Hi, my name's BlueSaber and I'm a StarWars-Aholic.
It began in 2000. I was at the video store, trying to decide which of the delectable New releases to choose from, when a Really Cute Guy came over and asked if I'd seen The Phantom Menace. I said no, that I wasn't really interested in SW. But he, using his Really Cute Guy charm cajolled me into renting it.
So I watched it, not fully understanding what was going on. (Jedi? what's a Jedi? Oh cool! So they can move things with they're minds? I thought there was some guy in a big black suit supposed to be in here...) Even so, I was dissappointed when it was finished. So I watched it again. And again. In the space of 24 hours, I had watched it 3 times.
About 2 weeks later, I rented it again, this time watching it only 2 times. And when I took it back, I saw that they had the others, the older movies in stock. "What the hell." I thought, so I rented ANH. And then ESB. And finally I wanted ROTJ. But the tape was stuffed. So I went around my school, begging my friends and people I hardly knew for the tape. Finally, it was my friend Alexa who let me borrow it. I had it for three months, watching the whole thing every day, and the end sequences with the final battals at least 3 times more. But it was only after getting my best friend obsessed, and then starting a fanfic, that I realised I was hooked.
I downloaded midis, wavs, MP3's. Pictures, fanfiction, whote my OWN fanfiction. And then, joy-of-joys, I discovered...JediNet.
And that's how I'm here today.
So what are your stories? How did you become obsessed? How did you get your parents/friends/teachers obsessed? Tell the world!

Hi, my name is Darth Whaler and I'm a StarWarsaholic (we're all supposed to say that right?).
I'm 25 and have been a fan for as long as I can remember. I don't think I really became a Star Wars geek though until the Phantom Menace came out. By that time, I had become an Internet junkie and began surfing Star Wars sites for movie information. Then I found a Star Wars message board site. I was fascinated by the detailed, in depth discussions that transpired. I saw the movies in a new light after seeing people's various perspectives and insights. Soon I became active in those discussions and then...BAM...I was a Star Warsaholic. Never to be cured.

Hi, my names Agent Bond, otherwise known as TK-007, and I'm a StarWars-aholic.
It all started when I was five, I had already seen ANH when I was but a wee one, and my mother tried to make me a nerd early on, but I was more of a He-Man nerd.
So there I was with my friend, he ad a recorded copy of ESB on video.
I watched it all the way through, and I was hooked, throug all the upcoming years the movies rooled continuasly in the back of my mind, then came the SE, and that is where my true fandom began, only to grow more and more over the next 6 years, with two new Star Wars movies.
To this day, I can never thank my friend enough, for introducing me to such a cool galaxy.

Hi My name is Obi-Stu and (you guessed it)I'm a StarWars- holic.
I have always loved Star Wars. As kids we would always play with our Star Wars figures. By the time I was 15 I had
watched ROTJ so many times friends wouldn't watch it watch it with me any more.
Then came the internet...now matters are worse, it's not my fault.
I have no intention of reforming!

Hi, my name is Aayla and I am a StarWars-aholic.
It all began, when I was 7 years old. My father showed me Empire Strikes Back and after that Return of the Jedi. However I did not see A New Hope, I really liked other two movies. About a year I was big Star Wars fan: I had many action figures, books and all this other stuff, but then I moved to a new city, and somehow all these toys got lost. And I forgot Star Wars.
Weeks became months, months became years and then, on not very special day, one of my friends told me, that there's going to be a new Star Wars movie. For a second I even did not remeber, what is Star Wars, but then all my memories came back. I remembered, that I had all these toys and movies and books. I remembered my ridiculos obsession. Then, few months later, I saw The Phantom Menace and became a Star Wars geek. I discovered cool internet pages and after Attack of the Clones, I found The Galactic Senate.
Now I promise myself, that I won't forget Star Wars, whatever happends.

