So I'd like to see a title that begins with "A" to keep it in line, course if he does use "A" that means they'll be two "A" titles in a row. Maybe he could go with something different all together, no "A", "The" or "of the."

A Prophecy Revealed (Anakins Fall, Luke's birth)

Of course he may be going by beats:

Return of the Jedi - 4
Attack of the Clones - 4

A New Hope - 3

A Fall From Grace - 4 (Course that doesn't sound very pulpy).

If that one were to be used I think GL would lean towards "Revenge". With Return of the Jedi, it incinuates a feeling of peace. While "Revenge" is more turbulent and better for a harsher people; like the Sith.

Like I said, sometimes SW titles have more than one meaning. That's why "Fall of the Jedi" works. It has two meanings--

Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, and the death of all the Jedi Knights.

The more I think about it, I think GL will go for something pretty vauge for the EPIII title with no mention of specific groups in the saga.

I don't know... I can't really think of anything else. It was rumored the Episode II would be titled 'The Rise of the Empire', but obviously it wasn't. It's also apparent in AOTC that the Empire is rising.

Ok, heres the deal. Everybody seems to think 'Rise of the Empire' or 'Revenge of the Sith ' would be a suitable title for episode 3. I don't think GL will call it either of these titles ...he'll outsmart is all once again just like he did with a title like 'Attack of the Clones' (which NOBODY thought of, and is a good title that's simple and easy to understand, hence the children he's trying to target).

I think some of the titles already posted on here are okay and some are ridiculous. Like, what the hell is 'End of an Era'? ...thats retarded. It sounds like some kind of title for a civil war journal on A&E or a cheesy romance novel! You have to imagine it from Lucas' point of veiw instead of just dreaming that it will be called some 'kick-ass' name. 'Rise of the Empire' I believe was the working (and rumored) title for Ep2 at one point, so Ep3 probably won't be called that. ok ok ...heres my suggestion:

I'll tell you why i think it should be called this. It's simple, easy to understand for children (thats what Lucas wants). It's not another 'OF THE' title. It begins with THE (like TESB). It has a 2 key words like all the other titles ...The QUEST of FATE ....just like ATTACK of the CLONES or RETURN of the JEDI etc. QUEST is more of a positive word, while FATE is more of a negative word that reflects the negativity within the story of Ep3. And, I think it will be relevent to the story of Ep3. After the clone wars end Palpatine sends Anakin (who is now a hero for ending the clone wars) to the infamous lava planet to recover something of great power (possibly that Kyber crystal thing). There, he meets his FATE with Obi-wan, when he falls into the lava. Hence, this would be Anakin's 'Quest of Fate'
Plus, it has a ring to it, it's catchy, i can picture it being said on a radio or picture it on a poster.

The thing about the Episode II title was that I thought the Clone Wars took place long before Episode I. Apparently, that's not how GL wanted things to happen. I also thought maybe 'The Clone Wars' would have been a better title for Ep. II, but 'Attack of the Clones' is sufficient. All of the rumored titles and ones presented here all seem to make sense for Episode III, but that doesn't necessarily mean any of them will be used.

All of the titles have something in common. All have between 3 and 4 words, and noun or verb has ever been used twice. (exluding jedi, hope, empire, etc.) In episode 4 and 1 the titles were both vague (and have three words). In episodes 5, 6, and 2 the titles both evoke action (and have four words).

Yeah, it is a novel written by Steve Perry detailing the events that occured between ESB and ROTJ. It has a video game adaption, a comic book adaption, and even a sound track (which isn't that bad). I know this is EU, but I doubt Mr. Lucas will name EPIII "The Shadow of an Empire;" It just sounds too much like "Shadows of the Empire."

And, Darth_Combover, "Dark Force Rising" is the Title of a Timothy Zahn Book that is a part of the "Thrawn Trilogy." You guys are coming up with some good names, but unfortunately, they've already been taken.

My suggestion would be "The Trial of Anakin Skywalker." Sounds a little pulpy, doesn't it? In Ep.I and II there have been references to "the courts" and to the appellate process. The title serves a double meaning. Anakin's Trial from Padawan to Jedi and perhaps a criminal trial against him.

I can envision Anakin being tried in a grand hall, surrounded by every representative of the Republic and a tribunal made up of Jedi. He could be tried for violating the Jedi Code by marrying and for, perhaps, crimes against humanity by destroying the Jedi. His death sentence being commuted by Palpatine.

The promo could read, "His greatest crime was Love." Just an idea.

