Trel worked his sweaty hands nervously as he stood outside Reli's closed door. He had sat in his room for about two and a half hours after Egrog left him thinking about what to say, how to say it, and how to play it cool. his nerves were telling him he wasn't going to be playing it all that cool.
He knocked. The door opened and Reli's brown eyes seemed to brighten when she saw him. Trel swore her eyes changed color, and now he couldn't think of anything else to say. "Umm, do your eyes change color?" What?
She smiled and laughed. "Interesting question. No, they don't naturally, i wear color contacts."
"Oh," Trel said and paused at a loss for words, "okay."
Reli waited for an uncomfortable moment before saying, "So...you wanna come in?"
"Sure," Trel said, finally slightly more sure about something. He entered the room and took a seat, sudenly forgetting everything he had thought about in the last few hours. "So..." He trailed off.
"Yeah, so..." Reli sat across from him and looked him in the eye. "Any other small talk you need to get out of the way?"
"Ah, ha, umm, ha," he chuckled nervously a bit. "Look," he started and then took off, "I'm really sorry i acted like a jerk, its just been really stressful, this war, and it seems like im the odd ball out in this group, i mean even the newbie is Force sensitive! And, of course, Egrog has got Jaina, and I dont know, i just dont know what to do, I feel all alone, but I dont wanna make a commitment of any kind, you know, cause, i mean this is a war, i could die at any time, i dont want to have that on my conscience in the cockpit of my X-Wing, though i dont wanna have a hang over on my conscience either, which has been the theme of late, but anywayz, umm, i just dont know, ya know?" He sudenly found himself out of breath and out of words. He paused and looked at her with a confused hopeful look on his face, hoping she had at least understood his babble.
She had. "Yeah, I understand." Reli smiled. "Look, maybe i tried to move things too fast."
"No, dont blame youse..."
"shut up." Trel obeyed. "I know what you mean, and i think we could just be friends, and see what happens."
That sounded like a good idea. "Sounds like a good idea," Trel confirmed.
"Yeah, so, what do you say," she said as she stood and offered her hand for a shake.
Trel took her hand and shook it. "Sounds like a deal." He then wrapped her in his arms for a hug that seemed long overdue. "Thanks alot, for this."
"Hey," she comforted, "What are friends for?"
"Well," he said, breaking the embrace, "I think I'm gonna get back with the squad."
"Sounds good," she led him to the door. "I just did a tune up on your ship, by the way. Its ready to go."
"What dont you do?"

Leto smiled at Jade, "Nothing is wrong, and what I have to discuss can wait until our return," Leto emphasized, "Right now we have to think about our mission to the capital."

"By the way, what's been happening while I was gone," Leto asked to nobody in particular, "a deck hand told me that Alys was locked up for striking a superior ?"

Jaina smiled. " Yeah she did. Major Jael grabbed her wrist and and called her cheat as she grabbed for her winnings. She told him to let go and he didn't so she punched him. Leet sent word to a couple of good lawyers and we are waiting for a responce from one of them. You know what and I believe her, too. So, Col. Solo sent her back to her quarters and I got her out today. I am going to keep her out til we get it figured out." she said smiling, " I think she fits right on in with the Twins and Knights."

"Just be sure you stay sharp and we'll get ou through this all in one piece," Leto added.

Jaina finished her last minutes check on the B-Wing. She looks around and everyone was doing the same thing. She looked at Egrog and smiled as he contiued checking his X-Wing.She thought,I hope nothing to bad happens out there. Her feelings for Egrog was making this really hard for her. Her wingmates, she feared for to but her eyes stayed at Egrog. and she stood there looking lost and felt lost, too. Watching all of them checking there X-Wings and smiling and talking amongst each other. She smiles watching all of them as she leans on her B-wing, watching them all before the mission, if anything was to happen to her she would want to saver this moment as she smiled at the thought. This how her team, her family was and she wouldn't let it change for anything just as long as they all survived, that is what would make her happy.

She looked around the hanger bay at everyone and then looked at Egrog. " I guess so. I was just watching everyone and was thinking what if something bad was to happen as they ususally do for us." she pauses for a second and takes a deep breath. " I can't stop the feeling that something is going to happen. Then maybe I guess I am just nervous or scered." she says as her voice cracks a little as she looks at him.

" I know.....your right." she says. " I have no reason to be afraid. I am not afraid of death. I am afraid of death with one of you guys." as she hugged him tighter she wispers, " espically you and then she looked at him. She straightened up and tried her best to hold back her feelings. Which in her mind she knew she couldn't him.

