I was very happy when I couldn't guess who Holiday was; it was a great mystery!

I felt stupid for not figuring it out! Something about Alberto's "death" didn't sit right when it happened, but I eventually forgot all about it. Then the reveal occurs and I'm thinking, "D'oh! Of course it was him!". What a maroon I am sometimes.
Raganork8

Nah; I think it was cleverly hidden; I'd never think of you as a maroon...cept some of the stuff I read in the Sex and the city thread
But I like that there were a few Holidays it was all very clever

Yeah, we had Alberto, Harvey's wife Gilda, and maybe even Harvey himself, right?

Yeah I count Harvey too. Maroni and his own assistant should def count as Holiday Hits as well.
The Scarring scene made me feel Harvey was justified in every way.

BRUCE WAYNE MOVES INTO "MAMMOTH" PENTHOUSE APARTMENT
http://gothamcablenews.com/images/articles/bruce_wayne_small.jpg
Where does the richest man in Gotham move when his house burns down? For Bruce Wayne, the answer was easy - find the priciest luxury tower in town and buy the entire top two floors.
With seven bedrooms, six baths, marble flown in from Italian rockyards, two ballrooms, and panoramic city views, Wayne's new residence represents the ultimate in city living.
Wayne Industries is using the apartment to test out radical new technologies for home use. It's a "digital home" where your every whim - from music to lighting to video and games -- can be granted via fingertip access points.
Wayne gutted the interior and invested millions in a renovation. And today was the move-in date.
Curiosity seekers and photographers jostled for a view as Bruce Wayne moved his belongings - thinned out from the fire -- into the penthouse suite at Gotham Century Towers.
But not everybody is bowled over by the tower's most high-profile resident.
Things got off to a bad start for one of Wayne's new neighbors, Clarissa Dolls. when she returned home after a spa treatment to find that Wayne's movers had limited access to all three of the building's elevators.
"This is against building regulations. Only one elevator is supposed to be used for moving in and out."
But her husband, Federico, was more worried about the potential noisy parties that might be thrown by the notorious hedonist.
"I don't like noise. He better be careful, because I have no trouble calling the police," said Alfonse. Other residents expressed concerns about the unwanted scrutiny that Wayne might bring to their posh surroundings.
Not all tenants are displeased by having a celebrity neighbor. "Bruce Wayne is the hottest thing around. Can you believe he's living here?" gushed 16-year-old Monica Ferrell. "Could he be any cuter?"

HARVEY DENT: CAN THE "WHITE KNIGHT OF GOTHAM" WIN?
http://gothamcablenews.com/images/articles/harvey_dent_small.jpg
As Gotham readies to vote in one of the most bitterly-contested elections in city history, can Harvey Dent really win? He hasn't been trailing in the polls for over a month. But even his most fervent supporters aren't certain of his chances.
"We've always been the underdog," said volunteer coordinator Ace DiBella. "We've taken on City Hall, organized crime, and everybody in the press who said we couldn't do it. So do I believe the poll numbers saying we're winning? Not a chance."
Even political experts in Gotham are suspicious of recent tracking polls showing Dent leading his primary rival Roger Garcetti by over 15 points.
"Roger Garcetti is a trusted name in Gotham politics," said longtime Gotham pol Sidney Shinerman. "And Harvey Dent is relatively inexperienced. I think we're moving into a second-thoughts phase, where voters are going to start to wonder if Dent is really up to the job."
What's causing the worry inside the Dent campaign? Many insiders fear legendary Gotham political shenanigans, such as ballot stuffing and improper voter rolls. "I don't believe that the syndicate that controls Gotham City will let us win," said Dent supporter Shane Broadbent of Gainsly. "But I'm going to do my best to prove myself wrong!"
The Dent campaign has also had to suffer through a political "near-death experience" - the hard-hitting, now debunked attack ads mounted by Concerned Citizens for a Better Gotham.
"We've already been crushed once by the political machine," said Gotham citizen Maureen Alton-Spitzen, who was passing out pro-Dent flyers outside of a grocery store in Granton. "Who's to say they won't pull a last-minute trick like that?"
Indeed, at the height of the smear campaign, Dent fundraising collapsed, his poll numbers hit the floor, and the campaign headquarters was closed due to lack of funds.
But all that changed on the day Harvey Dent strode into the middle of the hostage scene at Rossi's Deli and traded himself for the young Gotham woman being held captive by "smear cop" Frank Notaro.
Dent was instantly dubbed Gotham's "White Knight" and the incident resuscitated his moribund campaign. Ever since, Harvey Dent's campaign rallies have been mammoth affairs, with thousands of Gotham citizens vying to hear the candidate rail against corruption and crime.
But will all that excitement make a difference come election day? "All that clapping and cheering can't put Harvey Dent in the District Attorney's chair," said media manager Cypes. "The only thing that matters is who goes to the polls and who they vote for."

GARCETTI TRIES TO MAKE CITIZENS FOR BATMAN AN ELECTION ISSUE
http://gothamcablenews.com/images/articles/citizens.jpg
District Attorney Roger Garcetti attempted to revive his lagging campaign by turning the spotlight on a Gotham group charged with illegal vigilante activities.
"I challenge Harvey Dent to denounce and reject Citizens for Batman, an outlaw group which is a breeding ground for the worst type of vigilantism," said Garcetti at a City Hall press conference.
"This illegal group of malcontents and law-breakers must be disbanded," said DA Roger Garcetti. "Citizens for Batman is an outlaw group that is a threat to public safety."
Garcetti's attack on the organization led to a political furor. While many agreed with the District Attorney's criticism of the group, Citizens for Batman claimed that many Gotham citizens support its mission.
Harvey Dent refused to condemn the group, saying that "This intolerable crime wave is forcing many citizens to make terrible choices between doing nothing and doing too much."
It is unclear whether Garcetti's latest gambit will do anything to turn around his dismal poll numbers. But it does raise a question many Gotham observers have been asking.
Is Citizens for Batman a law-abiding group dedicated to supporting Batman and helping Gotham citizens protect themselves?
Or is it an organized gang of outlaws who've moved past support of Batman to aping the avenger's vigilante activities?
The grassroots group sprang up in recent months in response to City Hall's warnings that Batman faces arrest for public vigilantism. Hundreds of Gotham citizens have attended CFB meetings, and many more have attended CFB self-protection training.
The group, however, became known for more than just holding meetings and issuing statements. In the last few weeks, reports of members attempting to arrest people they considered criminals began to concern City Hall.
"We can't have every angry Gotham citizen begin to take the law into their own hands," said Gotham Police spokeswoman Myra Briarhedge. "Gotham City is a city of laws, and everyone must follow them."
In the aftermath of the Gotham Convenient Store melee - where a Citizens For Batman member attempted to arrest a citizen he believed was about to rob the store - official suspicion of the group turned into outright condemnation.
The arrest attempt resulted in the hospitalization of the citizen with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. No charges were filed against the citizen, whose identity has been kept secret. But the Citizens for Batman member who intervened - identified as Josiah Horsian, 19, of Granton - was arrested and charged with attempted manslaughter.
Citizens for Batman claims it is a completely mainstream organization. Brian Douglass, one of the founders of the group, told GCN that the group purged "hardcore elements" that may have been "guilty of caring too much about Gotham citizens."
"We have completely separated ourselves from people that may wrongfully take the law into their own hands," said Douglass. "Citizens for Batman wants only to support Batman and keep Gotham safe, nothing else."

Source: Bat Fan 101, Hutch, ScareJoker101
June 9, 2008
Fans who got a hold of The Dark Knight Verizon cell phones just received two new text messages today from Humanresources@whysoserious.com. The first read:
Clowns, are you ready for some laughs? (y/n)
While the second one said:
You put a smile on my face. Hope you're not superstitious.
Sounds like something will be happening on Friday the 13th (June 13). There are two additional items that relate to this.
First up, you can now vote at GothamElectionBoard.com (http://www.gothamelectionboard.com/default.aspx) until June 12th.
Second, 'Hutch' tells us that Verizon has a phone for The Dark Knight coming out:
I discovered @ Verizon Wireless a new phone coming out from Nokia (the 6205 is the model) entitled The Dark Knight edition. It features the Dark Knight logo on the back, as well as exclusive content inside the phone (including quotes like the Jokers laugh as a TXT Alert, wallpapers, screen savers and the trailer all preloaded in the phone). It launches June 15 online only and as a limited edition.
You can actually see the phone online already here (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/06/09/nokia-6205-the-dark-knight-edition-is-funnier-than-verizon-pro/).
UPDATE #1: GothamCableNews.com (http://gothamcablenews.com/) is now online and says that "Gotham Tonight" with Mike Engel (Anthony Michael Hall) will premiere on Friday as well.
Meanwhile, the Harvey Dent campaign sent out the following:
It’s been an incredible last few weeks. Ever since the vicious smear campaign collapsed and Harvey Dent’s remarkable courage at the hostage crisis at Rossi’s Deli, our campaign has ridden a wave of support I have never seen in all my political life.
Our Headquarters reopened and thousands of volunteers show up here every day, every night, fighting for change. Fundraising has reached incredible heights, with over 100,000 Gotham citizens contributing their hard-earned money in support of Harvey Dent’s vow to take back Gotham.
We’ve expanded our reach, opening branches in neighborhoods that haven’t seen political campaigns take them seriously for decades. And we’ve harnessed the incredible grassroots support by sending volunteers to knock on doors throughout the city. Amazingly, we will achieve our two millionth door knock sometime in between now and Election Day.
Harvey Dent has committed himself to lead the charge to take back our city, face down the criminal and corrupt and restore hope for our future.
Now, we need your help. We need to get out the vote!. And we need you to vote yourself. If you can’t make it to the polls, go to www.gothamelectionboard.com (http://www.gothamelectionboard.com/) and find out how you can vote online. Working together, we will take back Gotham!

The ones that stand out the most:
6. Blood On My Hands (2:16)
10. And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad (2:28)
14. A Dark Knight (16:15)
Though they seem about Joker; I think all three reference Batman's character in the film.

