View Full Version : RollaFett's Possibly Offensive Answer Thread

That's right folks, it's yet another answer thread! I'm sure that you're all thrilled. I know I am...well, maybe. If you ask me something, I guarentee only one thing: Your question will be posted! WooHoo!!!!
Ground Rules:
1- Be warned that this thread is not intended for the meak. If I get around to answering your queries, there is no guarantee that you will like the answer, hell, you might even get offended. Maybe not, though. If you do, however, it is vital to keep in mind that I am most likely screwing around and to not take me too seriously, unless I really don't like you and totally intend to offend you. But, you won't know either way, you'll only be able to guess at my motivations...HA HA!
2- Hmmm...well, use your head. Don't ask me your hair color, your weight, your mother's maiden name, and other such nonsense, alright?
3- After rule #2, you can ask me pretty much anything else. I may not know the answer (good chance of that, actually), or I simply may not get around to answering. Like Indiana Jones said, "I'm making it up as I go along."
4- If I don't answer your question, well, get over it. Like stated previously, you'll run that risk if you post here.
5- Please don't get carried away with the number of questions that you ask in one post. And don't twist that into posting twenty times, each with 2 questions, ok? Be reasonable. Thanks.
6- I want to say that don't post another question until I answer your previous one, but since I guaratee no answers, I can't ask you to do that either. Damn.
Alright, ask away. I'm sure it'll be educational for all of us. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Do you think the replacing of the half-astroturf at the Vet played even the smallest role in the Eagles' resurgence to the top teams in the NFL?
Darth Arraics
10-23-2002, 10:35 AM
As a fellow area Philadelphian, I'll give you an answer.
Yes & No. Remember other teams hate the Vet, so it was and still an advantage. I have walked on that crap a few times and I don't know how the Phillies & Eagles play on that stuff. It's like being on concrete. But that is my view & this was started by Gollafett so he could tell you something different.

No. The season before they replaced that green pavement, they went 11-5 and made it to the second round of the playoffs before laying an egg against the Giants. The playoff win they enjoyed that season was the first of, now 4 in a row, against those mighty Bucs from Tampa.

Someone asked me this and I told him I'd ask here...

"lightsaber" just sounds better, in my opinion.

Hmmm...I'm inclined to agree with Justin on this one. It sure does sound cooler. Consider this, however, how many times have you also heard the term, "lasersword"? I know I've heard it a few times in either one of the movies or a screenplay or novel. That said, lightsaber still sounds cooler.
Arraics- Only for a couple of weeks. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sly.gif

It would be strange to talk about the duels in this fashion:
"TPM had the best light-longsword duel out of all the SW light-longsword duels. Obi-Wan had a blue light-longsword and Qui-Gon had a green light-longsword, and Darth Maul had a cool light-longsword with a red longsword blade that came out of one end of his light-longsword handle and a red longsword blade that came out the other end, and Obi and Qui attacked him with their light-longswords at the same time and Maul defended against both of their light-longswords with his double bladed light-longsword."
That's a bit too much for me. Forget the curves. "Lightsaber" sounds cooler than anything anyway.

This is in the original post for this thread. Thus, you all have been warned. That said, if Javen was truly offended, I apologize. Although, I read nothing that indicated that.
Again, for those who have not realized it yet, I am not always gentle in my responses. Please, be prepared. And also realize, when I'm not so pleasant, I'm probably joking. Again, be prepared.

Good question, however, I cannot fathom as to why so many people think that they actually have the required knowledge to answer a question, let alone pages upon pages of questions.
As for myself, well, I sort of started one as a sort of tribute to a bud.

Hmmm...I sense a severe lack of a sense of humor. In all seriousness, I have no knowledge of any advice that you have given anyone at anytime. Thus, my answer is based purely on speculation. Well moron, if you, excuse me, your friend had been able to finish the job and kill the intended, then there'd be nothing to worry about, right? Because, obviously, the only reason any covering up is necassary is because the victim survived and can point out the guilty party, no? Ah, the good 'ol days of football season.

Since you mentioned it what do you think of Gatti? I think he is a hell of a fighter when he wants to be. I saw him, oh God what was it, a couple of years ago maybe on HBO and he looked like he could have beat anyone that night. A lot of talent for certain.

Gatti won the fight by unaminous desicion. But that doesn't do the fight justice. Those two guys put on a show for the ages. If you have HBO, do what you can to try and find out when they might reair the fight. If you're lucky enough to get to watch it, do NOT miss the 4th and 7th rounds. Two of the best rounds of boxing I have ever seen!
Yes, it was the main event.
The undercard consisted of 5 fights, only one of I arrived in time to see. It also was aired during the HBO broadcast. A heavyweight fight between up and coming prospect, Dominick Guinn vs. a re-emerging Michael Grant. Grant actually had a title shot against Lennox Lewis 3 years ago, and was beaten badly. He has managed to bring himself back up and was on the verge of a top ten ranking again, before Guinn tore him apart. He should retire. Guinn, on the other hand could turn into something pretty good in the near future.

I remember Michael Grant from a few years back. I always felt that he was indeed over-rated, but what do I know? (That wasn't a question for you)
Here's one for you though. Now that Lewis and Klitchisko (or whatever) have agreed to fight, do you think that K has a shot at beating Lewis? Also, how far can Roy Jones Jr go in the Heavyweight Division? He can't beat Lewis but I like that he has said that he is not afraid to fight him. How long until Tyson becomes the star attraction at the Las Vegas Zoo?

I think that Klitchisko will put up a decent fight, but ultimately will be knocked out in the middle rounds. This is a guy who threw in the towel against Chris Byrd a few years back, and really hasn't been tested against someone like Lewis. Personally, I was very surprised that Lewis was so willing to take this fight. I figured, with such short notice, that he would've delayed, because he has never seemed anxious to fight either Klitchisko in the past.
Although Roy Jones easily beat a much bigger man in John Ruiz, he would have a difficult time against heavyweights such as Lewis, the Klitchisko's, Jameel McCline, etc. Those guys are monsters. However, with Jones, I wouldn't put anything past him. The intriguing thing is this: One of the heavyweight belts is held by Byrd (another guy who jumped up in class), and Michael Grant was taken apart by another smaller heavyweight as well in Dominick Guinn. If some quality heavyweights around 195-220 lbs can establish themselves , then perhaps Jones will never have to worry about facing someone like Lewis. Or perhaps he flat out wants to. But now, the more I think about it, the more I think it matters less and less. Sure, Jones is one of the smallest, if not the smallest heavyweight, fighting right now. That said, Grant was huge, and a much smaller Guinn destroyed him. Holyfield always held his own against larger heavyweights. Overall, Jones has brought some much needed excitement to the heavyweight division.
As far as that carnival act, Tyson goes........well, if he ever gets another title shot, then the 'powers that be' obviously have not learned anything. The reason boxing is looked down upon so often thses days is because of him and it has no chance of changing until he is shunned completely. It's a damn shame that he's still such a powerful draw.
Alright, I'm done with my boxing rant for the evening. Please forgive me, but it's a sport that I've only recently gotten in-depth about, and I only really know about the heavyweights. Damn, there are a lot of weight classes!

