the official DVDs will probably be out after EP3...you can get the classic triliogy on DVD now though if you know where to look. I have it and I know a few others here do too. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Yepp, there are certain ways to get your hands on a copy of the OT.
But thereīs something I want to know from those who have them too: I noticed that the sound on ESB and RotJ is levelled down during any action scene (thatīs for Dolby digital and DTS), and turned up during any dialogue. Is that on every version of the DVD or just the 5-Star-Collection ?
It sucks.

Theyīre real DVDīs with great picture quality (at least itīs the picture quality from the laserdisc, which is great, anyway).
VCDīs usually donīt come with Dolby digital. and DTS- sound.

Yes..it's from the 5 star DVD collection. They are transfers from the SE laser discs...which mean the picture is better than VHs but not quite up to a high level DVD . Still, it's a good pic and the sound it mostly good. Are these perfect?....no, but they are DVDs and the only ones available for the next 4 years. And at 12 bucks a piece you can't beat the price. The extras aren't great but you do get chapter selection, subtitles, trailers, etc. No deleted scenes but did you really expect that anyways? Not a bad fill in till the ultimate edition comes out after Ep3.

This is where I got mine. I'm sure there are other sites also. I assume the prices are pretty much the same anyplace you go. Don't buy them off E bay..you'll pay double what their worth. :look:

Do they come in wide screen, and can you get the original versions (not the Special Editions)?

Yes it's widescreen...and yes you CAn find the originals but those are more expensive, and not as easy to find. I also cannot comment on the quality of those as I've not seen any. I saw a few of those for sale on Ebay but I stopped bidding when the price got over 80$UKP.

Another place that has 'em is www.freedvdstore.com. At first I doubted that it would be possible for them to have a DVD of the original, but I'll take your word for it and get em. I haven't tried freedvdstore.com yet. Their website looks a little too-good-to-be-true. They say that if you buy a DVD you get a second one absolutely free. They claim that it's no joke, no club, and you aren't obligated to buy anything. That sounds a little weird, but for only $20 it's worth finding out if it IS true.

Yeah , they are out there...I do have all 3. The site I bought them from isn't around anymore it seems...But they are out there. No extras or anything, guess thats why they're so cheap.

After Ep III comes out and after all six are rereleased in the theatres in two week intervals. He needs the money to justify all the changes for the extra special editions.