As much as I enjoy both genres. I dont think I will be playing or wanting anything to do with it by all means.
I wonder what the title will be to the third Batman flim will be.
I am betting it will The Shadow Of The Bat.
What do you guys think?
As for the Villians for the third installment will be Two-Face and The Riddler.
Raganork8

Yeah; this idea seems to be one of those "Grasping at Straws" ideas.
If Video Games can "Jump the shark" then I think Midway is beginning to do that. I'm not sure who out there was thinking. "Hey I really want to have Batman beat the crap out of Sub-Zero".
As for the Third film; I wouldn't even speculate at this point; it's been such a long time between BB and TDK that I'm not sure if I'm going to be alive to see a third installment.
The only thing I've is whether "Batman" will return in the title. I've been having this debate with my friend aboput where the series is going. The Breaking apart of the Batman Symbol in TDK seems to suggest that perhaps the "Symbol" or "Idea" of Batman is getting destroyed contrasting what Bruce said in Batman Begins.
Kind of a deterioration From Batman to The Dark Knight to...what? I think Joker and Harvey will challenge his values to the point where others and maybe he himself won't be sure where he stands in the war against crime.
The idea of Justice as Harmony VS. Doing what is necessary without compassion from Batman Begins; might, continue to play out in the series.
In short; will Batman remain Batman or just become another League of Shadows agent?

I'm not sure; I think in the end it may end up alright; but, I'm not convince that Bruce will fail completely at some point.
In the Long Halloween; some of the actions have to be blamed on Bruce/Batman
He KNEW that Harvey could have been doing these things. Harvey was setting himself up (or rather Gilda was setting Harvey up accidentally) but, he never went after him.
On the opposite end of that Harvey had no problem going after Bruce when he suspected Bruce of being Holiday. He did what he had to do; it hurt...sure; but, this is the state of Gotham at stake. In ways Harvey Presented himself in more control that Bruce/Batman at that point.
The Question is when faced with someone like Joker will Batman be able to do the necessary?
If the legal system is just going to ensure that Joker escape again; will Batman have to take more desperate measures? Though it's for the greater good of Gotham; this will rip his character apart.
So thats why I don't have any clue as to what Batman will decide to do in this film
The Tracklisting: "Blood on my Hands" and "A little Push" give me a little glimpse as to what might happen if I'm thinking correctly.

Raganork8
06-12-2008, 11:19 AM
That's a harder question to answer.
we had this discussion a while ago and I'm in the minority of people who think Joker should be killed.
Everyone else seems to think he should be left alive for a performance later on if another director wants to use him. I don't really see why that would happen; but, O.K.
Like I keep saying; I think he's going to die; who kills him is another story. I don't see a point in keeping him alive; even if Heath had not passed away. I love Joker; but, as Nolan has said; he's a force of nature just passing through. If you want him to be absolute I don't think seeing him over and over again will help.
Perhaps an ambiguous Death/Escape like some of the older comics used to pull off?
Some people keep saying that Heath was contracted for 2 films; but, I've not seen any proof of that and I'm not sure how ready Nolan is for making a third film. I know he's expressed he wants to do three; and if he still wants to do a third one; I think he'll start the process again. I might be wrong though; he may want to avoid the Holmes/Gyllenhall thing from happening again as well.
Having Joker recast doesn't seem to be a good idea at the moment; especially with all this buzz about Heath being "terrifying" in the role. Seems like they'd be hard pressed to find someone who could deliver a better or even continuitous performance from TDK to the Third Film.

I was also thinking; Ra's Al Ghul has this wonderful line in Batman Begins about how Bruce's Fears are not outward be inward.
"you fear your own power to do great or terrible things"
I think that fear is still there; lets not forget this is still the same guy who wanted to Shoot Chill. If Joker pushes Bruce too far by attacking people close to him I'm not sure how Batman Will react to that.

Agreed. It's a great moment, but I'm tired of seeing it. I just don't think its necessary to try to lighten the trailers/tv spots. Those moments would be better suited for the movie itself and would play out well if you'd never seen it before.

Yeah, its like The Phantom Menace trailers - the shot of Darth Maul extending the second end - cool shot, but so overplayed prior to the movie that it lost all meaning in the movie itself.

It's not happening. Unless we're talking cameo or something. Goyer was talking Joker and Two-Face when Begins was released, so that's been the plan all along.
I guess its a possibility. They've featured multiple villains in these things. But I don't recall hearing them mention Riddler at all.

Not sure, keep having flashbacks to Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey. But Nolan has done a fairly good job so far, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Nolan has said that he hasn't begun to think too much about the 3rd film; he's been putting all his efforts into TDK; though, he stresses the End of TDK will leave the door wide open for the 3rd film.
I won't jump up for the Riddler simply because as of right now he doesn't fit into the story; after I see TDK I'd be able to make a more educated guess.
Though I still hold my Black Mask theory.