It's because we're men!
I go through stages where sometimes I'm really into boxing and sometimes I really don't pay any attention to it. Although I think that those times are only when there is a minimum 5-6 month lull in the fights that are scheduled. I can't get pumped up about say Friday Night Fights, although they usually feature some decent up and coming fighters, but I look forward to the BIG fights. The Morrales vs. Barrera (everyone of those was tremendous). The Lewis vs. Klitchisko (can't wait). The Roy Jones vs. Chris Byrd (I'm optimistic). The De La Hoya vs. Trinidad (more optimism).
My favorite sport is, far and away, basketball. I am a total hoops junkie. I tell people that the only things in my life that I would classify myself as a geek in are basketball and Star Wars. And here I am talking about basketball on a Star Wars website. Go figure.
But I also love football with a passion (TAMPA TIME Golla) and I get more and more into golf every year.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Hey Golla who did Philly pick up in the offseason?
Well, I'll begin with who they let go.
GONE (at least the relevant guys):
DE Hugh Douglas (Free agent to Jacksonville)
OLB Shawn Barber (free agent to Kansas City)
S Blaine Bishop (recently released)
P Sean Landetta (not resigned)
KR/PR Brian Mitchell (free agent to NY Giants)
MLB Levon Kirkland? (Not 100% sure if he's still with them)
CB Al Harris (traded to Green Bay for 2nd rd. pick)
ACQUIRED:
OLB Nate Wayne (free agent from Green Bay)
MLB Mark Simeneaou (trade from Atlanta)
FB John Ritchie (free agent from Oakland)
DRAFTED:
DE Jerome McDougle (Miami, FL)
TE LJ Smith (Rutgers)
DE Jamal Green (Miami, FL)
And 4 other players whom I cannot recall right now. I was not impressed with how the offseason was going until the draft. I really like how they traded up to get McDougle, that is something they never do, so it was really refreshing to see them be aggressive. Also, the TE from Rutgers has a bright future, and they really needed to upgrade at that position. Unfortunately, I'm very concerned about MLB. Simeneaou couldn't crack the starting lineup in Atlanta, and he actually was an OLB there. So they trade for him, then move him to the middle. I hope it works, but I'm very speculative. Also, I don't like how they seem so pleased with their WR's. Sure they had the most 40 catch guys in the league a year ago, and they like to spread it around. But when you're up against a top flight secondary, you need someone who is able to draw extra attention and free up space for the other guys.
Overall, if it weren't for the draft, the offseason would've been a compete disaster, IMO.
PS- Tampa sucks.

All BS aside, I think that the Eagles will have a very difficult time getting as far as they have the past 2 years. I think they're good enough to make the playoffs again, probably good enough to win the division again, but their schedule is so tough. I don't think that they'll be able to get home field or a first round bye. I foresee an 11-5 record, perhaps even 10-6.

Hmmm...sounds like a question to me. Let's see, uhhh, I've got nothing. No offenses for now. And please bear in mind, I don't go out of my way to offend anyone. As the rules on page one of this thread clearly indicate, you may get offended by my answers. As far as your question goes, well, it appears as though everything is splendid, socially, for you. Otherwise, why would you bother asking such a mudane question at 1:50 on a Saturday night? The answer to that I will provide as well: You obviously have no life. Hey, don't get offended, I call it like I see it. Hell, let's face it, if we're posting here to begin with, none of us has a life. :whatsthat:

Alright, I have a question.
Why can't I think of a simple way to make huge amounts of money in such a way that I can laugh myself to sleep at night?
For example, there's an artist who canned his own poop, and those little cans are selling at a price many times their weight in gold. Due to improper canning techniques, some of them have exploded... but still, he's making a lot of money.
Another example was Senor Wences. This guy was a ventriloquist that made a living by talking to his fist. He appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show 44 times and traveled the world. You may not remember him, but he was the guy who would say to his fist (with a crude face drawn on it), "S'ok?" And his hand would reply, "S'ARIGHT!"
I am wracking my brain for a way to make indecent gobs of money, and simultaneously mocking the entire world at the same time. Any suggestions?

Forget the shirts and stripes, Tovor.
Intensive market research shows that men who wear flouncy, feather-studded hats are perceived as 'lighter'.

Oh boy, looks like I was too late to aid you, good buddy. Sorry about that, I'm crushed, truly.
That said, you do know that the New York Yankees originally came up with the idea for pinstripes as a direct result of the massive frame that Babe Ruth carried around, right? His pear-shaped physique wasn't good for the Yankee image, so they deduced that pinstripes would slim him down. With that knowledge in hand, and upon seeing a few pics of you here and there, I can only hope that the only thing on you that was vertical were the soles of your shoes.
PS- How was the movie? I'm stuck between seeing that, or 'Hulk' for a second time. What do you suggest?

