This is a repost from the starwarsfanworks.com news page.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Could Prelude to Hope, the long-awaited fan film, be making an appearance in the fan audio genre instead? Well, sort of.

The Prelude to Hope project was recently relaunched from the ground up by Devon Read and the crew at Clear Concrete Productions. In the process, the old script for the film was tossed out, as was the old project's footage, and new scripts were being written. Among the various writers working on new scripts (one of which would become the new Prelude to Hope) were Nathan Butler, Chad Peter, and a few others.

Both Peter and Butler have since separated themselves from the project, and neither of their scripts are being used for the new Prelude. While it is unknown whether (but likely that) Peter's script will find its way to the public eye via message boards or something similar (as it should, since I'm told it's pretty good), Butler has received the go-ahead from Devon Read (upon whose original outline Butler's new Prelude script was based) to take his script in other directions.

Thus, it is very likely that Nathan Butler's Prelude to Hope: Version 2.0 script will become a new audio drama sometime in late 2004 or early 2005. The character names, of course, will change, and it will most likely have some slight alterations to better fit with Butler's established continuity (from Second Strike, Anthology, and the Second Strike Sourcebook). Perhaps we might finally discover how the Alliance first learned about Project FlashDeath's existence, something only hinted at in Second Strike when Jaren first learns its true nature.

If this happens, as it most likely will, keep an eye out for news on the new project, most likely renamed Star Wars: Nothing Changes here at Star Wars Fanworks. [/b][/quote]

I'm curious what the fan audio community's thoughts are on this, given that so many fan audio people are crossovers from the fan film genre.

Sounds good to me. It'll be interesting to see the various places the scripts have branched off and how the different visions have changed the path the scripts have taken style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Isnt it creepy to talk about yourself in third person? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Just kidding, i know very little about audio dramas, and even less about fanfilms.. Sounds like fun though.

Just don't going around, clutching your script, and calling it "precious."

Soon he'll be wrestling and introducing the Nathan's Elbow.

I think that this would be an awesome project. It will also help to promote the Fan Audio movement because it will prove that it is a viable alternate to people who have had to abandom fanfilm projects.

Do you smell what Nasty Butler is cookin'?

And, yeah, I agree. I'm figuring if nothing else, it's a good crossover thing, y'know?

However, with some story elements changed, it may not matter.

Update: The script for the revised story, entitled "Nothing Changes," should be done this weekend.

I've basically transposed the setting and pushed the time frame forward a tiny bit, so now instead of a mission to Sant'Iigoe and Utapau dealing with Death Star plans, it's a mission to Ord Bendis and Ragesh (in the Ferri'sol system) dealing with the first scant information to be found about Project FlashDeath. In that sense, it'll act as not a "Prelude to Hope" but a "Prelude to Second Strike," so to speak.

None of the characters crossover, though. However, we will hear mentions of things from Second Strike like Ferri'sol, Ragesh, Ord Bendis, Dehrahn, and FlashDeath. There will even be a mention of Dehrahn's flagship ISD, the Indoctrinator, which makes an appearance in the sourcebook.

The storytelling will be somewhat narrative, but far less so, I would say, than in Second Strike. The words of Traiven Kova will be somewhat less elaborate than those of Jaren Valkan. The story will also be my first outside of Dreamscape, to use lightsaber combat or the infamous "Vader breathing" sound.

However, expect the "humanity" of the characters to remain true to the developed style in Second Strike. No backpedaling on character creation.

I'm already thinking of perspective team members, and am hoping I can bring in Lila Atherley to play the lead female role, Triina. I'm considering trying to put Brian Bisetti in the Jedi role, Traiven, and balance him against Matthew Gordon in the Dark Jedi role, Dahrias. That would still leave two big roles to deal with, but I have some ideas. We'll see.

Anyway, yeah, the script should hopefully be done this weekend.

Well, I'm about to begin casting, so I'll post a casting call thread when that's ready today. I've contacted Michael Haspil, Brian Bisetti, Matthew Gordon, and Lila Atherley about appearances, so I'm going to wait until I hear from them on the larger roles.

I'll have a few that will need to be cast, though.

EDIT: Casting is done and the project is being discussed, at the moment, here:
