View Full Version : Possible audio drama with female roles?

I find myself thinking over and over again how many of the audio dramas have very few female based roles. I agree that it's hard to find voice actresses, but the number of females who are interested seem to be growing in strength the days. I'm just wondering if anyone would be interested in an all female audio drama, depicting Star Wars life after or before the end of the first series? Would people want to do the roles? Would people want to listen to an all female cast? It's just a thought that's been running around in my head for awhile.

As much as I'd like to say aSD is another Amidala story it's not exactly that. Sure, Amidala will be a main character in the story, but in this particular case she won't be the central character unlike RoN.

It would be interesting to hear an all-female cast. In RoN, we had an opportunity to have two contrasting females going at it. Raneely was originally supposed to be female, but then John came in...did this voice and well...we changed the gender of the character because we thought he'd do the best job.

Where I'm going with this is, I 'm not many of us guys would be into a "chick flick" as some might call it. Men crave action and adventure...mystery and suspense. Not two women discussing flower arrangements. I'm obviously being being stereotypical here, but you'd really have to make the story interesting with stuff guys typically like.

I'm not talking about some "flower arrangement" for this audio drama. It would be one that everyone can enjoy. A story that will tug at the hearts of everyone listening, something that will make people laugh or wonder about life. Something that can be discussed on a forum. It wouldn't be considered "girly" to go find yourself in the universe would it? To try and find out who you are? To grow and learn from others around you? The audio drama I'm considering might be something similar to the ever famous "Second Strike". I happen to like action, adventure, and mystery myself. I'm sure a lot of other girl would agree with me. The audio drama would not be a "chick-flick" sort of thing. It would be one that everyone could enjoy, and walk away from contemplating the world, or give it a sense of humor that people would enjoy. Women can have just as strong of roles as any man. Just give them a chance.

I happen to like flower arrangements, but that's not the point is it?

Bull. I know several girls who like sci-fi. It's just us guys get into it way too much.

Hey, Josie, I'm a guy. If you make this, I'll listen to it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I would. Heck, that could even draw me back into mixing if it were a short Anthology episode. :-P

LOL I was wondering when this topic would appear on here.

But yes slowly more girl roles are appearing. But you know with these males they try to put girls into the typical roles. I guess that they can't get inside of a girl's head to set the personality. *glares at Nathan* style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I put girls in typical roles? Shista? Nadix? Taleena? Triina?

Only one I can think of as remotely "typical girl" is Kristara, and she's a rape victim.

Ah well, can't please everyone. Next time, I'll do that Shista lesbian story.

I don't really understand the whole deal with all these audio drama things... But they sound fairly interesting. Especially one with lots of female roles! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Females don't like SciFi!?

85% of my FanForce is female, and the majority of SW fans I have met IRL have been women. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I'd be interested in participating in something with more female roles, whether it be as an actor, writer, or whatever. I know I have at least three female roles in the audio drama I am writing now, so women are definatly getting better representation in the Fan Audio community.

M.O - I'd also be interested in helping out with that Shista lesbian story. Rowr. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

Wow, I never really expected to get so many comments on my topic. Whitesaber, I like the picture. It made me smile. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif So, pretty much, people are okay with an all female cast? You guys are so nice to me. I'm new and I already feel special. Thank you so much. I hope I can pull this off, if I can't I'm so very sorry. Please be patient with me, I have a habbit of going off and doing other things, like school work, and work-work. So, if you don't hear from me in quite awhile, I'm not dead I'm just busy. Thanks so much everyone!!
