Dark Forces ends with Katarn destroying the Dark Trooper facility and going off reminding the rebels they can always contact him if they need him. I think, it's been almost 10 years.
They're are two endings to JK depending on whether your on the lightside or dark. If your on the lightside and destroy Jeric then all the trapped Jedi souls in the Valley are released and your dead pop has a chat with you. If your on the darkside you end up killing Jeric, land at some base on an Imperial Shuttle and generally look evil and have a chuckle with that evil Sith lady who's now your sidekick.

Have you ever played the add on to Dark Forces 2 thats about Luck's wife when she was on the dark side.

Yeah, Mysteries of the Sith. You play Mara Jade and have to save Katarn from the dark side. Its just as good as JK1 but doesn't have the actor/CG cutscenes.

I didn't want to start a new topic for this, but I was just playing Jedi Knight 2 again and I used that code that gives you your lightsaber during the early levels. Anyway at the end of the Artus Topside where Desann captures Jan and Kyle goes out save her, there is normally a very brief instant where you can shoot at Desann a couple of times before he throws his saber at you and a cut scene takes over. But this time since I had my saber I activated it and went at him just for fun thinking I would get a cut scene in a couple seconds, but the game let me keep fighting Desann in a duel! Eventually he killed me because I had no force powers, but I'm wondering if its possible to beat him. Does anyone know?
Also Darthy - I've never played any of the Dark Forces games and I know nothing about the story before JKII. Whats the order of the games up to JKII and would you mind catching me up on the general story line or point me to a link with that info? Thanks.

I think I can do just as well, I have played and beaten all the games in the straight continuum.
You cannot kill Dessan, I have tried even with God on, and to no avail.
The order of games would be Dark Forces, Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, (Mysteries of the Sith), Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Dark Forces
You are a mercenary working with your sidekick Jan Ors for the rebel Alliance. You are the agent who steals the plans for the Death Star. Later on, you are sent to investigate and stop the Empire's production of near invincible battle droids: Dark Troopers. Finally, you defeat the droid's mastermind and destroy the production facility, dealing the Empire a severe blow.
Jedi Knight (Kinda Fuzzy On This One)
You are searching in the past for information about your father. Eventually, you end up going up against the Dark Jedi Jeric and his henchmen in a race to the Valley of the Jedi. Of course, you win, and the Valley is kept safe and secret, with only you and Jan Ors who know of it. Alternate ending of killing Jan, killing Jerec, and going evil on everybody's ass.
Jedi Outcast
You are once again a merc, with no Force power, and in the service of the New Republic. You uncover an Imperial operation that is attempting to instill the force in people by force. You begin to recover your Force abilities are end up in a fight to prevent a ressurection of Dark Jedi by the rogue Desaan and his Dark Jedi minions. Finally, you defeat both Desaan's Imperial ally and himself, and save the galaxy!
Jedi Academy
You are a student at the Praxeum, the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. You are sent on missions, and throughout these, you are confronted by Imperials, mercs, and the Cult of Ragnos who worship the dead Sith Lord, Marca (sp?) Ragnos. In the end, you stop Tavion, Desaan's former apprentice and the Cult's master, from ressurecting Ragnos. Alternate ending where you kill your friend who had betrayed you earlier in the game by going to the darkside. You fall to the darkside and perceive him, the Jedi, and the Cult as weak. You kill Tavion, preventing her from ressurecting Ragnos, but you also battle Kyle Katarn, your former master. This has more action, as you are fighting both Jedi and Cultists.

Thanks for summing that up GB! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
I have one more question; in JKII there is a part of the game were Kyle finds the black armor for the shadow troopers and remarks "black armor...not again". Was this armor used in one of the previous games?
Darth Darthy

Yeah, the Dark Troopers wore black armour and were stupidly difficult to kill.
On a side note, I found the first 2 Dark Forces books ona popular P2P program that begins with "K" a while back. I never saw them for sale here in the UK but they were pretty good and gave a lot of background to Katarn and more on how he stole the Death Star plans. Worth a read.

Darth Darthy, that Imperial base at the dark ending of Jedi Knight is infact the Imperial Palace on Coruscant I think. So that ment Kyle could have been Emperor, but had to go the good way. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif

The Empire is intact in Dark Forces II? I was never sure exactly when it was set in reference to the rest of the Star Wars Universe...

I had the same questionnas you so I did the same thing as Greedo Boy, with god mode and all weapons. I couldn't kill him, so I figured it just wouldn't let you kill him. so I spawned in about 50 Lukes, and even they couldn't kill him. So, yeah, you can't.

I don't know why you people are having a hard time killing Desan. I found a lot of the generic reborn jedi way harder than desan. Same with Tavion on Jedi Academy. Rosh and a lot of generic cultists were a lot harder than her.

spawned 50 Lukes that means he made 50 Luke Skywarkers Don't know hoe it's done God mode is where you can't die. If you want to know how this is done PM me because I know people don't like to cheat and I don't want to be blamed if they try it and don't like it.
