It was a dark and stormy night...alot like this one...and T'bone's SWU on cinescape was shut down, but before it did I was given a link to the Galactic Senate...And then I got a phone call, and the voice on the phone said, "Can you hear me now?"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I looked for other SW sites beside SW.com when AOTC came out, and typed in "Starwars" in a search machine. There I found starwarz.com and voila.......
I lurked here about 2 weeks before I registrated as a senator...
I was told about it by a friend.

February 1999, I'm in a bookstore in Casper WY when I see a copy of SW Insider with something about cutscenes on the cover, so I give it a quick look-see before putting it back. Later that year, after moving to Portland, I found TB'sSWU while looking for "that cut scene guy," and found the link to the Senate on his site.
And the rest, as they say, is infamy. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif

I have never been mentioned in the SW Insider. You probably meant the Sci Fi Worldarticle I wrote or maybe when we were in Newsweek?

Ages ago, I found the site through T'Bone's pre-Fandom.com, pre-Cinescape site. I didn't dig the layout back then very much, so I tended to stick to some old AOL SW boards.
Eventually, when he moved to Fandom and the SWT-G joined up as part of T'Bone's (before getting its own planet on SWz), I was posting on those forums. When he moved to Cinescape and the SWT-G got its own planet, I posted both here and at Cinescape. Now, here, obviously.
I was an early mod on the combined JN/GS boards, but eventually left for the most part and resigned the moderator position. When Fanworks was launched once SWz and JediNet split servers, I ended up coming back to mod just the Fanworks and Fan Film boards.

Went to search engine to find out some things about EPII. Two sites caught my attention, but only one I clicked which was Jedinet.com. Soooo...I went to Jedinet for two months and in June of 2002, I joined GS.
Such a happy little story really.

I had been a constant poster on Jedinet's board for over 3 years. I heard about the mysterious T'Bone, who was friends with the owner of Jedinet, but I never saw his forums though I thought his site kicked ass. Then he and the owner of Jedinet decided to merge their forums into one a couple of weeks before AOTC opened and I was naturalized into the GS. And here I am. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Thanks. and thank you for moving it to another place in this forum. I wasn't too sure where it should go so I just threw it in Entertainment. And I like the new title and subtitle better too.
I think this SW forum has the best layout as compared to the few others I've seen. I hope there won't be any drastic changes made in the near future.

Huh?
I first joined the Jedi Council forums for Jedinet. There I became acquainted with Teek, Bluesaber, Amethyst, and Tark mainly. I was known as Evangelion there, that being one of my favorite animes and the only name I could think at the time I was joining. I disappeared after a year of posting there. During that absence I heard my brother tell me that the board was switched or whatever to the Galactic Senate. I saw him post there some times but took very little interest. At the beginning and somewhat after of the AOTC rumor craze, about a year or so after it came out, I think, that's when I decided to rejoin with a different name.
So far, this site beats the crap out of TF.N LLC and some other message boards.

I'd visited JediNet, and saw the link to the forums, but never tried it out. I visited mostly for the literature section to get the scoop on what new books were coming out. This was years ago; back before 2000 certainly. Then one day in 2002 I read an editorial about Tatooine Ghost and thes SW novel timeline (can't remember who it was by) and I noticed that at the bottom it said we could comment on the article at the Galactic Senate. Well, I certainly had some comments to make so I clicked the link. That was July 2002 (ignore the 15-September 03 in my profile). Been here ever since. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

If so what do you like about them? What are we doing right?
If not, what's wrong and what don't you like? What would you suggest or would like to see?
Middle of the road? Let us know here or in "feedback" too.

Oh Gosh...I joined in December of 99. I can't remember exacly how I found it, but I think it was when BanthaTracks.com was still up and running as a search engine. (It's been down for over a year now) I found T's site when It was still T'bone Fenders SWU, and got the link for the Senate from there. I think he's only had the galacticsenate.com addy for what...2 years now?
I wonder if he still has pics of what the Senate looked like from waaaaay back then.

I was a big fan of T's starwarz.com since, oh 96 or 97. I don't remember when exactly. I tried out tfn's forums back in 00, but they were mostly unhelpful and flipped out when I posted an Episode VI spoiler in a non-spoiler forum. They couldn't have read it, they just saw the word 'spoiler' and freaked. Morons.
Anyway, T-bone and me and a bunch of other folks are on this Cut Scene mailing list (kind of quiet lately) and occasionally T will urge some of us to discuss them topics over here. So here is me.

I am quite happy with the current boards. I believe that the Galactic Senate boasts the highest quality Star Wars community. We have a lot of members, true, but we have also have a lot of qualilty members which really makes the senate shine as a place for intelligent discussion. I also give thanks in advance for the RP section which I happen to enjoy the most. Without the senate I would have never gotten to indulge in reading some high calibur fanfics and RPG's. (one of which I participate in, so I may be biased)
I also think that we possess fair moderators who are not overzealous in their control of the boards which really improves the forums. I believe our moderators are truly looking out for the community as a whole and not for anyone's paritcular interests. I can't say how many times I've seen a growing forum community destroyed by poor management and admins.
My only gripe is that I miss the old forum skin we had prior to the upgrade to the current forums. I miss the old black, blue, and yellow skin. Any chance of that getting a rival? Who do we have to bribe?

