Now, most people tend to think that Greedo was a total idiot for not killing Han with the first shot [I mean it's across a table, how hard could it be] but I just realized that maybe it was a warning shot and he was hoping to take Han in to Jabba alive. Well what do ya think?

I think Lucas is an idiot for making Greedo fire first. There's no more to it than that.

'I've been looking forward to this for a long time' - greedo, anh

I don't think he gave him a warning shot - definitely flubbed his only chance. The shot was aimed at Han's head, he moved it just in time (well, those wonderful cg artists moved it for him)

I think it was the worst mistake in the SEs. Ive heard it said that Lucas wanted Greedo to shoot first because he didnt want Han portrayed as a cold blooded killer. but in my eyes, it was self defense, and Han was an illegal smuggler, he would have to deal with dren like that and know how to survive.

BUT GREEDOS GUN WAS TRAINED RIGHT AT HAN!!!!! It would have been a LITTLE hard to miss him at that range!!!!!!!!!

I must agree with jedi-d'oh on that point.

Let's hope George Lucas know that ( almost ) nobody likes this change and he will change it back to the Original 'Han shoots fist' version for the Ultimate Edition.

We can only hope.

Maybe GL just thought it would be more entertaining that way, or maybe it was just to make Greedo look bad, because after all a table is a small thing to shoot across. An answer which will always be pure speculation as i find it unlikely that the reason why he missed will ever be placed into a future OT edition.

Don't forget Greedo was one Green bounty hunter. And I don't mean the color of his skin.

yeah, but even a greenie couldn't have missed at that range. Plus. the gun is trained level at Han, but the shot hits the wall. It just fired up instead of even.

Maybe he didn't adjust for the crooked sight, or he had a defective gun. Lame explanations, but.....

that scene just shows how retarded GL can be. he doesnt care about story, he just wants to try out certain things in the special effects departmnet

I agree that that particular change was uncalled for. also, i suppose scince he was trying that stuff out for the prequels, he was toying around with things and ideas. that was just a bad choice to fool with.

we can always hope but I think Banthas will fly before George changes his mind. He seems very stubborn.

Unfortunately, I must agree with flo fett. I don't think Lucas will change it back. But i do think that he should be able to edit the movies on DVD so as to choose which scene is played.

Well I hope the DVD's have the option to play either the original or the special edition version as I would hate for my only original Star Wars videos to get chewed up !!

The Greedo shooting first was a totally lame and silly idea. The only possible explanation I can even think of is that his gun was faulty and wasn't sighted up properly.

Wanna know something funny? When I first saw the SE, I thought that shot was Han's, that sjut bounced back and recocheted to hit Greedo. I was startled, but then came to realize that it was Greedo's shot. I hate it and think it should be unedited.

jeez - I thought I was the only one who thought that - it wasn't until the second viewing that I worked out it was Greedo style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif
