Jedi Is Now A "real" Word

I have just read an article in our national newspaper. It says :

Science fiction's "Jedi" warriors and "Klingon" bad guys have made it into the newest edition of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, along with "asylum seekers", "asymmetrical warfare" and "spin control".


What you guys thing about that? All I can say is what took them so long...

I think the guideline is that a word has to be in popular use for at least 10 years. Klingons and Jedi have been around for at least 20 each! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

The compendium, officially known as the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, has added 3,500 new words, including famed Star Wars terms Jedi, the dark side and the force.

From Star Trek Klingon, warp drive, warp factor and dilithium have now been added to the English language guide.

I think it is awesome that Jedi and Klingon have been added.
