ok, I was the only one to vote for the third choice. I can't really give an oppinion here. I've never heard a song of hers, only seen pictures. She looked like a real b**** in one of them, but kinda pretty in another. So, I'm just neutral.

I also have only heard rumors, I guess you could say, but what I've heard is about half and half; some people love her, some people hate her.

She's a 16 yr old Canadian pop singer. I haven't seen that interview and don't care to because I don't think she's such a good singer. I don't know if she's a composer, or does she sing other people's songs. I also don't think she has that much staying power.

Christina Aguilera is another one I can't stand.

I just noticed RAD's pic above, so I guess that is Avril. I saw her perform but didn't know who she was, if that is the same singer I saw. She performed on the Tonight Show and Last Call and I think Conan too, all playing the same song.

Really, I went with my teacher and another student that won. I was gagging and sick to my stomach the whole time. I couldn't leave for obvious reasons. It was the most unentertaining concert I have ever went to. Live cover bands at a bar downtown are better than this fecal matter of an artist.

I dunno much about Avril as a person, but I think her songs are ok, nothing worth writing home about though.

I think I read somewhere that when she writes songs, she's sitting down w/ some guy who has a guitar, and she comes up w/ a simple melody and some lyrics while he does the rest. More effort than Britney puts into her music, but still... if you don't know enough about music to write your own songs fully, shouldn't you be a little bit more humble when it comes to stardom? After all, your success wouldn't be yours alone...

That's why I love performer-songwriters like Alanis (I am a huge Alanis fan), Jewel, the better rock bands, etc. They rely on their own smarts and talent, and when they do all their own work, their music comes out sounding unique and true and not cliche-ridden like every other pop song out there. Plus it's cool watching to see exactly how many different instruments people can play - for some artists it's a staggering number... :0

I hope those articles aren't real... it'd be sad if someone who rails against a preppy girl treating a guy badly for no reason treats an unsuspecting reporter badly for no reason... if so, she must not write all her music - she wouldn't believe in all that she herself says.

I must agree ardently with Gavre. No reporter should be treated with such distain. I also second Gavre's motion that stardom isn't only for the star but for the person who wrote the actual song.

Even if in video clip she has that attitude, in order to appeal to the 'punk' group of people perhaps in reality she should just be herself. Maybe then everyone would value her more. I agree with Gavre. I think that if you sing other people's songs you're not really an artist, you're just a voice conveying an artist's message.

Christina Aguilera has gone from the girl next door to the girl in the red light district. She has no clue who she is or where she's going; at first she followed Brittany with her cute little Genie in a Bottle, then she tried to follow Ricky Martin cause she said her dad was from Ecuador; I think she wanted to be categorized as one of the Latin crossover singers, or whathaveyou. Now, she's the skank and she says that this is the real girl...c'mon!!!

I like Alanis and Sheryl Crowe, and most of the bands that are out there. Lifehouse, Nickelback, U2,...real music, real artists.

Actually she had a very sucessful album in Spanish that nominated her for best Latin Performes on the Grammy awards and that pushed her career in South America upwards towards the top of the pop ladder of success.

But after that she forgot about her Latin heritage and went out rhe horrible real world to found her real her, LMAO style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

And about the Skatergirl, she isnt the best around and she looks very fake but not enough to hate her. If I hate someone, must be Beyonce and Britney poorbrains Spears.
