One thing, and again I dont know is this was discussed. We now know that Yoda is a mighty swordsman.. He is powerful in the force maybe he couldnt beat the Sith Master maybe he could but again why not just go and fight vader when ani becomes vader I cannot think that Vader is more powerfull than Yoda.. Who do you think is more powerful too..Yoda or Vader or Palpatine...?? Is that a plot hole..

I've never completely understood that myself. If anyone had a chance at defeating Sidious and Vader, I would think Yoda would be the one. I think part of it might have been that if he showed himself anywhere, he'd just be killed. It would be difficult to get to Palpatine, who wouldn't even attept to turn him. But I'd would think Yoda would try something instead of accepting defeat.

Do you think that Palpatine is stronger in the force than Yoda..I must agree that I would think that Yoda would have a chance and fight rather than just sitting back and hidding out...

Yoda would lose. Why do you think he hid from him?

Yoda would be pretty screwed all alone. After the Jedi are killed and Obi Wan does a runner with Luke. I don't think he could take on Vader & the Emperor and all their imperial forces.
Maybe he figured he'd wait it out until the galaxy's new hope was old enough to be trained...

No but he sent luke up against vader and the emperor and imperial forces so I guess lucke is stronger than yoda huh...Just saying why wouldnt Yoda just go after the emperor say like at the end of say epsoide III. I mean I am sure at some time in Ep III he finds out the truth about palpatine and palpatine does not have the forces yet so why not go and kick his but.. if not then at least fight vader take one at a time..I guess Yoda is the jedis Pimp

i think its because yoda knew he couldn't do it and the time for it wasnt right so he waited for luke knowing only another skywalker could resist or fall.

Except that when Luke showed up on Dagobah in ESB, Yoda refused to train him. So Yoda apparantly wasn't waiting for Luke. Unless you're suggesting the new hope was somebody else. I'm baffled. I'm not sure what Yoda expected to happen by just sitting around.

Good point. Perhaps he wanted luke to learn more self control before he trained him.

i think yoda sent luke to face vader because yoda knew that he was the only won who could beat him, vader may have better light saber skill than yoda at that time, but I think yoda was better with the foce than vader. I believe that vader was stonger than yoda when it came to lightsaber skills.

Borg - You could put that initial refusal (which didn't last long) down to Yoda fooling around. At first he even indicates that he's not Yoda "Take you to him, I can."
Let's face it after 20 years of only having snakes for company he must have been wanting a bit of lively conversation. Also maybe his plan was to get his hands on Luke when he was younger and train him from there.

Yoda sent Luke because it's his son. How could one kill his son. It makes it more meaningful. Vader would probably kick Yoda's butt, and Lukes, but since it was his son, he was able to find a more sensitive side to Vader.

I think Luke might have been able to defeat Vader on his own (and he did), because Luke is obviously special. I think he is the true Chosen One, and Anakin was just a red herring.
I think Yoda at first refuses to train Luke just to see how he'd react. I'm sure Yoda was planning to train him all along, and he and Obi-Wan were in cahoots.

Of course Vader was stronger than Yoda. Remember the words of the sithfullness Palpatine in AOTC. " I see you´re becoming the greatest jedi ever. Even more powerfull than Master Yoda!". style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/y.gif
He was the chosen one. He killed the Emperor in ROTJ.
He showed Luke that the good side wasn´t driven from him completly. He turned back to the good side, and made balance in the force. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel.gif
