View Full Version : Thyferran Elections!

Alright guys, here is the story. An RP I belong to is having elections for the planet Thyferra. In order to get a neutral perspective I'm going to give the background here, along with three potential candidates, and I'm going to ask you all to vote for your favourite. Whatever you vote will actually effect the RP I belong to, so try and take it somewhat seriously.

Background: Thyferra, the Bacta producing planet, has a population consisting of about 85% Vratix, insectiod creatures who have some sort of 'need' to make Bacta, and a semi-hive mind. Our RP happens some 100 years after Endor, and Thyferra has for a long time, been ruled by a class of Aristocratic human 'Nobles' who basically formed their own organization of wealth to keep themselves in power and opress the Thyferrans. With the death of the last king Edward Pratt (assassinated by a rogue force user), the Empire sent a fleet to Thyferra to make sure that it transitioned smoothly to a new government. The New Republic also sent a fleet. Words were exchanged with the two fleets eventually battling over Thyferra. In the end the Emperor arrived with his fleet to turn the tide of the battle, and the New Republic retreated. Now, some weeks later, with the Imperial fleet still in orbit, elections are going to be held to determind the fate of the planet. Here are your candidates:

Candidate 1:
Name: Duke Edmund Frakes
Species: Human
VP: CEO Archibald Trevors
Species: Human
Platform: A former Thyferran noble teamed with the CEO of one of the major bacta producing firms, they promise that under their rule Thyferra will oust the Imperials, rejoin the New Republic, and maintain the same status quo system that Edward Pratt and his predecessors ruled over for years. With the council of noblemen and such.
Slogan: "Noble men for a noble world."

Candidate 2
Name: Seeqov Thranx
Species: Vratix
VP: Moff Torgan
Species: Human
Platform: A respected Vratix leader Seeqov has teamed up with Moff Torgan, the Imperial ambassador assigned to Thyferra when their embassy was established. They are running based on a platform of change. The Empire was here to help secure the galaxies bacta supply, and fought to keep it in Thyferran hands. Now, they want to change the entire system, and put Vratix back in control of the bacta, with Imperial advisors to ensure a smooth transition of power. This would eliminate the Vratix biggest fear, trusting outsiders to manage fairly in their interests. They would then be free to make an independent Thyferra that could choose what their level of relationships would be with both the Empire and the NR. It could be something as limited as embassies, or something as extensive as alliance agreements. They quote past planets like Adarlon, and Geonosis (both planets our Empire has succesfully taken over and made into model corporations) as examples of the good that a relationship with the Empire can do.
Slogan: "For Thyferra!"

Candidate 3
Name: Analia Dalina
Species: Human
VP: Laeren Qhirf
Species: Vratix
Platform: The widowed wife of a NR sympathetic and semi-famous human nobleman, Analia Dalina has teamed up with a respected Vratix leader. The two claim that the Empire is trying to annex the planet one step at a time, and that the NR is their only chance of stopping the tyranical empire from making all of them into slaves. They also accuse the Empire in Analia's husband's death. They are running on a platform of restoring Thyferran government back to what it was during 'Alazhixazha' the Thriving Season. The period from 10 years before the rise of the Emperor and onward. This golden age of Thyferra was marked by humans in charge of business being constantly watched by the Vratix to ensure there was no corruption taking place.
Slogan: "If it worked then, why not now?"

Please simply state which Candidate you would vote for, and if you would like, a little statement about why.

They seem the least likely to be corrupt. Without taking into account pure paranoia, these guys seem pretty clean and would be my choice.

I can't believe I only got one reply. I can't bring this to my group.

What about all the other people who viewed this thread and didn't reply. C'mon, spare a minute and reply. Please?

WIth Imperial star ships hovering who could pick anything else but option too, not that its democratic.

Ideally third candidate
Name: Analia Dalina
Species: Human

Species: Vratix
is the best option.

The 2nd candidate

Open rebellion against the Empire would only lead to huge amounts of death and maybe a complete Imperial overthrow

They need to vote the 2nd one in, live under teh Imperials and hope the New Republic takes Thyferra soon.

Im the only one for candidate 2, thats ok though. Im used to being the only right all the time

But I really seriously think candidate 2 would be the best choice for prior stated reasons.

See, when I originally created this thread, I wanted people to take into account the paranoia and the fleet overhead, why else would I have told you about it and asked you to vote, as you think a Thyferran would?

Anyhow, one of the voters said that they would vote for Candidate 2, but it wouldn't be democractic. She said ideally she would pick candidate 3. I'm going to change that vote to Candidate 2, which is what she said would be her vote if we take into account the situation.

I've also eliminated the first vote from my count because Martev clearly states 'without taking into account pure paranoia'. That's exactly what I did want you to take into account, so you are free to recast your vote (it can be for the same person if you think that taking into account pure paranoia would lead to that result.)

So that makes the votes:

Candidate 1: 3 votes
Candidate 2: 2 votes
Candidate 3: 2 votes

And please, when you vote, take into account paranoia, the ships in orbit, and anything else you think would affect you in a real election. This is a roleplaying thread, I assume you all know how to imagine you are something that you aren't. So imagine you're a little insectoid Thyferran who make Bacta for a living, or maybe you're one of the few humans on the world. You have two Imperial fleets overhead, the New Republic has just been chased away, and now we're holding elections. Who would you vote for?

So far it looks like the Noble world might have it so far. I know some people might not be happy that I changed one vote, so that person has the option to revote, if she doesn't want to vote for the Empire, as she seemed to indicate in the first part of her post.

And sorry I haven't been on in a long time, but nothing much has happened on Thyferra, but now it looks like the outcome of this vote might be needed sometime this month.

Well, that's rather intersting because now that makes it a three way tie...

Hmm, well I guess that's just as well, considering that the Empire and the NR just negotiated to have the planet be neutral, so it will sell Bacta to both.

Thank you all for participating, I look forward to coming here for more 'unbiased' input in the future.