Hideo, there! My name is Luvinna, and I am a StarWars-aholic.
Just like Darth Whaler, I too have been a fan for as long as I can remember. I remember one year at Christmas (probably around 1983) when my grandparents gave all the grandsons lightsabers. I don’t remember what I got from them that year. I just remember how jealous I was that my brother got a lightsaber, and I didn’t. Fortunately, I have a very considerate brother who would, on occasion, let me play with it, though that may have been because our mom made him. I think we would have had more fun if we’d both had one, though. Then we could have had duels.
style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel.gif
Time after time, my brother and I would beg our grandma to let us borrow her VHS copies of the OT. We’d keep them for months at a time, watching them over and over. It wasn’t until I turned 16 and got a job that I finally bought my own copies of the movies.
The thing that got me irrevocably hooked was the EU books by Timothy Zahn. I will admit that when I first saw HTTE in bookstores in 1991, I was skeptical. I remember thinking, “No! They’ll mess it all up!” It wasn’t for another year or so that I got around to reading it. I don’t remember what it was that got me to pick up the book after so long. But pick it up, I did. Then I read DFR and TLC and I was hooked. Even when the EU books got a little… shall we say, ridiculous … by then I’d had news of the Prequels and the SE movies, so all was good.
:sigh:
Since then, I’ve been responsible for getting more than one friend addicted to Star Wars. One of my friends told me this weekend that another of our friends has forbidden her from hanging out with me because she’s started quoting SW. I’ve also found a few fledgling SW fans that I’ve taken under my wing (X-wing, that is) and helped to turn them into junkies as well.

I just saw AOTC for the 9th time in the theater so I could break my prior theater-going record of 8 times seeing ANH. I'm in the process of brainwashing my kids, but it's only taking on my youngest two. My oldest knows better.
I keep trying to write a novel that I could actually publish, but it keeps getting interrupted by my writing Star Wars RPGs and stories. I say I'm just "practicing" for my real novel, but I'm starting to think it's just too hard to let go. I'm not sure what will happen when EP3 is done!

I'm Hando, and I'm a StarWars-a-holic.
It all started when the SEs came out, at the time I was seven. I'd seen snippets of the films before but, nothing really stuck. But my mom told me how she'd grown up with the SW movies and she hoped to drag me into one of the showings of ANH. By the time the pod ejected I was hooked.
I now have most, if not all, EU(not counting kids novels). I have hundreds of little toys and a load of the vehicles. AN dnow my inner monologue speaks in terms of TPM, ANH, AOTC, ESB, ROTJ, and all manner of abbreviations.
I found T'bone's SWU about a year before TPM came out. I found spoilers and a message board, then when Cinescape kicked him, along with Aaron's Monster Zero style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif , off the server I was told to join this board and become a Senator, and I did.

Hi my name is Tonin and im a Star Wars-aholic.
it all started when i was eight. my parents were at a Christmas party and had left me in the care of about 6 teenaged guys. They were all watching Star Wars on TV so I had to as well. About 5 minutes into the movie I was hooked. That night we watched all three movies and then acted out the battle of yavin. I went to the library and borrowed the movies about once a month. then, right before the SE was released my parents got me the movies. I would invite all my friends over and make them watch the movies with me. Then when I was in eighth grade I found out about the EU. Within 2 years I had bought and read all of the novels (excluding the little kids ones), had the radio dramas, and tons of little keychains and pens and just stuff.
that was also the year that TPM came out and I begged and pleaded to go on opening day, but didn't get to see it for two more weeks. Around this time the news people were doing all kinds of stories about Star Wars and they interviewed this guy standing in line. He mentioned jedinet and ofcourse i checked it out, and got drawn into the message boards (well, reading them anyways).
I was starting to get better but then last year about this time I had a relaps and started getting all excited over EPII. I went and saw it on opening day at midnight (although it was 1:30 am befor they got it working, and several people had been thrown out for making graphic threats at the projectionist). I took each of my friends individually to see it so i could rationalize as many viewings as possible.
I read and reread all of the books constantly and have the EPII poster over my bed, with the soundtracks constantly playing. *sniff* i just cannt kick the habit *sniff*

