View Full Version : Will GL Pay Homage To Kevin Smith?

Kevin Smith is pretty much the only film maker in the world who has gone out of his way to pay homage to Star Wars in every single one of his films. I think George should return the compliment and somehow involve Smith in ep3. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
In fact, I would love to see both George and Kevin, done up in rags, in the back of Mos Eisley cantina talking about whether Greedo shooting first was really necessary.

That would be hilarious, but Lucas doesn't permit anyone to challenge his work without feeling his wrath.

Jay and Silent Bob are mentioned in the movie with the dialog option on......

the Audio Commentary for the atoc dvd has George Lucas PAYING HOMAGE TO KEVIN SMITH style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/exclamation.gif
He makes the comment that the Geonosian's would be the contractors hired to build the Death Star, the one's that Jay and Silent Bob are worried about when the DS blows up, but really they're just giant termites.
ok paraphrasing and technically it was Dante and Randal who had the conversation (with a disgruntal contractor) but still, Kevin Smith (aka Silent Bob) has been immortalised in Star Wars Lore, and by god himself no less.
onya Kevin!!

"feeling his wrath"? Oh, please, give me a break. This is just absurd. I have now reached the point where the meaning of my life is to understand why George Lucas is so villified and demonized by the media and Star Wars fans. It makes no damn sense to me at all.
The reason why this will never happen, is because it would take people out of the movie. Turning to the camera and saying 'this is a movie' may be appropriate for Rocky and Bullwinkle, but not for Star Wars.

Probably not gonna happen. But it would be cool if he were an extra in Ep. III

Imagine the look on Kevin's face when George answered him directly!
Being the hard core fan he undoubtedly is, he would have watched atoc with the audio commentary on first (I know I did) so he's probably gone from seeing at the cinema to being mentioned in the film!
ok, an extra in ep3 would probably top it but it's still way cool
Guys,
I think Kevin Smith should be DARTH SIDIOUS!

I think if there was another big lightsaber battle scene in Ep.3, and Silent Bob was in the midst of it someplace, screaming his head off, and then being sliced in half - that would be good.
And Kevin Smith would probably be alright with it.

two choices:
1. Siamese Sith is Kevin Smith
2. Siamese Sith is George Lucas
or a third
3. Siamese Sith received a bootleg copy of the dvd a month before anyone else.
I'm thinking the first style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

then halts the fight, turns off the blade, takes a hit from his dopplebong, sparks up the blade, the fight continues

It's true. He got a bootleg. And guess where he gets them? From the guy who serves food in his company's cafeteria. For those South Park fans out there, that means he's getting bootlegs from Chef!
He once got a bootleg VHS of the big-budget version of Godzilla from a street vendor. The entire movie was obscured by someone's afro, and was tilted at a 45 degree angle. That was a fun tape to watch!

Yes, but how did somebody "bootleg" the commentary track without a master?
By the way, judging by the clues, the GL commentary track was done before initial release. He mentioned surprise at the fact that the "digital" portion at the end with Padme grabbing Anakin's hand was already in the version he was commenting on.

I really don't know who Kevin Smith is. But I think GL should've paid homage to Alec Guinness. I'm still PO'd about that. Like it would've killed him to put this on the screen for a few seconds before the movie started.

Sorry, don'y remember getting a bootleg of that craptastic movie. My supplier hooked me up with the academy awards copy of LOTR! I was so shocked when I saw it for the first time @ home, it was totally up to snuff, minus 95 % of the special features, and AOTC was even better.
But I don't participate in illegal activities such as that anyway!

he still my do so in ep3 - undoubtedly it will be the biggest of all three.
I'm pretty sure Alec would have been happy with Ewan's protrayal.
well
maybe not that 'another pathetic lifeform' line.
