Just wondering which Groening series you guys think is the best?

Personally I could sit and watch The Simpsons until I just rot away, I will always love that show.

Recently though however I think it has lost its edge and its originality of stories whereas Futurama always makes me laugh with the different stories and ideas, and nearly every episode has a message to it.

In conclusion then, The Simpsons is a classic, but I think that Futurama is the more funnier series, at the moment!

Perhaps you didnt have to be so harsh, thats all.

Thanks for your opinion. I agree that the Simpsons is a classic, its been running a hell of a lot longer and has had some classic episodes!

I think that Futurama might be just as good in the future.

Why do you think it sucks? Any reasons in particular?

I watched the show Futurama a couple of times. Its ok but you can't say it's better (well you can its your opinoin) and i will give few reasons.

1. This show has been on for ever. Witch means they done it all first.
2. Futurama has not been on the air long so of course everything they due is new.

I'd go for The Simpsons, such a funny programme. Theres not many preogrammes that make me LOL but its one of them whereas Futurama just makes me laugh quieter. I also prefer The Simpsons because it takes the mickey out of everyday things more so than Futurama and so its humour seems a lot funnier as its more understandable.

i dunno. the simpsons is classic, but lately the episodes have gotten a little dull... it feels like it lacks continuity... futurama may even be superior to the later episodes just in that it's a bit...like...fresher. but, like lonesaber, i can watch simpsons syndicated reruns until i die.

gotta go with Futurama but Simpsons still rocks also. Not sure you can really say one is better than the other, they're just different.

That was the point that I was trying to make, The Simpsons episodes {newer ones} dont really seem to have much plot to them, they just seem to be 20 odd minutes worth of jokes where as they used to have a very clear story that the jokes would just fit into.

Like an episode I watched a little while ago of The Simpsons, it had something to do with a biker gang and it ended with Homer and another guy picking up there Harleys and using them as swords!?!

I mean I laughed as I always do, and it was funny and all, but what the style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/censored.gif !

Im just saying its not like it used to be, whereas if you watch Futurama, the episodes seem to have the same edge as The Simpsons used to have!

They're both good, but "The Simpsons" is better.

The Simpsons has been on for a long time. During those years, we have been able to get to know a lot of different cast members very well.

We now know:

That Moe's real name is Momar Szyslak and that for the longest time was an illegal immigrant.

That Maggie has a tendency to play with guns.

That Krusty, Hershel Krustofski is an illiterate non-practicing Jew who has faked his death and has retired from show business 5 times.

That Dr Julius Hibbert has a twin brother that he does not know about.

That Hans Moleman started out as Ralph Melsh. In "Principal Charming" from the second season Hans is at the DMV trying to get his license renewed. Right when Patti is about to stamp his license, you can pause the DVD and read his license. He lives at 920 Oak Grove in Springfield, USA 90701. This zip code is for Artesia and Cerritos California.

It is the deep character development that makes the show so enjoyable. We have had the time to watch the characters develop.

As much as I love the Simpsons, some of the original episode are not funny. But, they were necessary for the character development. So, give Futurama some time; it could eventually get to where The Simpsons is now.

Well in France ( where I live ), only the two first seasons ( is that the right word ? ) of Futurama have been broadcasted but they are, for sure, much better than the lastest The Simpsons episodes.

That is the right word Shaft, and thats my point.

The quality of the later Simpsons episodes aside, I think that the first series' of Futurama have much more potential than the first series' of The Simpsons had. The animation in them was pretty much appaling and the story lines had almost no jokes in them at all. It didnt start to get to what I would call 'extremely' funny until midway through the second to third seasons.

Futurama, has already exceeded the expectations set by its predecessor. In my opinion.

My vote is Simpsons but I do agree that the show has lost a bit of its edge. Futurama does seem to have that but it will never top Simpsons in my book.

The Simpsons has shown some signs of life recently. Remember a couple of years ago that "Behind the Laughter" episode? Classic.

Futurama is fresher and funnier as of late, dont get me wrong though I love the Simpsons but as many shows do they run thier course. Southpark is hands down the BEST and better than both, but thats my opinion.

They did have that one episode on South Park that Butters was Professor Choas and all the plans he kept coming up with to hurt South Park was already done by the Simpsons, so it was kinnda a tribute to the Simpsons.

Both show's are great, but you can't really compare them.

That's like comparing Star Wars to Indiana Jones, the two just don't mix.

Although you may enjoy one over the other, you cannot judge them againt eachother.

They are too different, and yet too much the same.

QuigonWindu

Yea that was a funy South Park. My faves are the Rainforest episode and the Afghanistan episode.

once a simpsons fan, always a simpsons fan....

don'e get me wrong, i love both shows, but the simpons has one thing that futurama never will:

cultural impact

futurama will never be used to discuss religion or philosophy, it'll (obviously) never be around for over 16 years, and it's just not as funny as the simpsons

"i can explain marge, please let me explain, OH WHY WON'T YOU LET ME EXPLAIN?!"