I would have a hard time deciding, too. Though I think I'd end up taking it out of the box.
Hi i'm Rinc and i'm a Starwarsaholic
It all started when i was in a pushchair in a park at the age of 18 months. I wanted a ball so i held out my hand and it flew straight into it. My mum looked astonished and by the evening i was being taken away to the jedi temple. Since then i have become a jedi knight and was lucky enough to be on a tea break when some jedi went off to Geonosis. Then i helped in the clone wars but my jedi starfighter got damaged and i flew through this big black thing in space which kinda sucked me in. I crash landed on this planet which you call earth. In fact i suffered severe amnesia and it was a whole year later while in a hostile that i found out about these "Star Wars" films which seemed to be about my home galaxy. Slowly the memories came back and i told people about them. They thought i was mad. Ha ha ha. Me mad? I tried to pick up things using the force but your air is too damn dirty. They even put me in a jacket thingy and put me in a room with padded walls. Now i'm ok. I'm not crazy, much. I know i'm a jedi people just don't believe me. Ha ha ha. I am you know. Lalalalala. Jedi jedi jedi. Hmmmm, a jedi you say? Yes master. Stormtroopers in here? Oh no i'm shot. Jawas to the rescue.
I still watch Star Wars daily.

BUT They sure did manage to make that thing act like the real R2-D2 acts in all the movies (except, perhaps, for the rockets in AOTC, but including the 'guardian' thing he does in Pademe's appartment in the beginning of that Episode); he's kind of a pain in the... as 3P0 will readily tell you.
But That's why I love the little guy!
Oh, AND, of course, I am *so* sorry...

I WISH SHOPS WOULD SELL SW TOYS IN THIS GODDESS FORSAKEN COUNTRY! Then I WOULD buy 2!
I find that these days, SW has been incorporated into most aspects of my life. Even in fanfics. Especially in fanfics. I tried to write an Animorphs fanfic but ended up turing it into a crossover with SW. The same whing happened to my Harry Potter fic. Hi I'm flo fett and I'm a Starwarsaholic;
It began for me when I was 4 years old, my friend's mum was the first person in our street to get a shiny new vhs recorder and the first video that was played was ANH, this was followed by an encore of ESB and then... after driving my mother crazy leaping about for a few weeks with my little friends playing starwars I was taken to the cinema for the first time to see ROTJ. I have been a shameful starwars mess ever since. I was given into trouble in class for writing out the story of ANH as my 'What I did on my holidays' Story in Primary Three (well I hadn't done much and the lie was more interesting than the truth). I have been shunned by many would be female friends growing up because of this (they couldn't understand my fascination with a 'boys movie' to this extent). Luckily I have had many supportive male friends who have nurtured my love of all things SW and who look suitibly impressed by my merchandise purchases and never say ' you paid how much!? For THAT?!!'
I would like to take this moment to thank them, for never being embarrassed by me, even when I made my Boba Fett costume. :look:

Hi everyone, my name is Kevin and I'm a Star Wars-aholic.
I posted this as a new thread earlier ... I guess one already existed. "If an item doesn't appear in our records, it does not exist!!" (Jocasta Nu, AoTC)
When do you know you're an absolute Star Wars freak? Every time I come to a stoplight, I find myself waving my hand and trying to use the Force to make the light turn green. I'll do the same thing with automatic doors ... trying to use the Force to open them!!
Do any of you guys have any funny quirks like that?
style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel.gif
My addiction to Star Wars started about two months before Episode II came out, when I saw the original trilogy for the first time. I had already seen TPM, but I couldn't understand how other people were making connections and all that jazz. I especially liked RoTJ, particularly the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. I thought it tragic that such an innocent little boy could turn into such an evil man. (And so on and so forth...)
Then Episode II came out, and I was able to make even more connections!! I was so excited when I saw the Geonosian Archduke Poggle give Count Dooku the holo of the Death Star, I almost yelled in the theater. (And don't let this get out, but I'm all about the cheesy, mushy love stuff!!) I recently finished reading the Thrawn trilogy, and I enjoyed that as well.

I also do the thing with the red lights and electronic doors. I get extrememly funny looks from people. I'm in my dad's work at the moment and I did the electroninc door thing and I think the security guard was about to check me for drugs.
Other things that I do involve attempting to read my teacher's mind during a test to find out the answers, trying to levitate my pen and "Force Tickling" my friends (It's actually Aura tickling. It doesn't work on everyone, though. Ticklish people are more prone to being affected. Run your hand from the top of your friend's head down their back without actually touching them. The results are quite ammusing).

