Since May 2003, Quantum Realities Productions has released a series of original Star Trek audio dramas under the series title Star Trek: Defiant. Now, the team crosses universes to carry the characters and situations they created for Defiant's Dark Horizon storyline into the Star Wars universe. Now, the heroes of Defiant must find a way back to their own time and universe among the many parallel realities of the multiverse. Will they succeed, or will they be lost in the Star Wars universe forever? Find out in Star Wars: Crossroads, Quantum Realities' first Star Wars / Star Trek: Defiant crossover tale.

The following discussion comment has already been made by Keith Abbott on an earlier thread (just so we can confine discussion here):
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>I listened to the Crossroads last night. And I expected to hear more Star Trek than I actually did. So that's a good thing! Yeah, I'm glad it was more Warsy than Trekkie.
Anyhow, stylistically this audio drama has to be my favorite so far. Mainly because I'm more of a purist when it comes to using only Star Wars music and this audio drama followed that belief entirely.
The story was fine, but there were a few problems that I noticed. Judah had a little popping of his lines going on and a bit of white noise behind them. That depended on whether I listened to them on my audio system speakers or my headphones.
But the worst thing were the levels. Some of the sound effects were nearly impossible to hear over the dialogue. The saber fight being one of the areas I couldn't really hear. If you don't have dialogue, it's a good rule of thumb that you can turn everything else up volume wise. Try and level out all the volumes so that the dialogue isn't being drowned out, but you can understand what's going on. Another way of doing this is by normalizing the audio (or compression as some folks call it). Set the dialogue at -10db, music at -15db and sound effects you shouldn't have to tinker with much, but do level them up so you can hear them when the dialogue is not playing. Just don't put everything red on the meter.
It's best to check your levels on several different audio systems so you know whether or not you can hear everything the way you want it.
I loved the quality of the recording with the exception of the popping on the one character. Even Vader wasn't so bad effect wise.
Acting well, I can well understand how the DIY approach can bring it down a level. No different here. You might want to check around to see if you can find an actor who's willing to direct part 2. Couldn't hurt.
Anyhow, congratulations on a decent showing. I was overall pleasantly surprised.

The following was posted by Heather Haskett in the previous discussion as well:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Only thing I didn't like about "Crossroads" was that it seemed like the actors were too much just reading their lines. They were very monotone to me.
ALSO, I didn't like the 2 minutes of the Star Wars opening... They could have shorten that or put a voice over within the first minute.

Thanks for the feedback people. I always like to know what people are thinking.
As for that two minute opening.
It is my hope (If this goes on) that will make some kind of sense at then of the various plays as to why I left it there. Such as there will be no such opening in episode 2.
Peace

How many episodes are you looking toward in the SW universe? Three like Dark Horizons?

Damn and here I was planning on bringing her into the next part.
Hey Freeman how the life thing going? Its funny, I was listening to Now Way Out again today. When do you guys plan a follow up to that? I really want to hear more about Lawg Skrak. Where can I find the fan fiction on him?
At the moment I'm tinkering with a follow up to Crossroads. I see this story being in the same vein as The Infinites titles Dark Horse has been put out. Safer that way and allows me a bit more freedom in what I can do with the story.
Peace
Eric