Back when Batman Begins was out, i was talking to a few friends about what villains would fit in line with Nolan's vision of things, and the riddler was the first that came to my mind, not as Jim Careys portrayal, but more akin to the John Doe committed his crimes, and played with the cops in seven.
BTW there was also a rumor that David Tennant had spoken to Nolan regarding a role or cameo as the Riddler

If it doesn't involve the Mob; I'm not sure it'll be anything more than a Cameo.
I'm trying to think who was the villain in Dark Victory.
I'd love to see Black mask; kind of an antithesis to Two-Face; plus he was a mobster and thats fits the "crime epic" way of thinking Nolan has been speaking about.
But who knows; until TDK is seen it's just all pure guessing.

The Dark Knight: The Set Visit!
Source: Scott Chitwood
June 16, 2008
On June 29th, 2007, I got the chance to visit the set of The Dark Knight (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=15813) (TDK) in Chicago for ComingSoon.net and Superhero Hype!. Being a lifelong Batman fan, this was an absolute dream come true for me. After taking the morning to walk around Chicago's beautiful downtown skyscrapers, I met up with the rest of the visiting press and headed by bus to the set. The production was shooting at Chicago's old Post Office. TDK actually took over the entire old building and was shooting many scenes in and around the location. They began filming on April 13, 2007 and would continue shooting through November. The production then moved to London and Hong Kong.
As we arrived at the Post Office, it didn't take long to realize we were on the set of the Batman film. As soon as we drove in the gate, I saw a large sign on the building that read "Gotham Police Department" (View Set Pics (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5942)).
Security was tight on the set and as soon as we got off the bus we were issued badges. The letters "RFK" were on them which stood for "Rory's First Kiss," the cover name for the production. (Not much of a cover considering all the "Gotham" signs all over the place!) Our group was then led through the old Post Office building. We immediately encountered extras dressed as SWAT team members. I joked, "Boy, they really are strict about security!" As we made our way through the maze-like building, we saw signs that read "To Set – Vault". This would make more sense as we arrived at a tent at the back of the building.
As we entered the press tent, several things were immediately apparent. Around the walls were large images of the Batpod, Heath Ledger as the Joker, some new Bat costume production art, and the TDK bat logo. Also in the room was the new Batman suit hanging in a corner. And oddly enough, it took a while to notice one of the most significant items in the room – the new Joker costume. We were able to inspect all of these in great detail.
I first went up to the Batman costume. As you've no doubt seen in the photos, it's a bit different than the previous Batman costume. There's a mesh undersuit with many, many armor pieces glued to it. I looked very closely at the pieces glued to the suit and discovered that some were solid black and some were a bit translucent. You could see the mesh through it. Also notable was the neck. Rather than being big and bulky like the "Begins" costume, it was very thin and made of several pieces. As the costumer would later tell us, they actually had to scale down the Bat mask so it wouldn't look so huge on the smaller neck. Also noteworthy was the bat logo being significantly smaller and split in two pieces. When I asked the costumer about it later, he said there was actually some debate for a time whether to even have the logo or not. Fortunately, they kept it. I also noticed that the Batman cape was significantly darker than the rest of the costume. When I touched it (I couldn't resist), it actually felt like velvet. I then decided to touch Batman's prongs on his gauntlet. They were flexible foam pieces, but they were very tough. We all wondered how Batman got his mask on and off. Later in the day when they dismantled the costume in front of us, I saw them take his cowl off first. The line is basically along his jaw, under his chin, and back around the back of his head. The mesh goes up to the top of his neck, then there's a hood that goes over the top of his head. He's essentially wearing a hoodie under the cowl. (The costume was actually mounted on a casting of Bale's body.) I also got to see what was under the cape. It was laced up in the back and there was no bat butt. (I knew you were wondering.) All in all, the costume looked great, and very functional, in person.
I then moved to the Joker costume. At the time we visited the set, very little had been revealed about the Joker. So I was a bit stunned to see how much the TDK Joker costume looked like a traditional Joker costume. It had a dark purple trench coat and purple pants with stripes. Inside were a dark blue coat and a dark green vest. Underneath that was a blue tie and a blue shirt with hexagons all over it. On the pants was a silver chain, but no pocket watch (possibly part of a weapon?). Also included were dark purple gloves and black shoes. It wasn't over the top, but it was definitively "Joker," too.
In the middle of the room was a video monitor where we got to watch filming that was going on in the main building. Throughout the day and during the interviews we got to see take after take of a scene involving Jim Gordon and Batman. The scene would be shot from one side, then another, then in close up, etc. etc etc. We saw bits and pieces filmed out of order, but I'll piece together the entire scene for you from what we saw. (The dialogue varied slightly in every take and some dialogue couldn't be heard over the TV, so it could be different in the film.)
The scene begins inside a vault at the Gotham National Bank. Obviously, the Joker and his gang have just struck. Detectives are taking photos of a dead Joker goon outside an open vault door. You can see a clown mask lying on the ground next to him. Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Gordon walks in the vault along with Monique Curnen who plays Detective Ramirez. Gordon holds an envelope and a security photo of the Joker. Gordon says, "What's he hiding underneath that makeup?" Suddenly, Batman walks into the vault. Detective Ramirez turns around, surprised. She looks at Gordon then says to the other cops, "Can we get a minute people, please?" She then leaves along with the other cops. Gordon says something and Batman replies, "Him again? Where are the others?"
http://superherohype.com/nextraimages/darkknightset2.jpgGordon: "Just another bunch of small timers."
Batman walks up to a cart with some cash on it. He pulls a small device from his belt and it pops open. It has a blue light and a radiation symbol. Batman waves it over the cash, "Some of the marked bills I gave you." Batman takes the cash bundle and throws it to Gordon who catches it. Gordon replies, "We found the bulk of the dirty cash. My detectives have been making drug buys with it for weeks. This bank was another drop for the mob. This makes five."
Batman: "Time to move in."
Gordon: "We would have to hit all banks simultaneously. SWAT teams, backup…"
Batman says something, and Gordon asks, "What about this Joker guy?"
Batman: "One man or the entire mob? He can wait."
Gordon: "When the new DA gets wind of this, he'll want in."
Batman: "Do you trust him?"
Gordon: "It will be hard to keep him out. He's as stubborn as you."