It's worse!! My friends ... they don't know the truth ... I really AM a Jedi!! I'm a music Jedi!! (I seriously had a dream about that yesterday. I was using a silver lightsaber ... it might have been a flute, for all I know.)
Oh well. Dreams pass in time, but I'd much rather dream of ... Just being around her again is intoxicating. But I've made a commitment to be a music major, a commitment not easily broken. I just hope I don't turn out to be the death of my teachers.

Anyway ... my friends all think I'm crazy. But as I said before, it's worse!! They're overly critical, they never listen, THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!
But I AM grown up ... they said it themselves.
Hey BlueSaber, I tried what you said today, about the Force-tickling. It didn't work, but I figure my midi-chlorian count here is only about 30, so I need to keep building on that in order to increase my knowledge of the Force.

Since I'm only a (shhhh... don't tell anyone) teenager, I started getting into Star Wars right before The Phantom Menace. I had already known what it was, and I had seen some of the original trilogy. A few of the SOTE and the ESB POTJ figures had joined my action figure roster of Spiderman and The Punisher back when I was 9 or so. Even after I saw The Phantom Menace I wasn't into it too much, it stayed with me for about 2 weeks then I moved on. Just last September was when I really got into Star Wars (reading the books, writing fanfics, looking at pictures, stumbling onto this website, watching the movie more than once, etc., etc.) A friend of mine was really into it, and his book was supposed to be published... I got into it using the excuse that I was going to read up before so I knew what happened when I read his book. I guess I've never come back out.

i'd consider myself a starwarsaholic, but i don't think i'm as morbidly hooked as some of you people. i remember watching empire when i was around six, over, and over, and over, and i'd constantly rewind the duel scene between vader and luke. my love for star wars was renewed with the special edition releases (though i still prefer the originals) and from then until sometime after phantom i nearly slipped into being pathologically addicted as many of you are. i think it helps that i've always resisted EU crap...what nearly got me though was my action figure collecting habit... i have most of the phantom menace figures, and several OT figures, but i decided to quit one day, cold turkey, and haven't bought any star wars memorabilia since. i went thru a sort of phase of non-materialism, and i'm thankful that i did, for i have not squandered absolutely all my money on star wars stuff. anyone interested in buying my old figures off me?

Same here... like all the people who go to conventions and stuff... (shudder)
I like Quackers "mumblings" because they're weird. I mean... who wants to read boring stuff everyday?
I love all of Radiohead's songs... but Quack's words remind me of "fitter, better, happier", "just like spinning plates" and "paranoid android." I think my top favorite Radiohead song is probably "High and Dry."

you're probably just thinking of his mumblings as radiohead-esque from the way the lyrics are positioned in the ok computer booklet. isn't that right? isn't it!?
yeah. conventions are a little weird. or people that dress up to go to the films. and people that cheer. i hate people that cheer at films. i hate going to films in theatres, in fact. people are so damn noisy. and people that clap after the movie has ended as if the director is in the theatre incognito just waiting for some appreciation of his work. my message to movie-goers: shut up!
what a tangent. gee. i apologize for that. but seriously though, shut up.

Hi, my name is Zorbahutt, and I am a 27 yr old StarWars-aholic
(my name is a contradiction to my real waist size) style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
It began when I was a child after I saw ESB and ROTJ as they came out, at which time I got the action figures and everything that went with them. My friends and I just got more and more into the movies during high school and then in college, when my roommate (best friend) and I would watch a star wars movie every other night it seemed. The movie posters covered our walls and we each had part of the bed sheet set. At this point I got a computer and started to collect the wav and mac sounds online and collected all jpg pics I could get my hands on. I was an instrumental part of a SW area on the now defunct eWorld (for mac) online service during college. I worked at a ymca camp in which each summer a group of us starwars-aholic counselors would coordinate the theme for a night's activities which centered around star wars. We all spent hours on our costumes. A friend and I would go to see the special editions when they were released over and over until we would have trouble staying awake during the late night viewings because we were so familiar with the plot lines. (that and the load of college got to us)
Now as a married man, I still get real into star wars, not as fanatic as back then, but it still drives my wife bonkers sometimes. (I know what you're all going to say...should have married a star wars fanatic instead!)
Hope you all can learn to cope as well with your affliction...