" We have the people in our squads and yes, we all have been trained very well. I agree with that very much. But why does this feel like this mission is so much more different than all the others?"

i don't know, but i agree with you, there's a different feel to this mission, and i think it's because of the fact that we no longer own coruscant, the center of our galaxy, and we don't have it anymore...

*looking down at jaina* don't get me wrong, i'm incredibly nervous about you going out there, i don't know if that was obvious, but i....just don't like it...i've said it before, i wish it was me going out instead of you....you're too important to everyone else to have something mess up....*he stops for a minute, trying to keep it together*

" I know you do, I knew when we first heard that i was flying unarmed." she smiles," Good thing that Dake rigged me up a few things for defense. That takes a little worry off of me." She looks around the hanger as she continues talking to him.

" Dake is still trying to get close to Alys. And she keeps standing her ground with him. Leet and Zhadar are over there together, as usual making sure they are all set as they always do. Trel and Leto are talking about who knows what and checking their wings, too. Look at all of them...." she says turning back to Egrog. " In my eyes you all are the best thing that has come in to my life." as she wraps her arms around him.

I will work on that before the mission starts which is in a few hours." she walks to a chair and sits down and Egrog by her. " You know I am going to take a little nap here before we leave." she says looking at him. " Well, I can try to and see if that helps."

Trel sat at the bar, staring down a bottle of Corellian Whiskey. Reli was watching intently with vibrant green eyes to his left. "I can do this," he assured himself, with little assurance.
Reli rubbed his left shoulder. "comon, Trel, you can do it. You can pass up the free drink."
The bartender, whom Trel had gotten to know quite well, had given Trel a free Whiskey as soon as he walked in the door. Trel didn't have time to refuse, because the large human was particularly busy at the time. So, there he was, staring down one of the few free drinks he'd ever been given, trying not to drink it. "but, if i don't drink it, it'll be a waste!"
"Trel," Reli scolded, "you can't drink it. You have a problem."
"I KNOW! But, you can't waste free stuff, especially when we are at war! Its bad for the economy!"
"TREL!" Reli slapped his hand that had slowly been migrating towards the bottle. "Don't make excuses. You're acting as immature as George."
"Yeah, so?" Then something struck the Corellian. "George! I have an idea!"

"No, you are going with me" he says to R7

I have got to show my squadron member my R-wing soon *he thinks as he climbs in the cockpit* Hmmm, i think i might spend tonight in here, go through everything, try to get that thought out of my head about the Vong's attack on my old ship "Brother, they will pay for what they did" Dake says out loud looking up at the sky.

*He then falls asleep in the ****-pit*

The next morning, Leet went down to the hanger bay; wishing the mission was over. Seeing the B-Wing, Leet went over and looked at it. Seeing a another fighter, Leet went over only to find Dake asleep in the cockpit.

Leto and Squeak began their pre-flight early to avoid the noise.

He saw Leet inspecting the R-Wing and went over to see what had caught his intrest.

"Major, " Leto greeted him, "Eyeing the new fighter huh?"

"Can't say I'm all that impressed," Leto said, "Though I'm kinda biased, I still miss my old freighter."

Alys did a systems check for the umpteenth time. On edge and waiting for the go command, Alys decided to get out of the cockpit.

Wandering over to the RWing, Alys studied then noticed that Leet was there.

"Hello, sir."

She glanced into the cockpit.

"Should we wake sleeping bueaty?"

"Don't worry about him, I think he'll wake sooner or later," Leto said, "I find the sound of two sqads of X-Wings lifting off to be quite stirring."

Leto escorts Alys to the Mess hall, "We can only hope the Caff on Hapan ships is more drinkable than on the Ralroost," Leto mentioned out of hand, "Personally, I don't believe the Bothans even drink Caff."

He orders two cups and inhales deeply of his own cup, "It seems promissing," he says as he hands the other to Alys.

"Good shot by the way," Leto congradulated her, "I happened to see Major Jael in the hall, it looks like he went toe to toe with a wookie."

Leto looked at Alys to make sure he wasn't making her uneasy.

Leet felt his X-Wing lift off, the thrum of the repulsorlifts loud in his ears. Engaging his engines he left the bay - and waited for the squadrons to form up.

Jaina does her pre-flight check up and all is good to go. She lifted the wing and flew out of the hanger bay behind Egrog. " Knight 1 out and ready. Do you read me Knight 2 and Twin Suns 6?" she says as she looked over at their X-Wings.

And Captain Soontir Solo landed his Chiss Clawcraft in the hangar, back after having been away for awhile due to disciplinary actions. He walked over to the Deck Officer

"Excuse me Lieutenant, can you tell me if Twin Suns squadron is here at the moment? Or off on a mission. I am reporting for duty."

"There gone for the moment at least." says the Deck Officer

"Very well."

