At last!
Some photos from the International UK Meet-Up of 08!
JMH was so lovely as a host (and what did i do to show my appreciation? Stole his plug adapter! I'm mailing it back, i promise!).
I arrived in England on my birthday, and JMH collected me from the airport, had presents for me, AND made dinner. By the Force, English women must all be completely insane not to have snapped this man up already!
1) JMH cooking.
2) dinner
3) exterior of the carriage museum (free and way more interesting than it sounds)
4-10) cemetery in Maidstone (so i like dead things, ok?)
Darill Cyllem
08-25-2008, 05:04 PM
More adventures!
1) JMH and a new friend. We tried to get him to join the GS, but he said he didn't know how to type. Sad.
2) at the Maidstone Musuem
3) I made dinner. It was enjoyed, even by JMH, who complained bitterly the rest of the week about having to do the washing up. JMH, Oran, and Oran's missus.
4) Oran must be convinced to be visible in photos!
5) DC and JMH on some swings.
6) JMH going for a stroll (with cape)
7-10) Kentish countryside. V. pretty.
Darill Cyllem
08-25-2008, 05:06 PM
Not done yet....
1) a nice bridge
2) JMH and DC near said bridge
3) cows
4) swans
5) funnies
6) and then there were 6... Flo and MK join the party. JMH wears his new t-shirt.
7) MK doesn't like photos either. Humph.
8) Who took this picture?? Seriously.
9) I resorted to sneaky measures to capture Oran's image. This one was taken without his knowledge. Bwahaha! I don't know why he has such objections - he is v. handsome just like his brother.
10) Oran's missus, Oran, MK, JMH, and Flo on a pub patio
Darill Cyllem
08-25-2008, 05:10 PM
Still more....
1) DC, Oran (ducking out of sight), MK, JMH, Flo
9) with DC poking Oran to make sure he's in frame
Clone Wars day!! What fun! Cassus and JB joined us as well.
2) JMH, JB, Flo, and MK
3) Cassus (sorry you're a bit cut off, dear), JMH, Oran's missus, Oran, JB, Flo, MK
4) same crowd, minus Cassus, plus DC
5) i bet you know who's who by now
6) cozy at JMH's house
7) JB and friend. Beer and toys - JB was a happy man that day. Look how cute he is!
8) Awww... a charming photo of Cassus
Darill Cyllem
08-25-2008, 05:17 PM
Drunken (some of us more so than others) revelry .
I also have some video, but must convert the format. Cassus will be glad when I have. Heh heh heh.
1 and 2) the culprits
3) Oran and MK (no longer camera shy)
4) the crew in poor lighting
5) the crew with flash: JMH, Flo, DC, JB, Oran, MK, Cassus
6) snacks
7) Cassus and JMH. Oh, dear.
8) MK and DC - yays!
9) The aftermath.

^No worries at all, Pep....
The point being made was, I think, that chimps (whether manky or not) are not, in the strictest sense of the word, monkeys. They are apes. I try not to worry too much about this distinction... it's like a paleontologist getting all bent out of shape over someone calling Dimetrodon a dinosaur (technically, it's another thing called a pelycosaur).
But I like monkeys, too!

For me (a layperson), I think of humans as monkeys / primates but just a more sophisticated and chimps are the closest cousin we have. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable on what the difference between them is. DC if you would like to pm me and explain the difference I'd appreciate it (just dumb it down as I'm an aussie:wink:). I always willing to learn.
Many people say koala bear but they are no relation to the bear at all. Aussies that know the truth let it go, as koalas are as cuddly as teddy bears (as long as they are drunk from munching on eucalyptus leaves).
Makes mental note not never to use the m word again.
Only kidding, pep! :)
That's ok. Actually I have SW fans tell me I'm not a fan for making mistakes with pronounications or not knowing the specs to ships. So I fear SW fans who may yell at me for a small mistake. Your comment gave memory flashes of these moments.
I'm a fan just not fanatical. I love characters and their development. I realise they are just films, novels (including graphic), pc games and tv shows. For me it's stress relief and sometimes I love it for it to be real and maybe I could visit it.

You know, when I was a child my mother told me that chimpanzees get offended if you call them monkeys. I believed her, and when I was an adult I was at the primate cages at the zoo and I intentionally called a chimp a monkey. I shouted it out to be sure he heard me. He responded with a retort of doo doo he flung at me. Chimps need to lighten up a bit and not take things so seriously. I tell you.

oh yes, for sure.
I never mind going to others' graduations but when my twin boys graduated (the last ones) I was nearly despondent. and their terrific friend who was allowed at the last minute to speak at their graduation said many wonderful things but the one I remember most was: Look at the person the right side of you....now look at the person on your left side. Really look at them, Really talk to them ....because chances are you will never seem them again after tonight.
whoa....I miss my kids' high school years so much. They had fantastic groups of friends - I was the mom who brought treats to sports events (cross country, diving, cheerleading, football and even...wrestling) - I was the mom who picked up the entire team in a beat up old Ford van with no seats in it... I was the one who called the entire marching band members' (nearly 200 strong) parents when they were arriving back from Europe - Marks' final high school event ever. I never realized how sad he was (he was the drum major) until he told me later...he thought he was leaving all the glory behind....and then he was accepted into the Michigan Marching Band where...wow...I can't begin to tell you how magnificent it all was. He was so lucky in the timing - he was there - and so was I and his grandma - in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl in the year Michigan became the National Champions.
There are glory stories for each of my kids in college - and they all went to different colleges - even Mark's identical twin brother - who graduated from WMU.
There's a wonderful world out there. and it doesn't have to be the end of a close friendship. My twin sons' closest friends were another set of identical twins - they didn't go to college, they didn't leave the home town but they're still their best friends - they were all in each others' weddings. At the risk of blasphemy I say, Make It So.

Whoops... double post!
But a friend of mine just sent me this photo of myself from a party on Friday.
Maybe i should ask him to do the photos for our wedding, as i didn't even know he'd taken this photo and I still look nice.....
Glamour Puss - Really nice.
and yes - Skywalker Ranch would be my favorite brand of olive oil but following right behind it is the one I have from Lake Como.
Great younglings pix T. They are transformed in formal clothes but they're primo cute - and you're no ugly duckling yourself. and Mrs T- goes w/o saying.

wedding
In the first and third pics, T, you remind me of someone. I sense something, a face I've not seen since...
I can't think of his name, but you look almost just a little bit like him...
BTW, who got married, Sitting Bull?
EDIT:
Oh right, here he is. I knew I was on to something there. :ok:

Drunken archery?! Oh...that does not sound like a good idea. One way or another, someone's gonna get penetrated.

I didn't hotlink those, did I? You're right about why I couldn't upload them, but I just highlighted and right-clicked and copied the pics and pasted them in my post. Ithought I was copying the image itself, not the url.

Right, I remembered the name after the initialpost. That's how I was able to Google-image his pics. Thanks. :)