Gordon looks up from putting evidence in an envelope and sees Batman has disappeared again. He shakes his head and the scene ends.
We were told this scene happens early in the film. It was also worth noting that Christian Bale was wearing the old Batman Begins costume in the scene. This obviously takes place before his big wardrobe change.
As filming continued taking place, we first spoke with Aaron Eckhart. This was his day off, but he graciously came in to work to talk to us. We knew he played Harvey Dent, but he did reveal one big secret to us – he actually turns into Two-Face in The Dark Knight. (This was a major secret at the time we visited the set.) Throughout the day we continued talking with cast and crew as shooting continued on the monitor next to us. As the interviews continued, I would sneak glances at what was happening on the set. What I saw ended up being almost as interesting as some of the stuff said in the interviews.
Between takes people would fiddle with Batman's costume. One time a guy that looked like he was from ZZ Top picked at it, another time it was director Christopher Nolan. Occasionally I'd see Christian Bale cracking up at something that happened on set. It was weird seeing Batman actually smiling. Then, as the scene would start, he'd go completely stone faced again. At another point, he took the radiation device off his belt during a close up… and it broke. Turns out a magnet holding it to the belt needed to be glued back on.
But one of the funniest bloopers we saw unfolding before us involved Batman throwing the stack of money to Gordon. In one take, he'd throw it and Oldman would miss catching it. And it happened again. And again. And again. And again. The only time Oldman caught it was during a close-up when a guy o- set tossed it to him from short range. (Bale later joked it proved he was a bad tosser and Oldman wasn't a bad catcher. Oldman later said Nolan joked that he only caught it in the closeup to ensure that was the only usable take for the scene. A good acting trick, eh?) There were so many misses that both Oldman and Bale started cracking up after each miss. When Oldman finally did catch the money properly in a long shot, he only got about one line in the scene before Bale and Oldman started dying laughing again. Oldman literally laid down laughing on the table. So imagine Batman cracking up and Gordon lying on his side on a cart. That was the surreal scene before me and I was loving it. I hope that makes it on the DVD as a blooper.
After interviewing director Chris Nolan, the cast and crew all went to lunch. This was our opportunity to actually walk through the bank set. We walked through one part of the building and there was an actual vault door. I thought it might be fake, but when I knocked on it, it was definitely steel. It seemed to be part of the original Post Office. We then walked farther into the lobby of the original Post Office which they had converted into the Gotham National Bank (GNB). The set was incredibly detailed. There were deposit slips everywhere that said "Gotham National Bank." I can't tell you how badly I wanted to swipe one for a souvenir. (But I didn't!) There were also GNB signs, loan applications, and even ATM's. At one end of the lobby a fake wall had been destroyed. We were told this was where the Joker's truck had been driven through a wall. There was also some glass at some desks that had been shattered. But a small office in the middle of the lobby showed the most damage. Glass from a window was shattered and was all over the floor, surrounded by Gotham Police crime scene tape.
We walked further into the lobby and found the bank vault set where the earlier scene had taken place. It turns out that some old PO Boxes were doubling for safe deposit boxes in the vault. A fake door and bars had been added to the hallway to make it look like a vault. A drill, Joker goon mask, and crime scene kit set outside the fake vault door. It certainly looked a lot bigger on the monitor we were watching.
http://superherohype.com/nextraimages/darkknightset3.jpgAfter touring the vault set in person, we went to lunch where we joined extras dressed like SWAT team members, police, and civilians. We even saw Gary Oldman's stand-in. After lunch we returned to the press tent for more interviews and to watch more scenes. (Exhaust from nearby trucks made me start wondering if WB was trying to gas us. Maybe my editor had ticked someone off and I was paying the price?) We watched the earlier scene being shot from new angles.
Finally, a new scene was shot. It chronologically took place immediately before Batman's scene with Gordon, but was shot later in the day. In the scene, Gordon enters the bank lobby and surveys the damage done by the Joker and his gang. Police are everywhere taking photos and collecting evidence. As Gordon walks in, Detective Ramirez hands him the security camera photo of Joker. Ramirez says, "He can't resist showing us his face." Gordon replies, "We should put up a big top in City Hall and sell tickets." They then walk off screen towards the vault.
Later, we saw another scene being filmed. In it, Gordon and four SWAT team members tear down a hallway and into an empty bank vault (different from the vault they were shooting in earlier, presumably at a different Gotham bank). Gordon walks in and yells, "Anarchy! It's empty!!" (In other takes he just yelled, "It's empty!!") Gordon looks down on the floor of the vault and sees stacks of money. (To me, they looked like they were laid in a specific pattern – 2 stacks, 3 stacks, 2 stacks, and 3 stacks. We'll see if there's really any significance later.) In frustration, Gordon kicks the stack of money and walks out of the vault.
After watching this scene, we got our chance to talk with Gary Oldman. Oddly enough, he walked in with a huge Dunkin Donuts coffee cup. I don't know why my fellow press and I thought it was odd. Maybe such an accomplished actor is expected to walk around with a more refined coffee? Now if you ever go to a movie set, you realize that much of the time is spent just waiting around. I always wondered who the heck everyone was waiting on. Well, this time it was us. Our WB rep literally stalked Oldman, then pulled him off the set for 10 minutes to talk to us. He went from one scene, into the press tent, then back out again to shoot another scene.
After our final interview of the day, we went outside the Post Office building to watch one more scene being filmed. This time it was out on the open street where fans and passersby could watch. As we walked up, a couple dozen people were on the sidewalk looking across the street at filming. The Post Office had a large sign on it that said "Gotham National Bank." Out front of it were cabs marked "Gotham Cabs," GPD police cars with their lights on, and news vans marked "G11 News" and "GCN." Camera crews and reporters lined the street next to one of the gray unmarked police cars. As police lights flashed, the scene began. Gordon steps out of a car and the press mob him asking questions. "Who killed him?" "Who saved him?" "Lieutenant Gordon!" As cameras flash and microphones are pushed in his face, he makes his way through police tape and through a revolving door into the building. And thus he walks into the scene we saw filming earlier.
As all this went on, fans were taking pictures with their cameras, shooting movies while PA's chided them, and generally geeking out. While the scene shot, real traffic drove by it. One woman, thinking there was a police emergency, rolled down her window and asked the gawkers, "What happened??" It was fun to see.

