Okay, I've been reading the EU New Jedi Order. As of my starting this thread, I'm about halfway through "Traitor."

It seems as though Jacen Solo is learning some new tricks, like communication with animals. I'm not sure if he's learning to do this through the Force or not, (as I said I'm only halfway through the book, and BTW the books are not the topic of this thread).... but the thought struck me;

What doesn't the Force do that it should?

What powers, be they Light or Dark side, have we yet to see a Jedi or Sith display?

For example; We've yet to see a Jedi levatate himself. They can force lift other Jedi. But I have yet to see a Jedi force lift himself. I want to see a lightsaber battle held several feet off solid ground.

Or how about the ability to physically reconstruct flesh and bone? (Most likely a Dark Side ability...Fleshcrafting, Vampire the Masquerade, anyone?)
But wouldn't it be interesting to see a Force user reconstruct his or her respiratory system so that they could breathe underwater as well as in the air?

So what do you think? What powers would you like to see displayed through the force?

I think Yoda was levitating in AOTC. *But I'm not certain, that could have been some kind of hoovering chair device.

But I do know that he used a good share of Force in his fight with Dooku. *Some kind of flying/jumping thing.

However, I would like to see a Jedi control several light sabers at once with the Force-- preferably Yoda...

Well, since you asked...

I'd like to see Yoda give a knowing look to Obi-Wan (similar to what Obi-Wan gave to Luke in ANH), before being killed by Darth Sidious; thus saving Obi-Wan (or maybe he gets killed as well), Padme, the twins, and maybe even Jar Jar (who definitely has to be saved, IMO).

Years later (maybe depicted at the end of Ep. III, or in the UE of the OT), he rematerializes on Dagobah, and awaits the twins' coming of age (either one of which could become the 'New Hope' ).

If Episode II told me anything, it's that Yoda is pretty darn powerful in the Force. He could come back.

So you're saying you'd like to see a Force-resurrection?

How 'bout the ability to turn anything into something else.

Like turn Jar Jar into a big pile of crap. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Well, that's fairly general don't you think? Besides, considering their abilities to lift, move and push objects, you'd think they'd already be able to transform objects on a molecular level.

Friction can be fun!

As far as Jar Jar goes, that kind of transformation can be done without the force. Just throw him to a Rancor.

That makes it seem so 'involuntary'. Like, "I'm gonna FORCE you to resurrect, even if you don't want to!!" LOL

Anyway, we've already seen Force-dematerialization, and Force-retention-of-consciousness. Maybe it would not really have to be Force-resurrection at all, just Force-rematerialization?

After all, by the time of the OT, Yoda and Obi-Wan have aged considerably, so Yoda may have dematerialized a split-second before he would have otherwise died (i.e. the same way Ben Kenobi may have never really 'died' by the hand of Darth Vader, he just discarded his physical form a split-second before Vader's saber would have cut him in half, but was not powerful enough with the Force, as I contend Yoda was, to regain it), then rematerialized a short while after his apparent 'death'; and whoever killed him (or at least thought they did) would be unaware of his continued existence; hence, if it was the Emperor who 'killed' him (or maybe both of them), he wouldn't think twice (or even once) about looking for him on Dagobah, (or even Tatooine, where a young lad with the Surname Skywalker has been living for the last 20 years.)

I hope that makes sense...

Ha ha! Agent Bond- there's no need! IMO he already is one! * *
Hmmm, it's too bad Jedi can't use the Force to actually fly, although they come pretty close to it with those funky jumps. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I want to see some Force x-ray vision. Or Force heat ray. And Force flying, yeah yeah!

Oh wait, that's Superman.

How about Force mind bullets?

Winston-Sith's last post on Force-Rematerialization, got me thinking;

Wouldn't it be nifty to see Force-Teleportation?

Or better yet, Bi-location; the ability to be in two places at once. I'm sure if he could learn that, it would solve much of Lukes EU problems in the New Jedi Order series. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scatter.gif

And speaking of Re-materialization, what about Force-materialization?

how about, the ability to destroy a planet?

Its all getting very DragonballZ in here now, destroying planets and all. I personally would like to see Force cooking, force beverage preperation and possibly force dressing for those lazy mornings.

Um, iread someplace that actual manipulation of sub atomic matter is a basic requirement for building a decent lightsaber, however the ritual takes weeks(under normal circumstanses) and outside of a ritual setting requires huge amounts of power.
However it would be usefull if one could focus hydrogen atoms(for example) and accelerate them until fusion occurs. Then you could have your very own pet star. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Hmm. Playing with Fission? An interesting concept.

Force beverage prepration? You'd make one helluva bartender that's for sure.
As for Force-dressing for those lazy mornings....I thought that's what our mothers were for?

For that matter I'd like to use the force to strip the wax off a deck. (Anyone not versed in the janitorial arts, I don't expect you to understand. It's a common job for low ranking navy personnel.)

I'm sure you could use the manipulation of sub-atomic particles to do wonders with bathroom scum though. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/satisfied.gif
