I just felt like starting up a thread for all things Fan Club related.
Njoy.

Since I haven't seen another thread discussing it . . .
I kind of like the idea of rolling Hyperspace, the Fan Club and the mag in an all in one Fan Club. Simplifies the billing process at least.

Thank you Jjm and T! I read something really vague about the Fan club and Hyperspace on another board; the yokel didn't provide a link and I had absolutely no clue what it was about. I never go to the OS, so maybe that's my problem style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif
Rolling them both into one? Makes sense, I guess, but ya think they would have thought of this sooner? It's only going to last 1 more year, then there's no more reason for Hyperspace.
Actually, there'll be no more reason for the Fan Club either.

No problem.
However, I agree with Katsu, we shouldn't write off Star Wars after 2005 - especially if the rumored TV series gets off the ground.

Anyone Get New Insider Yet ?

I haven't, but I'm not entirely sure I will be getting it. My subscription is up and I'm not sure if #76 was on the old subscription or not. I just renewed through the new Hyperspace fan club, so hopefully I won't miss #77. Only time will tell.
But if I'm not the only person who hasn't gotten #76 yet, maybe it's just coming late this time. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif

I just got my coupon code to renew my Hyperspace membership. Previously, my account said this:
You are currently a Hyperspace member. Your current subscription will end June 12, 2004.
Now it says this:
You are currently a Hyperspace member. Your current subscription will end March 27, 2278.

Hey I used to be a member..but then ....my money has gone bye bye and I haven't had the time to renew when I actually have money. I know I could use the money for something else more useful for living...like...food.

I just read that Insider subscription is now only for Hyperspace members. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Anyone agree or disagree?

actually i think (and could be wrong) that when you join the fanclub you get the insider and hyperspace membership. so it is a fanclub thing not a hyperspace thing

As a Brit, for the first time ever I was able to get my hands on an Insider magazine which it seems can only be obtained in the UK through the Borders bookshop.
Having waited a number of years to see one "in the flesh" as it were, may I say how disappointed I was with the content of the magazine.
Sorry.

The insider is just crummy. Has been for the past few years. Hyperspace is the shnizzle diggity bomb. Sorry. It sucks that now I have to pay close to 40 bones to get the same service that cost much less last year. BUt as a bonus, I get 6 issues of a magazine I don't want. Maybe it'll be better if it stays at the fan club. Each of its previous changes in publishers marked a visible difference in quality and content.
I totally wanted Hyperspace only and I am a little mad I had to do both. Still, Hyperspace has been a fine purchase.

Yeah, as a Brit having seen Insider I think I am happy to remain an Outsider.

I signed up to Hyperspace when it first came out, and now it has expired. I want to sign back up again, but why do I need to pay 49.99 for the Insider aswell, when I already have a subscription to it.
Is there anyway to sign up for just the $20 like before?
RustyMuffler

Nope. If you want Insider, you either have to sign up for Hyperspace, or grab it off the news stand. WOO HOO!

So if I do sign up now and I already have Insider, it will just add more issues to my subscription?

That is correct. Or, that's how I understood it anyway...

That would be a negative. They've combined the two so in order to get one, you have to get both. See the link I posted above.

When I renewed last year it was right before Hyperspace started, so I wound up paying for the Insider and Hyperspace separately. That way was more expense. This year I renewed right before they made the changes so I only paid for Insider and I still have Hyperspace. I like that they have combined it, but they still should have the option of either/or for the people who don't want both.
I really enjoy Insider mainly for the fiction. By the time you get it most of the news is old. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif I'm only bummed that we get only 6 six issues again. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif Hyperspace is better, though.

OK - I'm going to rename this thread and remove the part about the Insider. I'm going to make a new thread specifically for the all new SW Insider from IDG/Lucasfilm. Take all Insider discussion there now, thanks.
