This isn't a good poll because the only choices indicate that one of them has to beat the other one straight out, with no problem at all. It would be much more complicated than one simply smearing the other.

This is hard, because Superman obviously is much more powerful than Batman, but Batman has a very keen intellect.

If it came down to it, it would be close, because Batman always cheats. He always has a plan, he knows his enemies up and down before he goes after them, knows their strengths and weaknesses, and knows how and where to hit them, mentally and physically.

I'm sure Batman could come up with some plan to defeat Superman if he had to, but Superman us so much more powerful than him. It would be a very close match, and it could go either way, as far as I'm concerned.

Ultimately, though, I have to go with Superman. He's the toughest there is. But it would be close.

Batman has no weaknesses? He's a regular guy, even if he's in better shape than most people and knows martial arts. He has all the same weaknesses as a regular person.

His anger and pain over his parents' death is a weakness as well; Ra's Al Ghul (a major Batman bad-guy) used that against him by digging up their bodies and threating to desecrate them in a Justice League comic they made not too long ago.

You can pick it up at a bookstore or comic shop, I think it's called "Justice League: Tower of Babel."

Anyway, Kryptonite makes Superman weak, but it does it slowly. First you have to get close enough to get it near Superman, and then you have to make sure it stays there for like ten minutes in order to kill him. It's really not much of a weakness at all.

Say you shoot him with a Kryptonite bullet. If it actually could break his skin so quickly (it probably could if it was a knife that was pressed against him slowly), he could probably find a way to remove it before it kills him. Krypronite doesn't just automatically put Superman down, he has to be exposed to it for a while.

And Padme, Batman is nowhere near as strong as Superman. He's just a regular guy. Superman is from another planet, and his Kryptonian molecular density makes him a great deal stronger than the strongest human being. He can knock over buildings for crying out loud!

It's pretty sad that I know all this, lol.

Although I like Batman a whole helluva lot more than Superman, I must vote for Superman. All he has to do is get a hold of Batman and rip his head off. That, or any other super-human-strength-type thing that would result in instant death/victory. I hate to admit it, but Batman wouldn't stand a chance against someone with the powers of Superman.

Now I'm sad.

In a straight fight, no-gadgets, or fancy items, Batman is a goner.

But Superman and Batman are both cool heroes, and both have their strong points.

Batman uses psychological-fear-instilling mental attacks on his enemies, Superman, on the other hand, just breaks the wall down and takes you away.

I think Brucey could probably find someway to beat Clark, but I doubt it.

Superman is powered by solar energy stored within his Kryptonian genes, after Doomsday, he was weak for days before he was up to his normal self. But he wasn't killed by Doomsday, he was just in a sort of "Supercoma".

Batman is a normal guy, who can be killed and, that, would be the end of it. Thats why I think Batman is the better hero.

But he couldn't beat Superman, unless he could find enough Kryptonite to kill him, and get close enough, long enough, t use it.

Batman HAS beaten Superman in a fight.

Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns... if you haven't read it... it's hands down the best Batman story written (IMHO of course, though the sequel sucked). And Batman uses his intellect and technology to beat down the Man of Steel. It's an interesting fight.

"The Dark Knight Returns" is definitely not the greatest Batman story ever told. In fact, I think the second half of it sucks pretty bad. After the Joker dies, it all goes downhill.

There's a little known issue of "Detective Comics" (I don't remember the number) that was part of the "Armageddon 2001" cross-over that was really good.

Even though it's a "what-if" style thing, it's a great story, and much better than "The Dark Knight Returns." It's still not the best, though. It's just one that stood out in my opinion.

Well see... that's where the magic of a little acronym like "IMHO" comes in handy... you see, 'The Dark Knight Returns" IS the best one... in my humble opinion. Just as the one you mentioned is the best in your opinion.

But before this turns to a debate over the best Batman story which is off-topic... my point was on-topic that Batman DID beat Superman and the results of this poll are moot at best and those debating should check it out because it's neat and covers the topic being debated. That much at least is definitive and not opinion.

What does continuity have to do with anything? In the future, Superman's powers diminish or something? Certainly Batman doesn't become stronger. It doesn't change the fact that in a storyline where Batman and Superman actually fight... Batman wins.

Now if we were talking about an altered reality story where Batman is bitten by a radioactive bat with Kryptonite blood, that would be a story inapplicable to the argument... but DKR is not an altered reality, simply an altered timetable...

Bruce is dead before he hits the ground. But he would never be dumb enough to enter that fight...

Continuity has to do with everything. I have an elseworlds comic where Green Lantern is a nazi. Does that mean it really happened? No, because it's not part of official continuity.

Another of the best Batman stories is the "Laughing Fish" storyline, in which the Joker poisons the water in Gotham harbor, making all the fish have these nasty grins.

HEHE, I thought some ne might mention this. um, It wasn't like he was experimented on or anything. It natural because it's what happens through a natural process. It's like if you are adapt to a cooler climate and move to a warmer climate, you body changes. It's a natural reaction. It's how his species react to our sun.