Have you seen recent pics of me? I am a bit pear shaped abs and sides. That work out regiment at Bally's didn't last long I guess.
I have avoided seeing the Hulk. I simply can't see myself taking the film seriously enough. I liked the TV Hulk with Lou Ferigno as the Hulk, a man playing a flesh and blood Hulk, not a ridiculously big cartoon looking thing that throws tanks and choppers around and jumps from mountain to mountain like Superman. As for T3, it was very good. Don't expect it to surpass T2, but it was excellent though it was weak in one or two places. I expect to see it again. Therefore you can deduce that I'd recommend seeing T3 over seeing the Hulk again.
I haven't logged on to ICQ for a long time, since the last time we talked in fact. I've barely logged on to my computer lately. Been preoccupied in mind and spirit and haven't felt up to communication with anybody for awhile. One of these night, my friend, I'll be on again, when you least expect it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/satisfied.gif

Well, I'll be looking for you! Unfortunately, if memory serves, you usually go online right around the time I need to go to bed. Ugh.
Anyway, your thoughts on 'Hulk' aren't off-base. Obviously, you're a fan of the TV show, which I liked as well, but I also was an avid comic collector in my youth. Now, 'The Incredible Hulk' was not among the titles I collected, I certainly knew enough about the character to know that the the movie version appears much closer to the original version than the TV show, although both are quite good. I would highly reccomend seeing 'Hulk'! it's an outstanding film, and it's not just a big green beast throwing around tanks and such. There's an actual storyline that's not too shabby as well.

Well, I'd be pissed too, although I'd be sure to punch you and your friend instead of a window, which probably wouldn't have sent you to the hospital. That's what I think. :sly;
As to your other query, well, I'm pretty damn disappointed that the Flyers didn't go after one of those guys, but not surprised. Where did you pull that quote from? It feels familar, but I cannot place it.
Anyway, to answer your question, these are the titles that I can remember collecting:
-The Amazing Spider-Man
-Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man
-Web of Spider-Man
-Spider-Man
-The Uncanny X-Men
-X-Factor
-Classic X-Men
-X-Men
-The Punisher
-The Punisher: War Journal
-Batman
-Detective Comics featuring Batman
-Legends of the Dark Knight
-Catwoman
-G.I. Joe
-Transformers
-Spawn
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-The Mask
-Star Wars (the Marvel years)
...and I know that there are others, I simply cannot recall all of them right now. As far as what I collect now, I don't. I've sort of grown out of it, I suppose. That, and they're not nearly as cheap as I remember them being back in the day. Besides, I'd have nowhere to store them where I live now. Speaking of, can I bother you for an answer, Golla? Well, I was thinking of my ghastly vast amount of nonknowledge, so I was just wondering if there was such a thing as an intelligent slob.
Hmmm...when you mention Garbage at the outset, am I to assume that you are referring to the modern rock/punk/techno music group? Because I would be devastated if you were referring to this thread, and dissapointed.....in you. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
As to your question, sure, you can bother me for an answer. Now, will I be bothered to actually answer? Uhmm...no.

I quite possibly am ready to be offended possibly. here is my question for you. what would you do if you have a really hot 3rd cousin once removed or something (i dont know how the family tree works!!!)? She isnt a 1st or second cousin for sure, but is it too close? That one shouldn't be too hard for a possible offense.

actually, to answer your quesiton seriously, my mom nows of a couple who got married and they are cousins (not even 1st or 2nd, the actual thing) and even thought the doc said that their chances of having normal kids were high, they didn't.
i don't know if that helpped. but i'm sharin'. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Well, since you asked me what I would do, I'll make this quick and painless (and unoffending, for those who were expecting otherwise!). I'm married, so I would not go after any woman, related or not, while being married.