My name is Plo Koon and I'm a 14-year-old Star Wars-aholic
It all started when I was 5. I was feeling kind of sick during that time so we went to a local video rental store and rented ANH. I wasn't very ammused by it. But I was when I saw the entire trilogy when I was 7. I became obbessed with it and bought all kinds of merchandise. I grew out of it when I the next year. When the special edition came out I was obbsess once more only to come out of it again through the progression of the next few years. But last year when I saw AOTC my dependency on it came back and now it doesn't want to go away. Especally now that I've gotten into the EU. I have a feeling I'll never get out of fanboy syndrome.

Hello my name is MADDOG 62 and I am a SW Junkie,
I can't go day to day not making a odd reference to SW. I am a Correction Officer and I make obscure references to SW to my Inmates. some laugh but most look atme like they have no idea what I am talking about. Sometimes I lecture them about the ways of the Force my supervisors think I am crazy, and I tell you they are right. When I go to the store I walk through the electronic doors and wave my hand as if I cause them to open with the force. I told the guy who fixxes my car that the Hyperdrive was shot and please replace the hydrospanner. I go on websites to disargee with all of you about rumors and speculation of SW. I AM SUCH A NERD SOMEBODY KILL ME THE DAY AFTER E3 IS RELEASED.

Hey, I'm Ikrit, I'm suffering from Star Wars-aholism and enjoying every second of it.
I first watched ESB when I was 10, and another friend who was hooked on star wars at the time was trying to hook me too. I liked the movie but wasn't obsessed about it. Several years later, I saw several Star Wars books, the Glove of Darth Vader, and I thought at the time that they were the greatest things ever. Then I later read Heir to the Empire, and truly became hooked on star wars. It was only after this that I actually watched A New Hope and Jedi several dozen times, so it was really the EU that got me hooked on SW. I also plan on working at Lucasfilm someday, or just chaining myself to the front gate of the Ranch until Lucas agrees to make another trilogy. Oh, and I do have a life outside of Star Wars too, but I don't see what's so great about that. I've spent several hundred dollars in the last on star wars merchandise: I'm a complete and total fanboy and the reason Lucas is so rich. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

G'day my name is Glenn. I have been a Star Warsaholic for as long as I can remember.
I was born in the same month Star Wars was released May 1977.
It might have something to do with my condition but I dont care. I started with the collection of toys and somehow lost them all almost.
Cant remember watching ANH or ESB at the movies but do remember ROTJ very well. After that Star wars was still a addiction but I found it hard to see material to relieve my craving.
I then discovered the internet and got my fix from fan sites and the insider.
Finally with special edition and the prequels I think I might over dose but I dont care.
Are there any starwars fans who would like to die watching Starwars?
(should start a survey?)
Darth Cimmer
06-05-2003, 08:27 PM
I am Darth Cimmer, yet another Star Wars-aholic.
I was 4 years old when I first watch ROTJ. But of course
I didn't really understand it.
I truly became a fan when I was 6. Me and my sisters
would watch the Star Wars Trilogy every day if possible.
I remember getting excited when I realized that it said
IV on A New Hope, and knowing there had to be Prequels
coming.
It was at the age of 8 that I began getting my hands on anything
Star Wars; books, toys, collectibles, posters.
I used to run around the house with a sheet on my back
and make the mechanical breathing noises as my sister
played the "Imperial March" on the piano.
When we finally got a computer and an Internet service,
my PC folder was full with over 400 Star Wars pictures.
I became so into Star Wars that I began writing my own stories.
The first one I ever wrote was "Legend of the Bounty Hunter".
One that I was working on three years ago was called
"Star Wars Resurrection: The New Empire". I was trying to
start a duology about the empire being reborn, and about
a Jedi of the Chiss (Thrawn's) species called Sullus Vain.
I have made over 30 unfinished Star Wars novels. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
I'm hoping to one day be a Star Wars writer.
To this day, my room is still covered with posters,
and my wall covered with Star Wars figures.
And I watch the Classic Trilogy and the Prequels
alomst every day style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif

