Solo

Global warming my dear friends, global warming. Our good old world is giving signals of destruction. In the past we used to have four seasons in my country and december was usually around 5 - 10º C. Now we have a warmer december, but we see -4º in January and spring does not arrive until the end of March or middle of April. It even snows for the last few years. The last snow I saw before them was 22 years ago when I was only 7. Climates are shifting. I wonder what we will do after the warming ends and cooling starts.

We're in Paris airport now and it SUCKS! We had to walk like 2 miles to our terminal just to find out that every tax-free shop is closed. Grreat. Now we have to spend like 2.5 hours before boarding, only to wait another 13 hours in the plane to Argentina. The best part is that this is a smoke-free zone and i'm exploding here. Wow, you weren't kidding, Magnus. What a great Bond flick and especially that ending. This is one i'll be watching again.
Yes, the movie feels very "genuine" and the ending is quite moving. I'm glad you liked it!

Talking about Bond, we saw Casino Royale the other day... Quite different from any other Bond i've seen. But Daniel Craig was by far the best choice as the new Bond. I couldn't imagine Moore or Brosnan in this one...

And now i want to see ''Never Say Never Again''... ;)

I haven't seen Casino Royale yet and I own Never Say Never Again but have yet to watch it so i'm looking forward to both.

Male chauvinist! :D Seriously, I'm afraid that it's a stereotype (together with other stereotypes that Swedes are all blond, blue-eyed and promiscuous). There aren't any more beautiful women here than anywhere else (although beauty comes from the inside...). Of course, that isn't saying that there are plenty, no, a multitude of attractive women...:ohhlala: You're more than welcome to come and visit Sweden (btw, you're British, right?). On a side note, there are plenty of people from other cultures who have immigrated or fled to Sweden, so we aren't quite as homogeneous as we used to be.

Jedi Master Harrison
01-16-2007, 03:20 PM
Man, I hope appreciating beautiful women (I agree beauty does radiate from the inside, but it is also on the outside, as well as being in the eye of the beholder ) isn't chauvanistic otherwise I'm the worst pig of them all!

I was half expecting that answer, I thought it was just a stereotpye as a couple of my mates have visited Sweden and said it is pretty much the same as any other country in terms of women, their hair colour and how they look. So I guess that agrees with your comment regarding homogeneity.

Myself, I like women that are naturally pretty and so don't need much make up. I've been to maybe 10 countries in the World (not a lot I know) and I think so far the Polish girls are the most beautiful, they just all look like really nice girls and are very natural and dress nicely but more conservatively than English girls. Maybe I'm just getting old though. :)

You are correct, I am English and I hope I will get to come to Sweden one day. From what I have heard it is a great country to either visit or live in. Though the suicide rate during the long dark winter is a bit daunting!

I hate to point it out, but that's another myth.:P Sweden ranks pretty far down in the suicide table and even though some people are a little more depressed in the winter, the mood usually swings in spring. And the winter isn't as long as one might think. Sweden is a large country (by area). Up in the northern parts of the country (which isn't very populated) which lies inside the polar circle, there's polar night for a few weeks time (when the sun stay below the horizon), but here in the Stockholm area, the shortest day when the sun is above the horizon is about six hours long. Further south it's about an hour longer.

So it appears. I was sure that I had seen stats to prove it, but they must have been loaded as I have just googled it and considering 100 countires worldwide; Sweden was 29th, Australia 32nd, USA 45th, UK 59th. The rate is unbelievably high in the Russian (inc. ex-USSR) states. Plus many more males seem to commit suicide than females, how bizarre. Anyway, this has depressed me so much I'm off to top myself. :nahnah: :bye:

Aha! Now I have evidence to use against other Senators that the Aussies don't all like cricket! :sly:

When the bowler has bowled the ball and he and/or his teammates think there is a reason why the batsmen may be out (be it LBW, catch after a flick off bat/part of the batsmens body etc.) they will all cry 'Howzat?' asking the umpire whether the batsmen is out. It is basically to put as much pressure on the umpire as possible, the louder the cry, the more players that do it, the more likely it is that the umpire will give it out, within reason.

I'm afraid after being 2-0 up Australia capitulated and lost the Ashes 3-2. Oh, no, sorry, that was a dream I had. OK already! You won, just. Sneaked a 5-0 victory. But ha! You don't appreciate it which is good! :nahnah:
