Yeah they should splice back in the scene with Dooku w/ two lightsabers vs. Yoda. Sure a Sith wielding a blue lightsaber would look weird, but it'd still be cool. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/giveup.gif

I wanna see the extended Maul/Qui-Gonn scene...
Oh T, why do you taunt us with such riches? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
By the way T - do you know if the Qui-Gonn leap onto the platform was edited together in post? It always looked rubbish to me... Kinda inelegant
Those cut scenes are the best way in the world to kill time at work, gracias...

Not 100% sure but what I'd guess is yes it was. I'm sure that was a stationary ramp or something he jumped on during shooting and they made it look like it was a moving ship later on.

I love this cut stuff - TESB and ROTJ could have been paced very differently had they'd been left in. It's just a shame we won't see them presented on the DVDs like they were on Behind the Magic.

I was always interested in the original script for ROTJ, could have been such a great movie on par with the first two. That sell out style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/censored.gif

Jedi wasn't that much different though. There was the Luke on the Rancor grate, the sand storm scene and Vaders chocking scenes. I'm not sure why they would cut footage from an action scene like the Rancor Pit though, unless they couldn't figure out the logistics of Luke dropping in the eye of a superimposed puppet.

Whoa, fantastic stuff you have there, boss. I just watched something I've yearned to see for 27 years, the whole Biggs and Luke scene on Tatooine. I do wish that had been put back into the special editions. It added a lot of strength to the characters, IMO.

hm... very interesting. but i am still kinda confused...
my sister and i saw star wars episode one in some rundown theater that cost a dollar to get in... (the sound sucked, and my neck had the biggest cramp, but...) we remember two scenes that aren't on the dvd... and right now i'm looking on your site, and i haven't found it yet... maybe i will, but...
i remember a scene with jar jar in that room with all the droids on the queen's ship, and after he says hello to them, and after obi-wan says DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING, he goes to some red astromech droid, and pulls off the droid's head, and all these wires are coming apart and sparking and he's like OH NO, and the jar jar music is playing in teh background, and then r2 runs into him and beeps at him to move.
also...
i remember in the jedi council room after the council members are testing anakin, anakin says to yoda... "i am not afraid". and the reason i remember this, is because that is exactly what luke says to yoda.
now i seriously do remmeber this, even though it was around 2000 (not right when ep 1 came out), but i have never seen any of these scenes again.
T-bone
05-14-2004, 01:08 PM
I'll try to look those up with i have time at home - whether or not you saw them in a theater I don't know but I know they both exist.
I thought I had them on the site - perhaps combined with another article - but I'll check it out.
Please email me this post in a reminder when you can!
Thanks.

You should know, boss, that my old computer was so lousy that it wasn't easy to open clips, and the sound drive didn't work anyway so I couldn't hear anything. That would be a reason why I had never watched the deleted scenes on your site. Thing is that sequence would need complete fx work to be put in the movie. Plus, according to Pablo Hidalgo in Insider #70 that sequence was really more just a form of "insurance" just in case the duel needed it. Adding the scene back into the fight would require a change to the existing choreography. And the pictures of Dooku with two sabers that are floating around are just set photography with the saber effects added in simply because they're cool images.
At any rate you can still see them filming the sequence in the Puppets to Pixels doc on the AOTC dvd.

Why not? There's plenty of stuff cut from the action scenes in the prequels.

The only thing that would make ROTJ better (IMO) is the destruction of the Falcon.
Is just that after the defeat of the powerful Imperial forces by a bunch of Ewoks....we need a break from malarky.

I am not sure about that. It would drastically change the mood of the film, which is probably what you want, but I think it be better done by increasing the threat of the Death Star. I think seeing Palpatine die in jedi would be a lot more of a relief after seeing him in action in Episode III, but the Death Star Battle doesn't hold my interest like the one in ANH. If they had the Death Star II turn and prepare to fire on the Forest Moon like they did in the novel, it would increase the drama and make the film more enjoyable IMHO.

Good call. It is interesting how these ideas keeping popping up in these movies. In the start of the first Star Wars, Luke is on Tatooine watching the space battle with his macrobinoculars and likely just misses seeing the escape pod. Of course this was cut, so we next have Empire where Luke is on the surface of Hoth watching a glimmer in space with his macrobinoculars. Again, it is something launched from an overhead spacecraft that would force his leaving of that planet. Coincidence? I think not.