Hey Mark and Emp,
could you guys get me excited for Gotham Knight? For some reason it just hasn't clicked for me.
I should also add; I literally had a dream about TDK last night; the last time I had a dream about a movie that hadn't been released was ROTS and dear I say it; I think I'm more excited for this.

I think I need in on that, too. I was excited, but after watching those clips...well, not so much anymore.
I probably shouldn't judge too quickly, though. When Timm's involved, the result usually is great.

The clip of whysoserious.com/myhero video offers a clue as to the timeline to the film.
It says "National guard working with GCPD to investigate Joker's threat to Bridges and Tunnels." So I don't know it doesn't give too much away but, that means that Two Face is created during the Joker siege and that clip is probably not the ending scene.

For easier reading, I've broken down the production details into my questions as a moviegoer and the production details that were released. This isn't a Q&A or anything, I just found it easier to read by breaking it up into different "issues."
Enjoy!
WHERE IS BATMAN RESIDING?
Bruce and Alfred have taken up residence in the penthouse because Wayne Manor is still under construction after it was destroyed in a fire. Nolan comments, “At the end of ‘Batman Begins,’ Bruce says he’s going to rebuild Wayne Manor brick by brick. That would take a long time, so it would be pretty unrealistic for him to be already moved back in. And there was also a period in the comic books where Bruce Wayne did live downtown in a penthouse, so we took that as a jumping-off point. We wanted to have him in the city because this is very much a story of a city and we felt it was important to put Bruce in the middle of that.”
THEN WHAT ABOUT THE BATCAVE?
Crowley notes that as long as his home was in the city, Batman needed a new headquarters. “He can’t go to his Batcave, so we came up with the idea of a bunker that ties back to the architectural theme of the penthouse in that it’s vast but very plain. It is essentially a large concrete box where everything comes out of the walls and then goes back. But it still had to be visually interesting. It was all about proportion and perspective, which was actually great fun to do.”
DOES THE FILM ONLY TAKE PLACE IN GOTHAM OR ARE THERE INTERNATIONAL LOCATIONS LIKE IN THE FIRST ONE?
“The Dark Knight” sends Batman to the Far East on a mission to bring down an international financial magnate, who is manipulating Gotham City’s most powerful crime cartels. “I liked the idea of sending Batman someplace more exotic,” says Nolan. “We had done that with Bruce Wayne in the first film, before he became Batman, but I really wanted to show the character of Batman outside the realm of Gotham City. I had been to Hong Kong many years ago at a film festival, and remembered it as a great location. It’s an incredibly visual place, which makes it ideal in cinematic terms.”
SO WHERE DOES THIS FILM PICK UP AFTER THE FIRST ONE?
In “The Dark Knight,” Nolan says he focused more on how Batman’s very existence has changed Gotham City…and not, at least initially, for the better. “At the end of ‘Batman Begins,’ we hinted at the threat of escalation—that in going after the city’s crime cartels and attacking their interests, Batman could provoke an even greater response from the criminal community and now that has come to pass. There are some very negative consequences of his crusade brewing in Gotham City.”
Producer Charles Roven offers that the issue extends beyond Gotham’s resident criminals. “On the one hand, Batman has begun to rid Gotham of the crime and corruption that has plagued the city, but, ironically, the vacuum he created draws in an even more powerful criminal element, who see it as their chance to take over the city.”
HOW DOES BATMAN VIEW HIS ARCH VILLAIN THE JOKER?
“The Joker is somebody without any rules whatsoever,” Bale states. “How do you fight somebody who is bent on destruction, even if it means self-destruction? That’s a formidable foe.” The actor goes on to say that The Joker’s total lack of morality is one of his most potent weapons in his war with Batman because, conversely, “Batman has a very strict moral code for what he will and won’t do, and The Joker can use that to his advantage. Batman still has this huge reserve of anger and pain and knows he could easily go too far, so he must not cross that line. He has to be sure that in chasing a monster, he doesn’t become a monster himself. Chris Nolan has raised interesting ethical questions in this movie about the complications of having power versus aspiring to power.”
WHAT ABOUT NEW CHARACTER HARVEY DENT?
While The Joker wreaks chaos and fear, the crusading District Attorney Harvey Dent is the new face of law and order in Gotham City. “Harvey is a man of the people. He’s an all-American hero in a very different way from Batman,” says Nolan. “So now you have the triumvirate of Batman, Harvey Dent and Lieutenant Gordon—the justice system, the police and a vigilante—forming an alliance to bring down crime. Using Batman gives them an edge over the criminals, but it is still the police who will arrest them, and then they will be tried through the justice system. But what comes up is the question of whether you can bend the rules without breaking them. And that becomes the underlying theme of the story.”
AND THEN THINGS GO SOUR...
The dynamic between the three crime fighters changes abruptly when an unforeseeable turn of events destroys the steadfast DA Harvey Dent and gives rise to the vengeful villain Two-Face. Nolan comments, “The hope that Harvey represents to Gotham City and then the tragedy of what happens to him and his transformation into Two-Face…it’s a remarkable story.”
The director observes, “The Joker is the more flamboyant villain, so he commands attention. But in some ways Harvey Dent/Two Face is the more compelling character because he has such an amazing arc. Our Joker has no arc, per se; he’s just hell-bent throughout. The Joker and Harvey Dent—these are two of the most fascinating characters from the Batman comic books. They have an almost mythic quality and it was exciting to view them through the prism of the world we created.”
WHY HEATH LEDGER FOR THE JOKER?