[ start geek rant ]
It all started when my parents took me to see A New Hope when I was one and a wee bit. I'm sure I was more interested in my toes than I was in the movie but nonetheless it was still the beginning and every saga has a beginning
I survived all these years buy buying movie posters, VHS tapes, the occasional toy and the soundtracks of course. Then one day I was bored and joined a Star Wars chatsite called the Cloud City Cantina (http://www.outpost10f.com/ccc) and the rest is history. There were Star Wars geeks abound and they put me to shame with how much knowledge the had about Star Wars.
It's there I learned about the Expanded Universe novels. I got a few out of the library and was immediately hooked! I went to Chapters (a Canadian equivalent to Barnes & Noble) and wiped out there entire Star Wars novel section. The total cost was over $700 by the time I was finished style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif I'm hooked on the movies, I'm hooked on the EU, I'm hooked on Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and I'm hooked on Corellians style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif
At the Cloud City Cantina I worked my way up through the pecking order and have so far been given the title as Jedi Knight and Deputy Sector Commander. This is your equivalent to a Moderator/Admin I'm guessing style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif So on the internet I get to play Jedi and frolic on the happy side of par with my fellow Star Wars geeks. This works great for me because none of my friends or family likes Star Wars. I'm an army of one!
My Star Wars collection by most standards is very modest but I have to admit, I have some cool toys style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/satisfied.gif
Now it's my goal to make a Star Wars website and finally put this Web programming/designer diploma to some good use. If you have any great ideas for content please email me at bluemilk@jedi-council.com

Well Star Wars fandom runs in my family my uncle Mark is the biggest nerd of my family this man can drink beer with a Darth Vader helmet on without a straw u should see it! Well anyways as a child of 5 most children were outside playing baseball and stuff but not me! I spent my earlier years inside watching Star Wars, playing with action figures, the only fresh air i got as a child was every now & then going outside to play SW roleplaying games with my dog portraying Chewbacca I was Han Solo. Well later wen i began paying more attention 2 detail wen watching ESB i noticed Boba Fett. I did'nt know who he was at the time later i found out his name and began buying novels and comics with Boba's face platered all over it. Right now I have a pretty big collection of action figures and every now and then i get nostalgic and go outside to play SW roleplying with my dog. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I am obstructed3ntity which is a name i sort of made up to represent how i sort of lost my identity. The only thing that's really keeping me going at the moment is my undying love for all things Star Wars. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif
Alas, I am too young to have been around when the original star wars trilogy came out. I was 7 when the special edition VHS set came out in 1997 and my dad having been a fan during his youth bought it. He made the mistake of forcing me to sit down and watch those 3 films with him. I didn't want to at the time, but once I'd finished them, i was hooked. From that moment on, I slept, ate, and breathed star wars.
I nearly wore out those tapes from watching them so much. My parents got worried and hid them from me at one point to stop me from popping them back into the VCR. but i found them. At school, i would play role playing games with the boys. never wanting to get in the way but definitely wanting to get into the stories, i became the designated R2-D2.
Time went on and Ep. I and II came out. i was there to watch it on the first day it hit theatres. I just started reading the book series, but of course, i'm wishing i had more money to be able to get the things i want and do the things i want to do. in other words, my budget doesn't allow me to be a proper fanatic. I guess i'll deal though. and to "glenmcg", i certainly wouldn't mind dying while watching Star Wars. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
Ripley the Warmaster
10-04-2004, 11:17 PM
Hi, I'm Sniper Wolf the Warmaster, and I am a Star Wars-aholic. The fandom started back when I was really young, probably two or three. My mother worked at the local library, and I would rent the OT a lot. Around four or five, their copy of Jedi broke. Very sad, because it was my favourite. This was around the time the THX editions, aka the last time the original verisons were released before special, came out. Mom bought them for me. I still have them, and will even keep them when I get the DVDs. Then, in sixth grade, I read Vision of the Future. That started my EU fandom. Read VOTF, Thrawn Trilogy, Shadows, and X-Wing 1,3-4 before I read Vector Prime in seventh grade, which began my belief of Del Rey having superior EU over Bantam. That was three years ago, and the belief is still held very strongly.
About a year or two ago, I had a bit of a falling out. Basically, I was used to SW and Trek-esque sci-fi, and I wanted something new. That's when I read Dune and watched Alien Resurrection. My fandom of those started then, but Alien wasn't my main fandom till last March, when I bought the Quad boxset.
My Star Wars interest has risen up do to internet message boards and a greater apprecitation of all the films. However, while my movie enjoyment had come back, my EU enjoyment suffered. My long perferance of Del Rey over Bantam has reached the point that I only enjoy a few of the Bantam novels. While Star Wars is still not my main fandom, this is probably the best time in which I've been a Star Wars fan.