Interesting. It's a pity that the scene wasn't finished and included, as I think that ESB had needed some more scenes with Luke training (albeit not long scenes).

That's an interesting question. I thought the whole Lost 20 thing was cool. I would like to see that back in there somewhere. I also think the political stuff from EP3 was good, though it slows the film down. I would also like to see the Anakin scene where he kicks Greedo's little butt back in EP1.

I think that Episode I could probably use the most help. There are a few low budget effects in there, believe it or not, that suck. The one that comes to mind is that guy Gragra from Mos Espa - awful. Some of the dialogue is bad too, maybe some alternate takes? Who knows.
EP2 could benefit as well. I love EP3 but I know there are some issues.

I would hope(special / visual effects wise) for the set , that he would go back to Clones and inhance or upgrade(forgive me , I don't know the terms) A lot of the Genosis battle shots and the troopers to the level that they were in III . . . .
But I rather he fix up the story first / than just the effects . . .
There's a lot of extra scenes that could help the film considerbly . . . .

I'd like to see all the Anakin/Padme scene from AOTC put back in. I've felt this way from the beginning. I expected a love story, but important parts of that love story were cut. I think everything that was filmed concerning that love angle is necessary for a heavier impact of the film.

That Would certain add to the romance and more even out the movie no doubt.

Regardless of Lucas' feelings about the deleted scenes not adding anything to the films, I would like to see them put back in into their original places in each of the films.
I think it would actually add something to the movies to see all the ins and outs. Especially the Biggs scenes and Tosche Station.

I think it might work as some kind of special pet project edition or something but i don't think that's how the films should be. Things are usually deleted for a reason.

My own $0.02 is: I think the films work well enough without them, and often less is more. Adding them back in might work as a "cool for the fans" sort of thing, but in terms of the films I think it would disrupt the pacing somewhat, like the Luke/Biggs/Red Leader scene in the rebel hangar in the ANH SE did.

I'd really enjoy seeing all the romance and Family scenes put back into A.O.T.C. / I'm guess I'm just a sappy sucker that way . . . .
And 'The Droid Control Ship' seq. would be a fun edition to the battle. . .

I'm all for that Droid Control Ship Shutdown stuff. It would really help explain how those few Jedi wiped out that mass of droids. They used that in TPM so maybe Lucas felt it was a redux but he's reused things a million times already. Half of ROTJ is ANH redone, right? :)

As long as it works . . .
It's all good to me. There's also a lot of Extra clone war shots that are pretty cool . . . .

This isn't a deleted scene pur'sa . . .
But I always hoped that he might go back to Clones and redue the dream scene to make it more like Episode III / where we see Shimi . . .
Surely he has footage to make that possible?

i'm pretty positive that was a promo from vanity fair.
i think they should have added the senate scenes with mon mothma, padme, bail organa, etc. it would have been a nice tie-in to show the rebellion starting to form and also that padme and organa were closer which is more of a reason for him to be leia's adopted father.

I really liked those too. Much like the family scenes in A.O.T.C. George said that he regreted somewhat taking out those scenes , so i'm sure will probally see those next yr. in the film.

hahha, I bet he did... xD although we don't have any confirmation bout that... anyway, it would have been a REALLY interesting scene to see; the only way we can watch a Jedi build a sabre is in the Clone Wars cartoon =D

I rewatched the ROTS deleted scenes on the bonus disc, and I can't help but thinking that the first scene which focused on the senators, "A Stirring in the Senate", should've stayed in the movie. It wouldn't have interrupted the flow of the movie and it would've showed the audience a bit more about the opposition in general and characters such as Mon Mothma and Bail Organa in general. The audience would also the sentiments which Padmé expresses in the veranda scene (the one where she asks Anakin if he had ever considered if they were on the wrong side) better. The other two scenes are unnecessary in my opinion (although McDiarmid does a tremendous job in the third scene).

An update over at the Q&A includes some interesting tidbits about a scene which was filmed but cut from ROTJ (one that I really hope will surface). Click the link Who is in command of the second Death Star? in the What's new section (http://starwars.com/whatsnew/) (unfortunately it wasn't possible to link to it).

These scenes would be very interesting to see. The 'Destruction of Endor' sub-plot also would have had the 1138 reference it that is sort of absent from Jedi. If you want to read more of these cut scenes, see my *shameless plug* reconstructed shooting script on the Starkiller site.