With that Soontir walks off wondering how he is to approach the Twin Suns on there return after having been away for so long.

"I am transmitting all the data we have. Coruscant has fallen. NRI and Starfighter command has given Knight squadron, under Lt. Col. Jade the mission of flying an unarmed recon B-Wing in to see what's going on. The rest of the Knight's are flying close support.

The Twins are tasked with creating a disturbance, and trying to distract the Vong. Yes its, umh, dangerous, we have no idea of strength or Vong dispositions. We should only be on station 15 minutes or so.

Gen. Lowbacca is now in charge of a short wing, comprised of Twin Suns and Knight squadrons. The General is technically in charge of Twins, I am XO. Lt. Col. Jade heads the Knights, Leto was made Major and XO.

Any questions?"

Jade's B-Wing in all tactical maneuvers."

Squeak whistled and chirpped.

"Yes it's going to be very messy," Leto replied and was met with another series of beeps and tweets, "Keep talking like that and I'll have your communication subroutine removed."

Jaina walked in the medical room where the General was at. " How are you feeling?" she asks as she she came with a little smile.

" Back already?" he says.
" Yes, and the mission was a sucess. I got some life readings but no communication. We are waiting for the scanning results, right now." she answers back. " Soontir has been assigned back with the Twin Suns." she says as she had a little Ewok jump on her.

" George, how are you doing?" she says smiling at him. " Egrog will come and see you soon, he is just a little busy now." she says as she smiles at the little Ewok.
Geroge kept on jumping on Jaina and she put him in the chair with her but behind her. George starts messing with her hair calmed down a bit.

" When are you getting out?" Jaina asks.
" When they come in here and and give me the all clear." he says.
" Good, to hear that, sir. I will inform you when I get word from the results. Rest up and get out." she says as she looked at George.
"You ready to get something to eat?" she says to George. He responsed excitedly as they start heading towards the Mess Hall. George takes off running in hallway. She smiles and hollers " George, get back here." He starts running faster when he didn't listen to her and she took off in a running after him. " Excuse me Ewok on the loose. George get back here." she says running behind him. George running as fast as he could when he got excited with Jaina chasing after him.

"He's a Chiss liason, who's chain of command starts in Chiss space,"Leto said strolling up behind them, heading likewise to the Mess.

Turning to Trel he started to re-iterate the story of the security leak, and the fact that Soontir disobeyed a communications blackout in order to send a message to Chiss High Command.

"After that he resigned his Twin Suns commision and returned home," Leto concluded, "It looks like that may have been outside of his authority, the Chiss are pretty tight about regs."

Leto tried to curb the conversation not wanting a debate of Soontir's character, "I don't know about any of you, but after seeing what the vong did back there, I'm gonna need a drink that burns back to when Coruscant had trees."

The last Twin back in the hanger, Leet was glad the mission was over. But he didn't know what to think of Soontir's return. Part of him was glad, Soontir was a crack pilot and had saved his life; the other part was leery given the circumstances of his leaving.

As Soontir came up to him, Leet nodded. He began: "Well Soontir its good to see you again, however I am a bit surprised. What brings you back?"

As the Knight squadron walked through the hallway of The Pride of Hapes going to the Mess Hall. The entered and Jaina lead the way to get her something to eat. They all grabbed a tray and found a table that had nobody on it and they sat down.

Jaina looked at Leto." A part of me is glad to see him but the other isn't. I still remeber the day I went to try to help and he still went on about how the Chiss are and I had leave him in his cell. I still feel bad for that but he wasn't going to try to coorpate so I had to leave him. Which is not one of my favorite things. Regaurdless Soontir and I didn't get along to well, in my views but I did try to help him and he made his chioce. That was the hardest thing for me to was turn my back to him and walk away. Soontir is a great pilot. I am still surprised to see him back." Jaina says sadly.

One, since the fall of Coruscant communications are being bounced off of numerous relay stations before being rebroadcast to their destination. This is to minimize the risk of either a fleet or the New Republic capital from being betrayed. As such, diplomatic and Intelligence communications are being limited to five minutes a day.

Two, we are not allowed to mention the new capital by name. Silly, since half of the galaxy knows, but NRI says not to.

The Ewok wraps around Soontir's legs. Soontir looks at Egrog

"So you finally got one........."

Soontir picks up the Ewok and holds him at arms length, he walks over to Egrog

"Please take your pet Lt. Commander. I have no time for pets or games, there is a war to think about. Now if you all will excuse me I haven't had a good nights sleep in awhile."

Soontir salutes and walks off, looking a little angry at the thought of an Ewok being around to distract people from what truely mattered........defeating the Yuuzghan Vong.