I take the title 'Fall of the Jedi' not to mean the fall of Anakin but the fall of the Jedi as a whole before the power and treachery of the Sith...Anyhow, we're all wrong no doubt. GL will come up with smething no-one will think of, as usual. I never was one of those who thought AOTC was that bad a title, but TPM was pretty woeful. Law of averages suggests this title will be decidedly average at best! Something like;

I agree with Trilogist and DarthLestat, Fall of the Jedi would be perfect. If Anakin is a Jedi when epIII starts, it will have double meaning, the fall of a Jedi(Anakin) and the fall of the Jedi Order. It would also relate very well to Return of the Jedi, which has two meanings as well, the return of a Jedi(Anakin) to the Light Side of the Force and the return of the Jedi Order with Luke now ready to rebuild the Jedi Order.

it was going to be revenge of the jedi ( because they kill the emperor and vader so on ...) but they thought revenge isnt a jedi trade so they did return
1)anakin/vader turns to good so there is no presssure on the republic
2) the main people in the line of darkness have been killed (vader emperor) so the jedi can return.
fall of the jedi would be good because it would fit with all above
but rise of the empire sounds good, but clashes with empire strikes back because they have not been down if you get me

Revenge of the Sith isn't gonna be the title. Lucas' original title for Return of the Jedi was REVENGE of the Jedi. Return was better becasue it had more than one meaning. think of a title that has more than one meaing.

the phantom menace:in reference to Sidious mostly because he's in a cloak and a hologram, but also Maul because he's the main threat. Anakin's future seen through the eyes oof the council in a menace also.

Attack of the Clones: the most obvious reason. The looming thret to come, when the JEdi are powerless to the clones.we'll learn about it in Episode III more.

A New Hope: Luke skywalker becomes a hero. the Rebel Alliance wins a major victory over the empire.

the Empire strikes back: Opening sequence on Hoth. the chase of the Millenium Falcon. Vader's plot to catch Luke.

Return of the JEdi: Luke's return to Yoda. Luke faces Vader again. Luke reveals he is finally a JEdi to the Emperor. Anakin returns and kills the Emperor to become a JEdi at last.

My title for Episode 3: Fall of the Order-until I think of a better one.

I think Revenge of the Sith has a much better shot because due to their very nature the sith are much more likely to be personified by revenge. The jedi aren't the type or their creed won't allow such action but that seems one of the mainstays of the sith. I do agree it's not a double meaning of a title and that's probably what GL will go with but it's got an outside chance.

"Revenge of the Sith" makes sense. It's completely opposite of ROTJ. Jedi rebound, Sith seek revenge. It is also appropriate for an episode that will and must end in a bad way for the good guys. And finally, it is exactly what Darth Maul said to Sidious in EP I:

"Finally, we'll reveal ourselves. Finally, we'll have our revenge."

The quote may not be exact but it's close.

I like the speculagtion regarding the "A" factor in the plot...but I also tend to agree that Lucas seems to NEED to center the title around something more like "The Fall of the Republic" or (though I think he may not do this simply for reason of overkill ...Fall of the Jedi?....exactly...but then the A in the title could allow Lucas to come up with one that encpmasses everything this movie should be about; mainly the fall of Anakin to the dark side, the hunting down of the Jedi and the (what I prefer to think is going to be a ) TRANSFORMATION from Galactic Republic to Galactic Empire. Think about it this way:

The Phantom Menace = The Sith reappears
Attack of the Clones = The good guys attack

A New Hope = The good returns
The Empire Strikes Back = The bad guys attack
Return of the Jedi = The Jedi reappears

Episode III should have a title with the content of "The good falls"

I'd just like to point out a few things for when your thinking about the title:

1.Before the title for Episode II came out, a lot of people thought it would be "The Clone Wars" but GL called it "Attack of the Clones" which sounds similar.Now most people think Episode III shoud be "Rise of the Empire" but we know that's not what it will be so maybe it will be something similar but what nobody will guess right away.

2.Everybody's thinking to hard about it. Your saying stuff about how many words there in each one or what words are in each one, do you really think GL thinks that hard about it. :eh:

3.My brother came up with this.Episode 4 is called "A New Hope" which means in Episode 3 ther can really be no hope at all, for the Republic, for the Jedi, for anybody so the title has to go with that somehow. "The Death of Hope" sounds kind of cool but maybe a little too cheesy alongside "A New Hope". I like "The Quest of Fate" but I think my favorite so far has been "The Age of Reckoning". style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/saber.gif

I think "The Enemy Within" is quite a good title, as it may refer to Palpatine, Anakin, any other as yet unknown traitor, as well as the enemy within us all - the Dark Side.