well, ummmm, this is my first time doing this, and i'm kinda nervous...
my name is JediKaputski, and i've been an obsessed fan since the re-release of the original originals
the thing i remember the most is the scene where luke heads back to the homestead and sees the burning corpses of his aunt and uncle. for some reason this scene is etched into my mind, and i seem to recall seeing it when it was on TV when i was a young boy, before the movies
the re-release. i was a young boy, and i wanted the movies, even though i had no clue as to what they were. my parents ended up getting me the VHS box set, and i was in love. i watched the movies as much as often as i could, and i watched them to the point of being completely obsessed by them, and i couldn't keep my mind off of it.
1997 rolls around, and i remeber seeing the figures in a toys r us around the time of the special editions. i got a couple, and they were xwing luke and han solo. my next figures hold a sad place for me, because i got them shortly before i saw my grandpa alive for the last time. they were chewie and a stormtrooper
anyways, early 1997 was still an amazing time for me, as i got to see ANH and ESB in theatres, and it was so much better than the tapes i had. i fondly remember the commercial too "for years SW fans have only been able to see their favorite movies on the small screen...."
i got the VHS tapes when they came out, and being the ignorant kid i was, i got the fullscreen version. one of the best things i remember aboot the SEs was all the toys. my friends and i used to bring our action fleet vehicles into class and leave them on our desks just to stare at....
once i got old enough to understand novels, i gobbled them up as fast as i could, and i am proud to say i have read all but the most recent two or three, if that
as i grow older, i've come to appreciate the SW movies for more than just simple movies, but stories that helped inspire a nation to be more creative, to push the boundaries, and to find the child in all of us
for me, the prequels meant a new beginning, in some ways. new characters, new adventurs, new everything, but the thing that got to me most was the amazing use of computer animation in the movies. ever since i saw the phantom menace back in may of 1999, i have wanted to be a computer animator and to make things that aren't there appear that they are
star wars is my life, and it has been for such a long time that i could never imagine life without star wars, and though i am sad that episode 3 will probably be the end, it's good to know that star wars had always left me feeling like i could do whatever i can imagine, and it has helped me to choose what i want to do with my life.
I LOVE STAR WARS, AND I'M PROUD TO SAY THAT I WILL NEVER SAY OTHERWISE
EDIT: how could i forget my collection!?!?
over the years, my figures have expanded far beyond my original four. while i'm not a collector, per se, i love getting the figures i want, and i love just holding them in my hands and playing with them
that's right, most of my collection is our of the box. i couldn't deal with them being stuck in the box because i couldn't touch them, to see what they're like, how i could pose them, how i could i just see my favorite characters in 3d
my prized posession is my mint condition r2-d2 cooler which is worth $75, and i got it for $5

I'm Sabre and I'm a Star Wars aholic.
It all started in my early years, when Star Wars was in its heyday. I didn't think much of it then, I just liked it.....
Only in recentmost years have I become addicted....I found out what Luke was really going through during the trilogy (I was naiive and couldn't quite get the hang of it beforehand when I first saw the trilogy). Metaphorically, I relate to Luke in so many ways (the reason I love him).
I've fallen in love with Star Wars. I simply can't deny it anymore. I'm hopelessly addicted!