You know what? I don't really recall exactly how I found this site. Here's my story anyway. I was at some star wars site and this site was linked from it. The site looked official but I'm not sure. It was too long ago. Anyway, it seemed that this forum was directly being sponsored by them so I clicked. Viola...a really nice discus board. I joined under the name Andriod and posted at least once a day for what seems like forever. Then I moved and was without inet for a while. I came back to an ikonboard!!! I didn't join that one. I came back short while later and this was here. I'm so busy now I only post every so often, but at least I'm still here. I don't think it's the board itself though, it's the people (and aliens and droids and ...) that make it great.

Speaking as a former Mod who sort of got burnt out last fall and winter and had to quit my post, I must say that I never thought I would really find myself back here with any regularity until after the release of EpIII.
I now find myself posting more often nowadays than I had in nearly a year, and that is in large part to the quality of these boards that just kept me coming back slowly and surely. Simply said, this is a damn good board and I could not keep away. Kudos to T-Bone, Blizz, Tovor, and all of the rest of the Admins and Mods who have kept things running smoothly. Of course, it always seems more smooth when you're not a mod, right? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

This is the only board I post on, on any subject... And certainly the most welcoming, friendly and 'grown-up' of any I've come across on my net travels... Not that there's anything wrong with being childlike from time to time...
I like it because the people here are here to debate openly and rigorously and not to boost their egos, insult other people or be people they are not (at least that's the impression I get from the Life forums) they are protective of their own but welcoming to newcomers, and most of all they genuinely love the Star Wars films...
I spend way too much of my work time here, but it becomes addictive doesn't it... the company is excellent.

That's the atmosphere we're trying to promote and keep here. It's not the same as other boards but still pretty cool as far as the people and mods go. That's the vision I had for the boards a while back - a comfy place with little flaming and negativity and mods that aren't breathing down your neck every two seconds about why you posted a new thread when there already is one 18 pages deep and how dare you not look for it first.
Anyhow - I think everyone's doing a good job here, mods and posters alike with the occasional exception but that's going to happen anyhow and it's usually remedied quickly. I hope you all continue to enjoy the boards here and invite others to do the same.
Thanks for making the GS your home.

LOL! I was wondering the same thing. It's even harder when the missus doesn't like Star Wars.

I don't remember how I found this site. I think I was doing a search looking for another board other the tf.net's JC. I used to post there but those people are harsh. So I started looking elsewhere.
I found the Galactic Senate and that was it. I really love this site because people are so much nicer. I don't get to come as often as I would like. Grown up responsibilities get in the way, but I come as often as I can! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
I go on the official site's boards, too, from time to time. They are OK. I wish they would have a e-mail notification of replies because I can never remember which threads I posted in! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

I used to chat on an irc server that had a place called T'Bone's Tavern ... the people that frequented there were all either a little older and/or a little wiser than your normal chat users so I hung around.... after that went away I didn't really get into any forum sites but a guy on my icq list would send me links to threads on his little site called galacticsenate.com from time to time ... so I would read em but didn't get into the posting thing til a few months back ... and now I can't get enough with some of the same and some new people very much like the ones I met back on irc ...

HH: Were you on the Efnet #T'bone's Tavern or the DalNet one? I used to be on the Efnet one ALL the time! I loved that chatroom. Loved being able to have meaningful discussions with people into the wee hours. Even picked up an online RPG game of Star Wars there once or twice. Then the netsplits got bad so I 'temporarily' quit the chatroom and never went back. Soon after I discovered usenet and the alt.fan.wedge board, Spent many wonderful years chatting there until the spammers and such moved in. Then various people started sending me links to message boards all over the web, including the GS style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Well, isn't this part of the profile style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif ? Well, I've visited T'bones's site since it was hosted over at Cinescape. I've been visiting the GS since the end of 2002 (I believe) but I didn't sign on until May 2003. Why did it take me so long? Well, first of all my English. While I consider English natural to me (English is mandatory from second grade here in Sweden, some schools are teaching English from first grade and I started to learn English much sooner than that), I've forgotten much of the grammar. The last English class I had was ten years ago. Dubbing isn't accepted here in Sweden (thankfully) so all programmes and movies etc. are in English (except for programmes or movies aimed towards the smallest children). Spelling isn't a problem though. So, if you see any correctly spelled posts with weird grammar, it could very well be me. Apologizes beforehand. That's reason number one.
The number two reason was that I thought I wouldn't have the time, but it turned out I did.
So, that's how it came to be. I hope I didn't bore any of you to sleep.
