No seriously, I prefer Roger Moore, he's just great.
Timothy Dalton was the worst mistake since, the first mistake.
I'd say Pierce Brosnan is my second favorite.
You forgot the guy that played Bond in the first 007, it was not Connery, and the movie was not all that popular, can't remember either of them. ???

I think Pierce Brosnan is the best, because he's a little more human than Connery, and we've seen a little more of Bond's character with Brosnan. Connery's Bond was also really arrogant and sexist, and kind of prissy. Don't believe me? Check out the scene in Goldfinger when he complains that there's too much brandy or something in his drink.

Hey the man prefer Martini's, give him a break.
Yeah, those are the exact reasons why I don't really like Connery's Bond all that much.
Why I don't like Dalton?
He sucked!!!!!

Sean Connery is definitely the best, if not the only true James Bond. He's much more similar to Ian Fleming's books than the others actors.
Roger Moore was the worst Bond, because his character was too much based on Q's gadgets, a bit like Pierce Brosnan. George Lazenby ( the one you forgot from On Her Majesty's Secret Service ) was very good but not as good as Connery and even if he was the most 'spy' one of them all, the good Timothy Dalton was apparently too slow for the average movie-viewers. There was also several good Bonds in 1967's Casino Royale... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
But Sean Connery IS James Bond.

I don't know his name, but the first James Bond film was a tv movie version of Casino Royale on the old Dumont network in 1954. Don't know if the tape still exists or not, it was done live, and most of the tapes from that era were recorded over to save money, so it probably doesn't exist anymore. And Sean Connery is definitely the best Bond, but Timothy Dalton's portrayal probably most closely remembled the way the character is written in Ian Fleming's novels. Roger Moore was definitely the worst, because he wanted to turn Bond into a slapstick comedy. There is absolutely no humor in Ian Fleming's novels, Bond's wisecracking and sarcasm is a Roger Mooreism that I wish they would get rid of.

I hate to say it, but the wisecracking stuff started in the Sean Connery Bond films. Like when he spears a guy in Thunderball and then says, "Well, he got the point."

I think that the best James Bond is Sean Connery. I have the whole James Bond movie collection with Sean Connery. I like the way he acts and the things he says. He also has a great voice, Sean Connery is so style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/inlove.gif

Sean Connery. His movies were cool, even back in the '60s. He is one of my favorite actors anyway.
Pierce Brosen is 2nd because of the sfx and the hot chicks in his movies.

Anyone find it ironic that it took an Irishman to play a decent modern day James Bond? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Yes, but I don't think that you will any other examples, except in Diamonds are Forever. With Sean Connery, the wisecracks were occassional, once or twice over 6 films. With Roger Moore, Bond was suddenly trying to be a stand up comedian. Sean Connery made one bad Bond film (the aforementioned Diamonds are Forever) Roger Moore made 5 bad Bond films:
Live and Let Die
The man with the Golden Gun
Moonraker
Octopussy
A View to a Kill
I completely gave up on Roger Moore after Octopussy, when he did the Tarzan yell, how lame is that? Interestingly enough, the 3 worst Bond films (Live and let Die, Diamonds are Forever, and The Man with the Golden Gun) are all written by the same man: Tom Mankiewietz. But, even Pierce Brosnan ain't perfect, he made Tomorrow Never Dies which is a piece of crap. The lamest Bond villian ever in that one.

Dalton, no question. He is Bond. And I grew up on the Connery movies. Connery would be my second choice, followed by Pierce Brosnan (though I only liked him in GOLDENEYE and somewhat in TOMORROW NEVER DIES). Overall, I don't think there's really been a bad Bond so far, just bad Bond movies.
Also, the very first (TV) Bond was Barry Nelson, though he was turned into an American agent and I think Felix Leiter was made a British agent. I think Peter Loree even played the villain. Be interested in knowing if that taping still exists. Should put it on a special Bond DVD for fans to see.

I'm a Brosnan guy, just 'cuz I'm a big-time Goldeneye (the movie AND the game) fan. The other ones he's done have been pretty average, though I wasn't a huge fan of Die Another Day, since it just seemed to be a splicing together of several previous Bond movies.

You forgot George Lazenby, which I think was the best James Bond. His portrayal of James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (the best of the Bond movies) was the closest one yet to the character as described by Ian Fleming.

I couldn't choose, their all so good. But I do think that Die Another Day was terrible. Bond films are starting to repeat themselves. In both The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day, the first sexy female seen turns out to be a bad guy, and the second one is the lucky lady at the end of the film.

I'm one of the weird few who actualy preferred Timothy Dalton. I thought that his Bond was a much nicer Bond, and so much more respectful of women, who tended to be a little more intellegent in his movies (although admittedly I've only seen one of the Pierce Brosnan ones - I always like PB but I'd had enough of Bond by then.)
