SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

You have been warned.

Two major deaths(spoiler) Tsavong Lah dies...BOM BOM BOM! By the hand of Jaina, no less. And Vergere, dies! I'm not exactly sure how Vergere bites the dust, but she does. I only hope that this whole thing was a Vong Plot designed by Overlord Shimraa himself, and Han just happened to trip the trigger on his blaster. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif

Shimraa will emerge from the darkness of wherever he's been hiding.

Vergere will become a guiding light to Jacen, after she DIES, anyway style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif .

Ackbar has some thing bad happen to him.

Hint:

BarT: Lisa, next time we go to sleep, we could die!
Grampa: Welcome to my world...

The End.

Oh yes, and Shimmra has these special "god-delivered" powers that come up in DW. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Actually, I think DW made it fairly clear that Shimraa's powers AREN'T from the Vong gods. I think Shimraa can use the Vong Force on a Palpatine type level. Or at least a dark Jedi level. That's the impression I got anyway.

Or maybe, rather than the Force (if he's a Dark Jedi when this whole series is over, heads will roll), perhaps it's the Vongsense that is a different "frequency" of the Force, like Jacen encountered during his expedition on Yuuzhan'tar in Traitor.

Heads will ROLL if Shimmra's a Sith or Dark Jedi!

Pretty kewl book, I read it today. Even though Vergere ended up saving Jacen's life I still really don't like the character much. She just ticks me off.

The space battles were pretty kewl. I hope Jaina finally has come through her depression. Its nice for the New Republic to finally have a biiiiiiiig victory. Nice to see Ackbar can still kick some butt too!

Man they need Stackpole to write a book so Corran can kick butt!

They need to bring back Stackpole, I agree. He is one of my favorites, he's right up there with Zahn and Allston, but I've always thought that he slightly overdid Corran, JMO, but still s great author.

Yeah one thing Stackpole does great, is write the space battles really well, especially when it involves an X-wing.

I just haven't found the dog fights as exciting as they are when he writes them. In fact at times I've found them kinds irritating. OH great yet another battle against skips, I'd rather just find out what happens next plot wise thank you very much. Now if Stackpole were to do one, then I might be a bit more interested in the dog fighting.
Yea I love Zahn too. They need to get some of the old school writers back on board!!!!!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Well I hope you got all your stuff done. I enjoyed this one too. Hehe YAAAAAAAAAAY Vergere is dead, I soooooo can't stand her. Although I agree with Rusty, it seems like a waste to build her character up and then kill her. Especially since she was the last surviving Jedi of the Old Republic!

Is Vergere gone though? She's already come to Jacen once as a spirit. Could she continue appearing to Jacen like Obi-Wan did for Luke?

Its possible, after all, Jacen does have Skywalker blood.

I hate the fact that they killed Vergere! ??? I was really begining to like her! But it seems that they build up characters, make them really interesting, only to kill them off. They did the same thing with Anakin. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Did Tenel Ka appear in Destiny's Way? I heard a rumor that she died in the NJO. Whatever happened to her?

Thanks style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Tenal Ka is the Queen Mother of Hapes. She appeared in DW for the overly dramatic Jedi Knight ceremony.

Here's my review on DW.

Destiny's Way

Writing- Very Good. The battles were well written, not exactly hard I suppose but rather than been driven by action it was driven with emotion. I didn't even care for Vale yet I was annoyed when she died. Jacen is becoming a more likeable character and he was written well here. Interestingly, all the major OT characters are starting to fade into the background. The writing for the Vong was excellent and the Supreme Overlord is an excellent character. Nom Anor, one of my personal favourites, was written well.

I liked: Jacen. Surprisingly. Coming to terms with his new powers and ideals, even using Force Lightning at one point. Like I said, battles were were done and the characterisation was endearing. Every scene, especially the itching scene, with the Vong was well written and often entertaining. The heretics are going to be an interesting plotline in future novels, and this only gave a minor taste of them.

Didn't like: I really don't like the continued developement of Jaina into a mindless, fighting drone, waiting to die., That's about it really.

Story Arc- A hero returns. Jacen, along with Vergere, returns from a period of detainment, and teaching, under the Yuuzhan Vong. Jaina is still fighting and waiting to die. Han and Leia are meeting with the Imperial Remnant for aid against the Vong. Meanwhile the Vong Supreme Overlord arrives, with Tsavong Lah and Nom Anor desperate to exonerate their failures. The new Chief of State is elected yet a sinister plot is behind it all, with a new weapon which can kill the Vong, yet turn the galaxy towards darkness. Melodramatic, huh?

I liked: I really like everything about the book. It's up there with Rebirth but I really can't mark it ahead of Traitor. The story pace was fine and it was never a chore to read (like, step forward, AoC). The Jedi, Political and Vong aspects of the story melded well. I liked the character Jacen in becoming, and finding out more about Vergere. Shimaraa seems like an interesting character. Omrni saying something about him betraying the Gods was interesting. An upcoming plotline or a references to a fact mentioned in some book a while back that the Vong Gods never wanted them to invade the galaxy.

Didn't like: The deaths of Vergere and Tsavong Lah. They were poorly done in my opinion. Compare them with the deaths of Anakin, Chewbacca and even Ganner Rhysode. They pale in comparison. Tsavong Lah was killed in a one line, out of nowhere after a very short battle, and Vergere gave her life away pointlessly (If she was that strong in the Force couldn't she just life the ship down and explode it there?) That's about it really.

Personal Bent- Nothing springs to mind. Maybe the gap where Ylesia should go. The book isn't that big at only 446 so the extra 70 or so wouldn't have gone astray.

My score: 4.49/5

i didnt think that vergere dhould have died, but if tsavong lah would have died evn if he lived to report back to the vong, and if i might add in an even shorter and less glorious line

I just finished reading DW and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Though I was surprised at the death of Vergere. If she is appearing to Jacen in spirit form, does that mean she disappeared when she died? 'Course seeing as she rammed a ship into a planet she undoubtedly did disappear, but I'm talking about the Jedi way of disappearing. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

We'll probably never know, Luminara. Remember, Qui-Gon didn't disappear in TPM, and he came back in AotC. Of course, Episode III may shed light on the issue in two and a half years...
