamed to live among you and be so arrogant as to expect you to know what I want when I make no attempt to express myself intelligently.

That's too bad in my town, Jamielee. I've got a very large and growing population of people in this area, many of whom are illegal aliens, and they've been living here for years now. Many of them work for English speaking, under the table employers, and they come into my store with literally hundreds of dollars in hundred dollar bills in their wallets, and they can't find the time or the means to learn the language, making more money off the books than many tax paying citizens here? Hardships my eye. Their lives here, those I've become familiar with seeing often over the last few years, are not as bad as you might think.

Yes, Lara, I'm well aware that not everyone can speak the language with great goo-gobs of clarity, and that my (hypothetical) situation would be quite unfair to the poor guy. Sometimes, I just get tired of these smaller signs of the bigger overall problem, which is a dangerous de-emphasis in this country on the English language.

I agree with you Seanakin. Granted I don't care about accents, I'm just glad that people can speak English, even if it is somewhat broken. But you shouldn't have to learn to speak and entirely different language to talk with someone in this country. The language is English, and it always has been English.

The one of the few positive things I can say about Circuit City is that they have a good paid time off system. Basically every 10 hours I work I get 1 hour of paid time off. Which doesn't sound like a lot, but basically that's a day every paycheck. During Christmas season when I'm working about 50 hours a week it really pays off. I average about 4 to 5 weeks off a year. Not too shabby for a retail job.

Same here. Fortunetly, telemarketers hate me because I force them to try and sell to me without the script, and when it become clear tht they dont know anything beyond the script I make them call their manager over and put me on the Do Not Call list.

I used to answer the phone in a real hick accent when telemarketers would call and start talking and respond to everything with "Ah hyuh!" Then when they were in midsentance I would scream out something like "JETHRO! GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE!"

Most would ask "Is everything alright?". Then the fun would be on. You don't know how much fun you can have playing pranks on the telemarketers who call....

Speaking of tele-harrassers, I hate the ones that take a fortnight to respond after you pick up. (Most likely because it takes that long for the signal to reach India.)

I hate the whole "everyone's a winner" thing. I had a brainbusters competition today (they ask questions, our teams answer them, and whoever gets the most points wins) and my team was out of the semi-finals by 30 points (one question and one bonus question). While my team was sitting there kicking ourselves, some woman came up and started making the "eveyone did great" speech. At the end we all got medals of participation! I hate it! If you didn't do anything to be proud of, people should stop trying to pretend you did.