Heath Ledger plays the role of The Joker, the malevolent clown who is arguably the most recognizable of Batman’s arch-nemeses. In casting the part, Nolan says that the defining quality he was looking for “was fearlessness. I needed a phenomenal actor, but he also had to be someone unafraid of taking on such an iconic role. Heath created something entirely original. It’s stunning, it’s captivating…it’s going to blow people away.”
SO WHERE DID THE JOKER COME FROM?
In “The Dark Knight,” The Joker arrives on the scene without warning and climbs ruthlessly to the top of Gotham City’s criminal food chain. “We never wanted to do an origin story for The Joker in this film, but we wanted to show the rise of The Joker,” Nolan maintains. “In a sense, The Joker is the logical response to Batman, who has instigated this kind of extremity of behavior in Gotham.”
Bale adds, “The Joker wants to break Batman, to prove that everybody has a price and even Batman can be leveraged in such a way that he would compromise his principles. I actually think he’s delighted to find that Batman won’t do that, and it creates for The Joker an even better opponent in this game he’s playing. He’s a fascinating character, and Heath did an extraordinary job with it. I don’t think the movie would have worked as well if we hadn’t had an actor of the caliber of Heath Ledger, who was able to really up the ante, much as The Joker does in Gotham.”
“We wanted The Joker to represent pure, unadulterated evil, in the sense that he has no logical motivation for his actions. That is what we wanted to unleash on the city of Gotham. He is an absolute,” Nolan sums up simply.
WHO IS HARVEY DENT AND WHY AARON ECKHART?
“Harvey has charged himself with tackling organized crime and cleaning up the streets. He is the shining new hope of Gotham City, the ‘White Knight,’ as he is called. He starts out full of optimism and enthusiasm…where he ends up is
somewhere completely different,” he hints. “It’s a great role and I’m a big fan of Chris Nolan’s, so when he approached me about doing the film, it was a no-brainer.” Nolan says that while Eckhart looks every inch the part of the handsome and charismatic DA, his reasons for casting the actor ran deeper. “We were looking for somebody who could embody that All-American charm because you have to invest in him as a very attractive, heroic figure at the beginning of the movie. But he also had to have an edge; he had to suggest this undercurrent of anger and darkness that Harvey Dent needed to have, so where he goes in the story is believable. You can’t present a character like this as simply a heroic figure with no flaws, no dark side. Aaron captured all of those qualities very, very well.”
IS DENT ENVIOUS OF BATMAN?
As the new Gotham City DA, Harvey Dent not only has to contend with a rise in crime, but also with a masked vigilante known as Batman. “It’s an interesting dynamic,” Eckhart remarks, “because Harvey sees Batman fighting crime in a way that he would like to but cannot. Harvey has to stay within the boundaries of the law. He has to do overtly what Batman is doing covertly. He admires Batman’s intentions, even if he can’t publicly support his methods. But what he thinks of Bruce Wayne is quite different. He sees Bruce as nothing more than a playboy about town without any real credibility.”
“Harvey thinks Bruce is a complete upper-class twit,” Nolan affirms. “It would astonish him to find out he is really the man behind the mask.”
SO HOW DOES DENT GO FROM WELL INTENTIONED D.A. TO TWO-FACE?
...that all changes in an instant when a shocking incident transforms the once redoubtable Harvey Dent into the horribly deformed Two-Face, who is now bent on one thing: revenge. “Something terrible happens that alters everything in his life and rage takes over,” says Eckhart. “He takes strength from his grief and his pain and sets out to kill the bad guys…or those he now perceives as the bad guys. He still wants justice, but now he pursues it outside of the law he once lived by. I don’t think of him purely as a villain in the way The Joker is. But at the point that Harvey becomes Two-Face, his outlook is so twisted that he starts to see The Joker as a kindred spirit…and The Joker knows he has Harvey where he wants him. It’s a great scene, and Heath did such a wonderful job. As an actor, it was exciting to work with him. Heath’s performance made this Joker an indelible screen character. He was everything you could want in an arch-villain as infamous as The Joker, and yet he was completely original.”
WHERE IS LEIUTENANT GORDON IN ALL THIS?
In “The Dark Knight,” Lieutenant Gordon is facing mounting pressure from all sides in the wake of the recent escalation of crime, but as a career cop, he knows his first, best option is to follow his gut instincts, which tell him to trust Batman. He understands that Batman now poses some danger to Gotham, but he believes Batman may ultimately be its salvation, especially with the arrival of The Joker. “The police have never encountered anything like The Joker,” says Oldman. “He’s not interested in money or even power, in the usual sense of the word. The Joker is all about chaos; he does what he does for the fun of it. How do you police someone like that?”
Thomas adds that in addition to being tested because of Batman’s efforts and the effect they are having on his city, “Gordon doesn’t entirely trust Harvey Dent yet because there has never been a politician in Gotham City who wasn’t corrupt in some way. He knows something must be done and decides Batman is his best bet because he knows Batman’s intentions and has faith that things will get better in the long run.”
ANYONE ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? THE SCARECROW IS BACK...
The film’s main cast also includes Eric Roberts as Maroni, one of the heads of Gotham City’s crime cartel; Chin Han as Lau, an Asian business mogul, who makes Gotham’s crime syndicate an offer they can’t refuse; Nestor Carbonell as the Mayor of Gotham City; and Anthony Michael Hall as a television news reporter. Cillian Murphy also makes a return cameo appearance as Scarecrow.
FINAL THOUGHTS FROM NOLAN?
Nolan concludes, “For me, Batman has an enduring appeal and endless fascination because he is a relatable character. He is referred to as a superhero, but actually he is a self-invented superhero. And I think the fantasy of a man who, through sheer will and self-discipline, has turned himself into more than just a man, into a heroic figure…that’s just a very compelling myth.”

