The Jedi Purge

I was watching AOTC last night and got to thinking how will all those Jedi die? Particularly what is going to happen to all those cute little Jedi padawans? How are they going to die? I can't see 5 year old kids being decapitated so how is it going to happen? One thought I had was could Anakin be somehow involved from the inside? Could he betray the Jedi and plant a bomb inside the temple the last time he is there? Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I believe that Commander Tarkin and Anakin Skywalker-turned-Sith will lead an Imperial attack on the Jedi Temple of Coruscant at the end of Episode III.

After killing tons of Jedi Masters and Knights in the battle, the stromtroopers will put a bomb and the Jedi Temple will explode.

As said in the Original Trilogy, Darth Vader will hunt and kill all the remaining Jedi ( including the 5-years old padawans ).

That's only a theory but it sounds good, I think.

I don't think the mass killing will be at the temple. *That's too predictable. Lucus always likes to have a bit of war tactics on screen. *I think he'll have a great number of them lured somewhere away from their stronghold into a trap. *Probably the bait will be saving the senate or something.

I read somewhere that there may possibly be something taken from GL's Journal of the Whills notes, where the Jedi are put on trial and executed. If I can find the link, I'll post it.

That's an awful lot of Jedi's to be going around and killing. But I am thinking that they are being set up some how and Anakin is assassianating them one at a time and then using some new Imperial weapons to attack the fleeing Jedi. It was never said that Vader went face to face with each and every Jedi.

It's only ever said that he helps the Empire hunt them down. That could mean as little as giving them tips or information which will hurt them. I doubt he'll personally kill many. Maybe Mace, and attempt to kill Obi Wan.

Bounty hunters and Imperial troops will search and destroy the Jedi that flee. Vader will fight a few I am sure. As far the the children go...I doubt you will see little kids slaughtered or in any kind of combat. If anything you will see them in a shuttle that gets attacked and destroyed...

I agree. It would be too much, no matter how powerful he is, to singlehandedly kill most of the Jedi. As Zane Marit has suggested, bounty hunters and Imperial troops will likely play the largest role in eliminating the Jedi.

As for the way most of the jedi's die my first thought is probably something having to do with the midichlorians. Maybe the empire finds a way to tamper with them and that would make a quick end to most of the jedi. If GL only has to describe how a few survive something like that it would make it a lot easier. :sly:

I hope he doesn't return to the midichlorians idea and I don't think he will given the hostile reaction it got from critics and fans alike.

I'd much rather see an good old-fashioned religious purge. :)

perhaps the jedi purge is one massive 'act' followed by a 'cleanup'. there are a lot of jedi (anyone know the number?). the cleanup is where we see jedi being 'hunted down' one by one with Vader's assistance, but the initial purge is a single massive act.

i can see anakin working together with palpy to lure the majority of the jedi to a single location. then, using the dark side of the force, palpy/sidious

-blows up a planet
-blows up a really big area
-sends a 'wave' of dark-side power that sweeps over the jedi and wipes them out.

obi and yoda are in route to the meeting place when the others are wiped out, and they have their first experience with the 'feeling of thousands of voices crying out then suddenly silenced.'


such an act by palpy would back up Vader's statement, 'the power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.'

I'm curious where did the discription "Jedi purge" came from? I dont seem to remember that being said in any movie. It sounds a little fan boyish. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Anyway, I think most of the jedi are supposed to be killed when the clones turn on them. And I'm sure more than a few were killed in the last two years of the war before episode 3.

I dont think will see Vader hunt down the rest one by one (if they are many left). There just isnt enough time in the movie and Vader is only supposed to be seen in the final parts anyway.

I think that about says it all. Jedi Purge is a great explaintion for the Jedi halacost.

Sorta off topic, but anyone know why Anakin chooses the name Darth Vader, i cant find it in any spoilers, someone said it could be something that the Emperor choose, I guess Dooku was the same (Lord Tyranus). Interesting what was Darth Mauls real name style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif

I don't know. I always pictured the Jedi Purge to be a massive cleanup operation, but know it seems as if Sidious wants to get rid of them quickly.