it all started (to borrow the overused cliche) when i was 5. my dad got the original starwars and showed them all to me. Reel 2/Dialogue 2
10-19-2004, 05:51 AM
Hiyo, boyos and goyos! My name is Reel 2/Dialogue 2 (R2-D2), and I'm a Star Wars-aholic. Full-on, unrepentant, unabashed, relentless, die-hardest... you get the pic.
Have been since I was a youngling. Getting to see A New Hope at the drive-in theater in July, raining like mad, but still having the time of my life. A year later came the toys, but I was too irresponsible those days, and went through 3 Chewbaccas and 4 Lukes (one I tossed out the family car window, thinking he could use the Force to fly). After my parents inexplicably forgave me and let me have another set, I vowed to keep them, thus started my collection. I only got to see Hope and Empire once in the theaters, but Jedi I saved my allowance/school lunch money to see 5 times (would've seen it more, but the parental units refused to drive me to the theater).
Back to how I collected. It was only until a fateful day in January 1981, I RETARDEDLY decided to up and quit, thinking that I'll never collect it all, and start with something simpler, like He-Man (what is it with Eternians?). Five minutes later, I saw the commercial for the Wampa figure, became super-hyped, and I never quit again.
I was the kind of kid who would rush to the TV room anytime Star Wars was mentioned, after the trilogy was over, to find out news of the prequels, only to find out it was Reagan or some pundit talking about his Strategic Defensive Initiative, which he RETARDEDLY called "Star Wars" (for which Lucas sued and lost). This happened AT LEAST 100 times. I never wanted someone dead so bad. Death to Reagan! (wha...? he's already dead? I take full responsibility, heh heh.)
Thanks to HBO and VHS, I've seen each OT movie at least 300 times, and I still stop everything I do to watch them (prequels too, they're up there in the 30s each).
Then came the dark times, in the mid 80s, when Star Wars said "blast it all!" and up and quit on me. Ewoks and Droids spin offs died out, Bantha Tracks ended, the fire was going out in the universe. Then in October 1987, West End Games came through with their roleplaying game, then Tim Zahn and his novels in 1991, then Hasbro restarted the toyline in 1995, then the Special Editions, the Prequels... up to now... no wait, now... no wait.... NOW.
It's pretty safe to say that I own nearly 1/2 of original trilogy merchandise, and 9/10 prequel wares. Unfortunately, that leaves the more expensive stuff out of my reach (replicas, busts, lithos). The only thing I won't collect are autographs.
I dream of animating (traditionally) anything official for Star Wars (or at least winning a Fan Film Award, it looks too kewl!).

Hello, I'm Jedi_of_the_North and I am a Star Wars-aholic
My addiction started when I was probably 9. I resisted the urge to fully give in until I was 12 or so when I bought the starter kit for the much cooler Decipher-made SW:CCG. I do not like that Greedo still shoots first...I believe Jar Jar is the devil.
Since I have become a Star Wars addict I have become hooked on the EU and have lost the respect of my professor at my college because I will sit and read them outside of class. I own letterbox versions of the original trilogy and the special edition, though sadly my Star Wars geek cred has gone down since I have yet to buy the OT on DVD

Hello one and all, I am Billy MidKnight and I am a StarWars-aholic!
Unlike some people, I do remember life before the Great Flanneled One released his epic to the world.
I was 9 years old when my sister took me to see ANH in June, 1977. I sat there in shock and amazement, I BECAME OBSESSED!!!!
I had it all: toys, posters collector stuff from fast food places, LPs, you name it. I saw ANH 268 times in a movie theater, including the last showing of it in the Atlanta, GA area.
Waited in line to see ESB for 4 hours, 7 hours to see ROTJ. I wrote my first Star Wars fan fic in 1982. I belonged to a fan club before there was fan clubs.
I have brought a new generation into the fold, my 2 nephews and some of their friends. I still collect Star Wars toys (and sometimes play with them)
I am 36 years old, and want to be a Jedi Master when I grow up.

Being a bookworm i checked it out. During the 5 yrs I lived near that library I read EVERY SW book they had at least 2x. I then began to want more so I joined the online communities. and then i saw TPM on DVD. it was okay. then I saw AOTC. YAY! and now i anxoiusly await RotS.

Hi, my name is Evo. I am a Star Wars-aholic. I can't remember when my obsession began, it seems to have been with me all my conscious life. I had loads of toys as a kiddie, had all the videos including multiple copies of different versions, and enjoyed the whole aura of the The Wars.
My enthusiasm waned a little when I hit my twenties but after attending the recent CE extravaganza and being invited by my brother to join this most excellent forum the fire of my desire for all things Wars has been reignited and is burning more brightly than ever.
I am not apologetic for my obsession. I defy anybody to tell me that it is unhealthy. Because they would be wrong. I am content and at peace with my obsession. :)