You're referring to the review I linked? If so, yeah. I hope that's all it is. Because I haven't had any reason to worry up until now, but now he's got the idea into my head that the movie might be too long. I'd hate if the movie rocked for two hours and then jumped into an unnecessary, better-if-left-for-another-movie final segment. That conjures up bad memories of Bad Boys II and the first Hulk.

faboo review- 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up:
While fandom might be nervous that the film has been hyped too hard or it won't deliver what we all hoped it could, I am here to report The Dark Knight is a masterpiece," writes Collider's Steve Weintraub. "And unlike Batman Begins, which had a weak third act, The Dark Knight is flawless beginning to end.
"It's very rare for me to say this, but I have nothing to nitpick. Usually when I see any movie I wish they had done something differently, but The Dark Knight is the comic book movie geeks have waited their entire lives for. It's easily the best Batman movie and it's also one of the best comic book movies to ever hit the screen.
"But calling it a 'comic-book movie' does the film a disservice. It's a great movie, regardless of the fact that Batman is the star.

No kidding. Dude, every new look I get at him...I don't even know what to say. Just adding up all the Ledger moments I've seen from the various trailers/tv spots, and now this clip...it may not even add up to a couple minutes, and yet it represents a better performance than I've seen in entire movies. I can't fathom what's its gonna be like seeing Heath's entire performance across this movie. This movie's gonna friggin' blow my mind.

and continuing with a heads up from someone who saw it:
"Finally, do yourself a favor and try to avoid spoilers. I walked into the theater not knowing anything and I'm so grateful I did. You're so close to seeing the film -- don't learn what happens. And if you have an IMAX theater around you, go see it in IMAX!! All the big actions scenes and the establishing shots are filmed in the large-screen format and they're breathtaking on the big screen. A few of the scenes last night caused the normally-jaded journalist crowd to let out a few gasps."
